Unboxing Beauty

I love BB Cushions!  They are so easy to use and perfect for tucking into your purse, backpack or even pocket ~ and they don’t spill like liquid foundations do.   Sooryehan is a brand that is well known in K-Beauty, but totally unknown to me.  They have a whole line of Ginseng products, but I wanted to try their cushion, as I was in need of a new one.  Jolse  Cosmetic, a premier K-Beauty online store,  sent me the Sooryehan Black Ginseng Cushion for review purposes.

Key Ingredients

Sooryehan Black Ginseng Cushion has the whole botanical kitchen sink in here, so I am not going to go over them. If you have a question about a certain ingredient, post a comment on it and I will try and answer it.  I am just going to go over the highlights of this cushion.   This does have ginseng in it!  Four different types, starting off with Ginsenoside 33™, a patented compound that contains 33 kinds of ginsenosides that have been extracted from wild ginseng that grows on Mt Jiri, South Korea.  Ginsenosides also known as ginseng saponin, has had numerous studies that show it is effective as a anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, anti inflammatory and brightening ingredient and can aid in the production of collagen.  It helps increase elasticity, improves blood circulation to your skin and also is a superb moisturizer.  Ginsenosides are compounds only found in ginseng and are an excellence source of anti-oxidants.

Next,  4.45 μg/g of ginseng extract, 2 μg/g of femented red ginseng and  0.5 μg/g of red ginseng extract ~  Panax ginseng is used in anti-aging skin care products, as it is can stimulate the skin and activate the blood flow, which will increase toning and production of new skin cells.  It also has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, due to natural carbohydrate called saponin, and will help reverse damage caused by free radicals, such as hyper-pigmentation and also combat free radicals to prevent new skin damage of fine lines and wrinkles.  Ginseng detoxes your skin and leaves it radiant and glowing.   Applied topically, it helps stimulate collagen production to promote cellular renewal.  Its herbal properties and usage dates back over 5,000 years.

Adenosine helps improve the reduction of wrinkles and is also an anti inflammatory while niacinamide is a powerful   brightening ingredient ~ this antioxidant that acts as an anti-inflammatory, improves your skin elasticity, enhance the skin barrier function and also it helps to even out skin tone, provides pore care and reduces post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.  Phaseolus radiatus (mung bean) contains copper, which is a powerful anti-aging ingredient ~ it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation. It has cooling and brightening properties and it is also an anti-inflammatory.

And of course, this has UV protection with a rating of SPF 50+  PA+++ with trusty physical UVA/UVB blocker titanium dioxide and UVB Ensulizole.  That said, I would still put sunscreen UNDER my BB cushion to start off with and then use my cushion during the day to reapply the foundation AND UV protection.

The packaging is just lovely on this BB Cushion. Even the box it came in has gold embossed sides.  With this particular purchase, I received one compact with 15 gram cushion,  three puffs and one 15 gram cushion refill.  I was pleased to see 3 puffs in there, as sometimes when you wash the puff, it is still damp the next day.   

The compact has a gold bottom and a black lid that is encrusted with little multi-colored dots in a swirling constellation pattern.  The center of the lid has Sooryehan written on it ~ the design is actually UNDER the plastic so it won’t wear off ~ the lid may get scratched and dull with use, but the design will always be there.

Traditional BB cushion set up – comes with a foil protector, and a double lid ~ the top holds the slim puff, which has a denser cell structure, so I can really get the product into my fine lines and curved areas around my nose and eyes.  I didn’t really notice a fragrance with this, no strong scent, no ginseng (sobs), but that is okay. 

I chose No 23, which is normally my choice if I am unfamiliar with a brand’s shade range.  No 21 usually is the brighter of the two and more pink toned, whereas No 23 is more natural and more neutral/warm toned.

This has good coverage ~ it is not a fully full coverage, but more of a medium-almost-but-not-quite-full coverage ~ however, it can be built up.  This doesn’t oxidize and even though it states it is a Tone-Up Glow, I didn’t find this cushion to be blindingly white (tone-up) or dewy (glow) ~ instead, I felt it gave a natural finish that allowed my natural oils to come thru but not in excess.   It doesn’t oxidize nor does it cake up on my skin ~ this is a very good BB cushion, if the two shades can work for you!
