107 One O Seven Moisture Balm Mild Sunstick SPF50+ PA++++ Review

When it comes to K-Beauty, finding a brand with true history and soul can be tough, but 107 Beauty is a rare and beautiful exception. This is a brand I have truly loved from the very beginning, and it’s one that elevates fermentation from a trend to a family tradition. 107 Beauty gifted me their Moisture Balm Mild Sunstick complementary without any expectation of a review, but I am making it my mission to review all of their products officially at my blog!

Skin Type/Concerns: Oily, blemish prone, pores, aging concerns with fine lines/wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation

I received these products complementary to review and was not paid.  All reviews are my own honest opinion and  I never have been asked to write copy for a brand.  This blog post might contain promo codes, affiliate and referral links, which using my links will help generate a small commission that helps support my blog at no extra cost to you.

The Secret History of 107 Beauty: A Legacy 35 Generations Deep

At its core, 107 is a family-owned business that also runs Hanega, Korea’s largest and most respected naturally fermented vinegar producer. The genius behind the skincare line is Ohk Ran Chung, a pharmacist who developed a specially aged vinegar infused with 21 oriental herbs. This secret process produces essential amino acids, 8 of them, to be exact, that work to rejuvenate and purify the skin. If you’ve ever wondered what the “107” stands for, it represents the brand’s 107 secret formulas that have been passed down through their family for an incredible 35 generations! This heritage, combined with their commitment to being a cruelty-free brand, makes 107 utterly unique.

Why is Sunscreen So Important?

Whenever I do a sunscreen review, I always like to include this in my blog post. It may seem repetitive if you are familiar with my blog posts, but not everyone reads every review or clicks on resources to find out what I am referring to. If you already know this information, just skip over.

We all know what SPF rating means, but what does PA stand for? I am very familiar with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) which ranks protection from UVB (ultraviolet B, or shortwave) rays. But the PA rating is something newish to me and a lot of Western readers, and I really notice it on Asian sunscreens, not so much American brands. PA, or Protection Grade of UVA, is the amount of protection the sunscreen offers from UVA (ultraviolet A, or long-wave) rays. PA ranks with plus signs, and the higher the number of plus signs, the more protection you will get from UVA rays. For example, many high-protection Asian sunscreens use the rating PA++++.

UVB is what causes sunburns and reddened skin and has direct links to cancer. UVA is what causes us to tan and age, resulting in wrinkles and deep lines caused by long-term exposure. A really fantastic article about ultraviolet rays and how they affect our skin can be found on the Skin Cancer website. One thing I have learned is that a broad-spectrum sunscreen is the proper choice, as it will help deflect both UV rays and not allow them to penetrate into your skin layers.

TL;DR: You need to wear them. Don’t skimp on or skip this step.

The Fermented Powerhouse: Key Ingredients in the Sunstick

The foundation of 107’s philosophy is their cosmetic-grade vinegar, naturally fermented for over 7 years. This vinegar contains 17 amino acids, including those 8 essential amino acids, which are readily absorbed by the skin to increase elasticity, boost tone, and strengthen the barrier.  Vinegar is a natural anti fungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory and it will help restore the pH balance to your skin. It contains acetic acid and is known to kill off bacteria and reduce acne. By restoring pH balance to your skin, it will help make your skin inhospitable for bacteria as well, while helping your skin create essential proteins and fatty acids.  The vinegar used in these products are from wheat grown in the Gurye region in Korea ~ why is this interesting? The Gurye region grows its wheat completely free of agricultural chemicals and it is processed free from preservatives and bleaches. 107  Moisture Balm Mild Sunstick SPF50+ PA++++  is absolutely jammed packed with protective and strengthening ingredients

The Fermented Core & Barrier Support

This sunstick’s foundation is the Hanega Vinegar, which uses acetic acid to restore the skin’s optimal pH, effectively making the skin inhospitable to bad bacteria and helping to reduce acne.  For comprehensive support, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is included, enhancing skin resilience, reducing redness, and targeting post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Lastly, Ectoin and Probiotics are essential for guarding the skin against environmental stressors, keeping the skin’s microbiome clear, balanced, and healthy.

Hydration & Protection Complex

Deep moisture retention is ensured by the 8-Hyaluronic Acid Complex. This complex consists of varying molecular weights of HA, ensuring hydration is trapped at the surface while also penetrating deeper layers for lasting plumping and moisture. This effect is sealed in by powerful moisturizing ingredients like Squalane and Allantoin. The unique stick formulation is supported by Butyloctyl Salicylate, which acts as an excellent solvent, helping the robust sun filters blend seamlessly while providing additional skin conditioning. Sunscreen protection comes from the advanced, photostable, chemical Broad-Spectrum Sun Filters (Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus, and Tinosorb S), which provide high UVA/UVB defense with absolutely zero white cast, ensuring comfortable, effective protection.

My Experience: Oily Skin’s Dream SPF

As someone with oily skin, finding a sunscreen that protects without turning me into a shiny mess is a constant quest. I’ve tried countless formulas that either feel greasy, leave a white cast, or simply melt off halfway through the day.  This particular sunstick, however,  exceeded my expectations.. The 107 Moisture Balm Mild Sunstick has lived in my purse for weeks, and that says everything. I love how it glides on effortlessly and sets quickly without adding any unwanted slickness to my face. Despite having a balm texture, it manages to leave a smooth, lightly dewy finish that looks fresh, not greasy. I can apply it liberally for proper protection without feeling like I’ve coated my skin in wax.

This sunstick is truly weightless. I even started using it as a skin prep because its silky smooth texture makes my foundation stay on better. It glides on without tugging, never pills, and somehow balances out my skin even on warmer days when oil production ramps up. I’ve had no breakouts or clogged pores with this product, which is a miracle for me when it comes to sunscreen sticks. My complexion stays clear, protected, and hydrated throughout the day, even after multiple mess-free touch-ups. The herbal and lemony scent is soft and subtle enough that it doesn’t bother me or linger too long.

Final Verdict

The 107 Sunscreen Serum Stick has earned a permanent spot in my routine. It’s easy, effective, and manages to keep my oily skin in check while providing serious, reef-safe sun protection. It feels nice on the skin, cooling, almost, and leaves a soft glow that makes my skin look healthy without crossing into oily territory. For anyone seeking a high-performance SPF that feels more like a skincare serum and less like a chore, you need to try this. I am utterly impressed with how well this product performs, reinforcing why I continue to be a loyal fan of the entire 107 legacy.
