Lovemore Volcanic Essence Balancing & Purifying Black Mask (S. Korea) Now this is strange! Lovemore is a Taiwanese brand, but this mask is made in Korea ~ I wonder if it is because it contains Jeju ingredients? This is a black purifying mask which will help clean, detox and oil balance your skin. I am pretty excited to try this out as I love Jeju Island ingredients, charcoal masks and any type of purifying products! Dreamskin My Flask’In Recovery Mask No 3 EFG Tea Tree (S. Korea) This series of My Flask’In has 4 different masks and I received the EFT Tea Tree version, which will help calm and soothe reddened skin and blemishes and will purify and heal skin issues for a clearer complexion. I love tea tree ingredients and I am really interested in trying this one out ~ I guess it has so much essence, they even wrote “cut me” (that is so wrong..btw) at the corner of the package to remind you that they have so much extra essence in the bag! B&Soap My Secret Sea Water Mask (S.Korea) Another sea water mask! I love it ~ this time from the S.Korean Island of Ulleung-do (Ulleundgo), which is much further north than Jeju Island and is located in the Sea of Japan. This is an anti-wrinkle, brightening mask that provides moisture and nutrition to your skin, using pristine Ulleundgo’s deep ocean water (1000ppm), full of rich minerals. Mitomo Gold & Horse Oil Black Sheet Face Pack (Japan) My goal this holiday break is to use my Mitomo masks ~ I purchased a lot from JapanSkin and Genie is adding more in our bags ~ she had one last week. This has horse oil and whereas horse oil in creams and lotions are too rich for my skin, in facial sheet masks, it is just enough and I love using them in the winter. This also is a charcoal black mask, so it will help purify your skin as well ~ which as an oily, blemish prone person, I really appreciate! Hello Kitty Snail Whitening Mask (S. Korea) How cute is this packaging ~ not only with Mz Kitty, but a little snail in the upper right hand corner 🙂 Hello Kitty is marked by Sanrio Co in Japan, but this is a Korean mask, made with snail smile. This also has niacinamide to help brighten your skin, along with some wonderful soothing and hydrating ingredients, such as chamomille, witch hazel, hyaluronic acid. Naruko Narcissus Repairing Mask (Taiwan) I actually have purchased this and used this before, so I will repeat my review here. This mask is made for prematurely aging skin ~ well, I am not prematurely aging, I AM aging!! haha This will hydrate, repair and soothe your skin, while restoring elasticity. This mask is part of what I call their classic series (I have no idea if they call it that or not) but all of those masks have a one color package (in this case, purple) and all contain a compound called phytoferulin, which has these ingredients: kalanchoe spathulata, licorice root, alpine skullcap, masterwort, ginkgo biloba, alps wormwood, leontopodium alpinum, alpine willowherb, calendula, chamomilla recutita and green tea. In addition to these ingredients, this has several ferments ~ psaudoalteromonas, bifida, lactobacllus and it has some marine life ingredients ~ brine shrimp and red seaweed. And of course, narcissus bulb, which is known to help repair damaged skin.
Like most Naruko masks, this is dripped wet with essence and has a very light bitter scent that goes away quickly. The mask fit is good and I was able to keep it on for 50 minutes and it was still very wet around my cheeks and chin area ~ for some reason, my forehead, nose and upper lip area dry out faster. It had a cooling effect on my face, and it felt really fantastic ~ I had been feeling overheated and run down lately, due to the oppressive heat and my darn ear infection, so it felt good on my skin. When I removed it, I noticed how brighter my skin looked, soft and smooth. Very hydrated with no sticky or tacky residue. This is a really nice mask ~ I didn’t notice any other benefits, but I was fairly pleased with this one. RV $2.75

Laozhongyi Moisturizing Mask (Chinese) Oh, I saved my favorite for last. Look at this design ~ Beautiful Chinese Opera lady. I had some help from the lovely Deirdre @catachreses_ and Annie @curbsidetreasure with this mask, as I wasn’t sure about some of the Chinese translation. Lao zhongyi means Old Chinese Medicine (or Old Chinese Doctor, but I will go with Medicine), which is probably TCM – Traditional Chinese Medicine. This mask does have a lovely herbal formula of the 7 white herbal ingredients
- Atractylodes (Bai Zhu) This is part of the sunflower family and it contains essential oils and amino acids, such as aspartic acid, serine and glutamic acid, which will help brighten a dull skin tone.
- White Tribulus Terrestris Fruit (Bai Ji Li ) This ingredient contains flavonoids and saponins which are powerful antioxidants and it will help soothe and repair skin issues, such as allergic skin conditions, eczema and other rashes.
- White Poria (Fu Ling) is poria cocos, a fungi that is used for its anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, combating free radicals.
- White Peony Root (Bai Shao Yao) is an anti-inflammatory and will help brighten a sallow complexion and overall brighten.
- White Ampelopsis Japonica (Bai Lian) will detox your skin, reduce swelling, heals wounds and reduces redness.
- White Dictamnus Dasycarpus/Densefruit Pittany Root-bark (Bai Xian Pi) helps detox, reduces itching and skin issues.
- Baiji (Bletilla Striata) will act as an astringent and help heal wounds, while reducing swelling.
This also has beta glucan and sodium hyaluronate for a hydrating and moisturizing mask. This sounds lovely! I translated this using a google app translator, so all mistakes are mine own. If you can deal with a butchered google translation, the legend behind these ingredients is really a cool read, full of concubines and an Emperor ~ 7 White Herbal Ingredients. RV $2.00?

Another great month from MaskGenie! Getting brands from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China is a treat and I am fantasticated by some of these masks ~ such as the Laozhongyi and B&Soap masks. I paid $23.99 for this pouch, which included shipping, and received a retail value of around $21.00 to $23.00 ~ it was difficult to estimate some of the masks, because I couldn’t find a price on them. This is a pretty high value pouch, as shipping from Hong Kong is not inexpensive and should be factored in with the cost, as you are supporting an indie, woman-owned business.
