I am starting to do some more reviews on eye treatments, as my eye area is the one place where I feel I really need to take better care of. Your skin around your eye is one of the most fragile and delicate areas on your face and it is very thin. Fine lines and wrinkles usually start showing here first, as even with all of the skin care, sunscreen and sunglasses, we do squint, laugh, cry, make facial expressions and those laugh lines really do add up! I don’t mine some of my laugh lines ~ but I do care about the skin under my eye and making sure it doesn’t look dry or crepe-y.

Wei East China Herbal Eyes Alive I used this eye cream for day time use. It is a light weight eye cream, pretty much scentless and it does apply smoothly on my skin. Among green tea and soybean extracts, this also has seaweed, mulberry and cucumber extracts ~ seaweed adds moisture and helps detox to reduce puffiness, mulberry is a botanical skin tone brightener and cucumber to soothe your skin. This product is also full of moisturizers, emollients and emulsions, which will help soften your fine lines and wrinkles.

So, how did this product work for me? I really didn’t see any different with my skin when I used this eye cream. It is neither bad nor good, just meh. I felt that it didn’t keep my eye area moisturized properly. You can purchase cheaper eye creams at the drugstore that will work just as well, quite frankly. So, I cannot really recommend this one. Full Size 0.50 oz RV $19.00 (HSN ~ Wei East)

Wei East Chestnut/Black Soy Refirming Eye Treatment Made with with the inner lining of Chinese chestnuts and fermented black soybeans, this firming eye treatment is supposed to help make your eye area appear firmer, temporarily lift the skin around your eyes, making your eye area look younger. This is more dense eye cream and again, pretty much odorless. I used this at night time and it did soften my fine lines and wrinkles, but as far as firming and lifting my skin around my eyes, even temporarily, this product did not live up to its claims for me. This product does have a ton of moisturizers, emulsions and emollients as well as antioxidant herbal ingredients to help combat free radical damage, but after almost 2 months of use, I really think this product was just good at moisturizing and softening fine lines and wrinkles. Which is perfectly fine for an eye cream ~ the moisturize level was great, but this cream is $26.00, so it is expensive for what most eye creams out in the market should be doing on a basic level. Full Size 0.50 oz RV $26.00 (HSN ~ Wei East)

Wei East Golden Root Renewal All-in-One Eye Serum The quote on the box ~ “She who finds the Golden Root will live a long, happy life”. Snickers. We all want to find that golden root, believe me, honey. Okay, enough with the dirty jokes 😉 I am pretty familiar with green tea and licorice extracts, found in this product, but I am not that familiar with Rhodiola Rosea, also known as Golden Root. This plant is full of antioxidants called proanthocyanidins and is similar to vitamin C in terms of its effects on skin ~ helping to protect your skin from free radical damage and reversing said damage, in terms of hyper-pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps strengthen your skin’s barrier against the damaging rays from UV. Another benefit from this plant extract is that it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while toning and firming your skin as it seems to help with the production of elastin and collagen. This ingredient is helped with another ~ Ganoderma Lucidum (Reishi Mushroom) which is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

This serum is a gel product and its color in the jar is a light golden shade. It is very smooth and silky and has a light scent to it, a bit herbal-medicinal that quickly goes away. I really had to sniff it to even detect the scent, so it isn’t that overpowering. The gel is colorless when applied and for some reason, on my skin, it doesn’t really absorb all the way. It “pills” if you know what I mean. It is like the gel will ball up on itself after it reaches maximum absorption. Because of that, I couldn’t use this as a day serum and decided to use as a part of my night time routine. It is too light weight to be used alone, so I started using it with other eye creams, including the chestnut/soy firming eye treatment. When I used this serum with other products, it still balled up, but it really enhanced the eye cream I was using. In the morning, I felt that my laugh lines were much softer in appearance and my skin around the corners of my eyes look more refreshed.
I feel that this product really needs to work with other eye creams to see benefits. Alone, it is light weight and not that moisturizing. With other creams, it really helped boost its power to soften and moisturize. However, it really didn’t help with right under my eye area, towards the nose. That area is a bit more “crepe-y” and I need to find an eye product that will help really firm up that skin. Full Size .52 oz $29.98 at HSN. It is $19.99 at Wei East

Final Thoughts
My hunt for a firming eye treatment is on full force now. Wei East China Herbal Eyes Alive did not do much for me and it is an expensive product for not even keeping my eye area moisturized all day long. Wei East Chestnut/Black Soy Refirming Eye Treatment was effective in moisturizing my eye area but it did not help with firming and lifting the skin around my eyes. I did like, believe it or not, Wei East Golden Root Renewal All-in-One Eye Serum, despite the product balling up around my skin. I felt this product excelled in as a booster to existing eye creams and helped soften and reduce the fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes. It also brightened my eye area as well. However, it did nothing for firm and tone the skin around my eye area. I will repurchase Wei East Golden Root Serum for the time being as I find it is good as an enhancing product to existing products. However, I am still looking for that elusive miracle eye cream that will help firm and tone my eye area without making them puffy.
Have you tried any of Wei East products? What did you think of them? Any suggestions for eye creams that you have used that lift and firm? Please let me know in the comments below 🙂
My next eye creams that I will be testing are from SkinFood ~ I received a sample of SkinFood Royal Honey Essential Eye Cream in my Miss Tutii bag and Q-Depot has generously sponsored SkinFood Black Raspberry Eye Cream ~ one that I have been wanting to try for a long time.
