Summer Lip Stains for Latte Looks

One of the hottest makeup trends right now is the Latte Look, using yellow-based browns and bronzes to create that sun-kissed monochromic neutral look.  “As makeup artist and founder of the namesake brush line, Tanielle Jai tells TZR, “Latte makeup is defined by caramel tones, creamy skin, and nude lips.” Just like the delicious espresso drink it’s named after, the look is all about warm browns and velvety textures. That said, Jai notes that there’s one beloved makeup product that takes a back seat to this rising trend: blush. “Think tonal hues — more yellow-based browns and creams than the red-toned products that have always been trending, and no pinky blushes or rosy cheeks,” she says.”  from The Zoe Report    Of course, you can use a red-brown shade if the yellow-brown makes you look washed out.  The whole point of makeup, including trends, is to find a look you like and work with it to your own coloring.

I have what I think is a perfect nude-brown lip shade from Peripera and if you are one that might want a more reddish shade on your lips to complete the Latte Look, Amuse has a really pretty marsala shade.  I received both of these products from  Jolse  Cosmetic, a premier K-Beauty online store, complementary  for review purposes.

I received these products complementary to review and was not paid.  All reviews are my own honest opinion and  I never have been asked to write copy for a brand.  This blog post might contain promo codes, affiliate and referral links, which using my links will help generate a small commission that helps support my blog at no extra cost to you.

Peripera Ink Mood Matte Tints were created by consulting with the Korean color experts Dustmoth Stography and this collection features a variety of shades for their Fall in Acorn Lip Series

  • 12 Almond Rose: Warm-tone muted rose
  • 13 Mauve Pong: Soft, muted mauve
  • 14 Make Up Chili: Warm-tone deep chili red
  • 15 Acorn Brown:  Soft, muted acorn brown color

I chose 15 Acorn Brown and I have to say, despite the “brown” name, this is a beautiful muted darker nude shade. It doesn’t leave me looking half dead or washed out, like many nude lippies.  It is a cream matte color, without drying or flaking and has a really good applicator, so I can easily use this to first line my lips and then fill them in.   The color has a blurring effect even without blotting my lips and the texture is a whipped chiffon.  Another plus is that these lippies from Peripera do not have a horrible taste, like their Velvet Lip Tints.  These do have ‘cones in it, so it glides on smoothly and there is an added benefit with anti-oxidant vitamin E.

Ingredients #15 Acorn Brown: Dimethicone,Trimethylsiloxysilicate,Dimethicone Crosspolymer,Caprylyl Dimethicone,Tribehenin,Diisostearyl Fumarate,Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate,Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891),Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492),Phenyl Trimethicone,Sorbitan Isostearate,Isododecane,Synthetic Fluorphlogopite,Polyhydroxystearic Acid,Ethylhexyl Palmitate,Isopropyl Myristate,Isostearic Acid,Lecithin,Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate,Tocopheryl Acetate,Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer,Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate,Water,Dehydroacetic Acid,Fragrance,Iron Oxide Red(CI 77491),Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499),Fast Acid Magenta (CI 17200),Lithol Rubine BCA (CI 15850)”

Amuse Chou Velvet #07 Falling Blossom ~ I have tried Amuse products before, including their lippies. This is a velvet, ie matte, vegan lip tint, that has a beautiful lightweight texture.  It is formulated with a patented “Comfort Fixing” technology,  which provides long lasting color with hydration.  This contains hyaluronic acid along with a patented aqua ceramides for long lasting moisturization along with improving your lip’s elasticity.

  • #1 Peach (Boksoonga) Chou:  Pinkish peach
  • #2 Chou Chou: Bright peach
  • #3 Seongsu-dong: Neutral, muted orange-brown
  • #4 Floral Breeze (Kkotbora): Dramatic pinkish-red
  • #5 Milk Tea: Bright orange-beige
  • #6 Seoul Rose: Soft, muted vintage rose
  • #7 Falling Blossom: Muted brick red
  • #8 Plum (Jadu): Soft pink-mauve

This comes in a  rectangular tube that hints at the color within with a slant tip applicator.  This has a very creamy, yet light,  texture that also looks a bit glossy initially, but dries down to a soft velvet finish.  It doesn’t accentuate fine lip wrinkles, but helps smooth them out.  This looks very bright in the tube, but it isn’t as bright on the skin ~ the shade is a bit more vibrant than “muted”,  but if I blend it out, it becomes more muted.  This is a nice brick red that works well with caramel browns and golds.

Ingredients #7 Falling Blossom: Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Methicone, Tribehenin, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Diisostearyl Malate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sorbitan Isostearate, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Isododecane, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Myristate, Isostearic Acid, Lecithin, Octyldodecanol, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ceramide NP, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850)

  1. I love brown makeup and find that a nude blush is perfect for that slightly sunburnt look! Can’t wait for brown blushers!

Your lippie looks look super cool also! I was smiling a bit when I saw that one of the shades is called Seongsu-Dong. It’s a centrally located Seoul district close to where I live, a hip & happening place to be these days for the younguns.

  2. By the by, I saw in your bio that you’re a data analyst. I used to study data analytics before getting into marketing but still have a lot of love for programming as a hobby and I do get to use analytics on the daily, albeit more as an end user. Any chance you would consider writing a post about makeup and data analysis, in some form or another (eg how do data analysts do their makeup, what are your analytical approaches to what skin care/makeup to use, etc)?
