Battlez of the Radiant In-Shower Facials: Aveeno vs Make P:rem

Time for the 🥊Battlez of the 🌞 Radiant In-Shower Facials ~ Yep, taking on the drugstore Aveeno Positively Radiant 60 Second In-Shower Facial vs expensive, chic chic Make P:rem Radiance Cleansing Pack. Both of these have AHA acids and clay; They claim to clear your skin and make it radiant. I did pH tests on both of them, because the radiant claim is based on the AHA ingredient: Make P:rem contains citric acid, which is at the end of a long-long ingredient list. Aveeno contains glycolic acid, which is at the top of a much shorter ingredient list.

Skin Type/Concerns: Oily, blemish prone, aging skin with hyper-pigmentation and fine lines/wrinkles.

Make P:rem Radiance Cleansing Pack 5.07 oz

Conclusion: The Make P:rem mask was a bit of puzzlement for me ~ I originally left it on for 3 to 5 minutes and didn’t really achieve much ~ in fact, my pores still had some gunk it in, so I wasn’t impressed. It was suggested by another reader to leave it on for 25 minutes and use a brush to help get it foaming and remove it completely ~ that did help as my skin did look more clear and cleaned. However, I am not sure that it wasn’t my pore brush that helped with the cleansing ~ in addition, my face was stinging a bit for leaving it on for that long. My skin does feel soft and smooth after using the Make P:rem. Aveeno Positively Radiant facial product was an immediate success for me. This is more of a clay cleanser, but it has exfoliating bits in it, so it really cleans well, foams up a bit and it was quick ~ I left it on for a minute or two and then massaged/rinsed off. I have left this on for longer ~ about 5 minutes and my face doesn’t sting. This cleans out my pores and does leave my skin looking brighter and smooth.

Now, granted, you might be picky about the few ingredients in Aveeno, but I am reviewing based on the claims of the product and what it actually does. I think that the Make P:rem is just a hydrating clay mask pack that doesn’t do a great job on oily, clogged pore skin. I don’t think it does anything else, really ~ the acids are not in the right pH levels to be effective; Also, any brightening I might see, I have to wonder if that is residue from the titanium dioxide. If I want smooth and soft skin, I have tons of other products that do just that and for a lot less money. I honestly think that the Aveeno is a superior product ~ it has the right pedigree for both a chemical and physical exfoliator, detox with clay and brightens without any additives like titanium dioxide.
