Unboxing January 2016 Beauteque Bag + Promo Codes!

This is my last month for now with Beauteque’s Beauty Bag.  I’ve been sub’d to them since they launched their subscription service and I have so much product right now, that I need to take a mini break.   What is Beauteque?  Beauteque is an online Asian beauty store, located in the USA, that specializes in K-beauty.  They offered a monthly bag, where you will get not only K-Beauty items, but Asian skincare, cosmetics and even Western items, but it primarily focuses on K-Beauty. For full disclosure, unless I state otherwise, all items that I review on my blog are paid for by me and this review is no exception ~ I am paying for the monthly subscription service and am not being compensated for this review.

This month’s theme is Winter Wonderland

Bag Revealed!

This month’s bag is made of a silver fabric.

A’Pieu Color Long Wear Shadow Stick in PK04  PK04 is pink.  Or red.  It is a pink-red. Whatever you want to call it,  It is not a flattering shade on me ~ I would look like I am a weeping.  That said,  I’ve seen other women pull this color off nicely, so I think this will go in a giveaway.  I am not swatching it as I won’t use it.  I wish I had gotten one of the more neutral shades.  RV $11.50

Eye Brow Clip  This is a tweezer.  Not sure why it is called a eye brow clip, as that makes it sound like a scissor.  It is made with stainless steal and has a slanted tip.   I use tweezers, so this goes into my tweezer bucket.  RV $4.50

Nature Republic By Flower Lip Scrub  Yeah, I product that I am really happy to get!  I love a nice lip scrub and this one is in a tube applicator, so it is easy to squeeze out.  It has a slight fruit scent and the exfoliating bits are easily seen within the creamy, moisturizing base.   This contains Vitamin E to help nourish along with walnut powder to help exfoliate and smooth your lips. 10 grams  RV $8.99

Ingredients:  water, caprylic/capric triglyceride, polyethylene, mineral oil, dimethicone, glycerin, propylene glycol, butyrospemum parkii (shea) butter, polysorbate 60, cetyl alcohol,  glyceryl stearate SE, stearic acid, sorbitan stearate, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, sodium hyaluronate, pearl powder, allantoin, juglans regia (walnut) shell powder, trehalose, betaine, fragrance, carbomer, triethanolamine, methylparaben, disodium EDTA, tocopheryl acetate, imidazolidinyl urea, propylparaben, butylparaben  cosDNA.com analysis

Scinic All Day Fine Pore Toner I do love a toner that is formulated for oily skin and this one fits the bill.  I will save this for the summertime, as I need a more astringent toner during the warmer months.   Scinic is a brand that is starting to gain in popularity as the “latest in-brand” ~ they seem to be of good quality at very inexpensive prices.   This has a lot of herbal ingredients to help absorb excess oil and reduce the appearance of your pores.  200 mL RV $22.50

Ingredients:  water, alcohol, butylene glycol, glycerin,  aloe barbadensis leaf juice, betaine, portulaca oleracea extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, centella asiatica extract, houttuynia cordata extract, hedera helix (ivy) extract, cola acuminate seed extract, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, borago officinalis seed oil brassica campestris (rapeseed) seed oil), prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, aluminum chlorohydrate, microcyrstalline cellulose, citric acid, lactic acid, benzophenone-9, sodium citrate,  silica, tricolsan, farnesyl acetate, farnesol, panthenyl triacetate, fragrance, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, yellow 5 (CI 19140), blue 1 (CI 42090)  cosDNA.com analysis

Tonymoly Pocket Bunny Mist This was randomly selected from Moist (dry skin) or Sleek (oily skin) bunnies and I was hoping for the sleek version, as I have oily skin.  As luck would have it, I received the Mist version, which I already own (from another box)   All is not lost, however, as during the winter months, my body gets really dry and I use the more “moisturizing” sprays on my body to help combat the dryness .  The moist version has a fun fruity/floral scent and is made with a lot of berry ingredients, high in antioxidants.   The bunny is really adorable and whereas I am not a huge Tonymoly fan overall, I have to say they do have some of the cutest packaging.    60 mL RV $15.00

Description: Cute as a bunny, but as strong as an ox, this moisturizing finishing spray does so much more than just set makeup in place. Ideal for balancing dry and combination skin, this wonder bunny neutralizes dry spots with a moisture blast, boosts elasticity with natural fruit extracts, and soothes irritated skin with aloe vera. This lightly scented mist adds an instant healthy glow with just a quick spritz, and is as mild and gentle as you would expect from its cottontail namesake.

Ingredients: Water, Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Dipropylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Arginine, Fragrance, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Polyacrylate, Propylene Glycol, PVM/MA Copolymer, Propylparaben, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Fruit Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben  cosDNA.com analysis

LadyKin Affinific Snail Cream and Affinitic Whitening Moisturizer (Yam Cream)   2 baby snails @ 5 mL each RV $8.00

I already have tried these so I will just repeat what I wrote up when I received them in a Beautibi box a few months back.

First up, Snail Cream.  Why snail slime? Snail secretion extract will increase skin elasticity and increase firmness, while helping repair skin from blemishes, reducing acne and working to lighten hyper-pigmentation scarring.  It really works for me and many others.

The Affinitic Snail (peach snail)  cream contains 80% snail secretion filtrate, and is supposed to lessens the appearance of wrinkles, whether they are deep or fine, due to anti-wrinkle ingredients of adenoisine and snail slime which will also keep your skin elastic and firm. The red rose wine and morning glory extracts will help lift and firm your skin, while protecting it from external damages. It will also soften skin and repair sun damaged skin because of the rosemary, chamomile, allantoin and tea tree ingredients, while moisturizing and soothing your skin with its herbs of lavender, peppermint and rosemary. This is free from parabens, synthetic pigments, mineral oil, benzophenone, and BHT.

Ingredients: Snail Secretion Filtrate (80%), Water, Butylene Glycol, Cyclomethicone, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Ethyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) Butter, Panthenol,  Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ipomoea Hederacea (morning glory) Callus Culture Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (lavender) extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) extract, Chamomilla Recutita (matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (peppermint) Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea tree) Extract, Rose Extract,  Wine Extract, Sucrose, Mineral Salts, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polysorbate 60, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract,  Adenosine, Allantoin, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

The Blue Mini Snail is the Affinitic Whitening Moisturizer (Yam Cream)     This is a gel cream, clear and what is very interesting to me is that Yam extracts are supposed to be just as effective as snail secretion filtrate, so for those who have issues with putting snail slime on their face (I personally do not!), this might be a good substitute ingredient to look for.

Description:  Moisture enriched cream keeps skin soft, smooth and supple by enveloping it in a protective water veil that seals in moisture and blocks out irritants. The active ingredient of yam is proven to be equally effective as snail mucin in repairing skin damage and boosting the natural protective layer. The nourishing blend of bamboo leaf, green tea, hinoki cypress and pine needle extracts then serve to purify and brighten complexion for a noticeable improvement in skin health. (source)

  • Effects of Clean, Dewy, Moist-full Yams!
  • Plant-based ingredients obtained from yams similar to snail secretion filtrate!
  • Prevents dry, rough skin by protecting it from external environment and forming a water veil on the skin surface.
  • Keeps the skin soft, smooth and shiny by preventing or improving damaged skin.
  • Bamboo leaf extract, as a skin whitening agent, keeps the skin healthy bright, clean and clear from the inside out.
  • Extracts of green tea, hinoki cypress and pine needle are effective for purifying the skin and tightening enlarged pores.
  • Yam extract, as a natural moisturizer, replenishes brittle, rough skin with sufficient moisture.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Dioscorea Japonica (yam) Root Extract, Betaine, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Chamaecyparis Obtusa (hinoki cypress) Leaf Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf Extract, Pinus Densiflora (Japanese red pine) Leaf Extract, Beta-Glucan, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate, Sucrose, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance cosDNA.com analysis

What to do with your empty snails?  Make them into flower pots!

Despite the pink eyeshadow, I did like this month’s bag a lot more than last month’s.   I love the snails from Ladykin ~ I gave some of these to my mother for Christmas, and she was so thrilled ~ she calls them lumaca (snail in Italian) and keeps them by her bedside.  I am thrilled to have the Nature Republic and Scinic products and I will use the Tonymoly bunny mist, although I wish it had been the sleek version.   I paid $24.00 for my bag + $3.95 shipping for a total of $27.95 and received a BeautequeValue** of $69.99 and they did over inflate the prices on several items ~ Natural Republic, Scinic and A’Pieu.

** Just as with Memebox, the values of these products are the manufacturer’s retail value, but you can find them much cheaper elsewhere.

Did you subscribe to Beauteque’s Monthly Bag?  If so, what did you think of this month’s bag?   Let me know in the comments section below 😀   If you want to save 10% off any purchase at Beauteque.com, use MICHELE10 as your promo code!  Use as often as you would like 😀

    1. They have different plans — I was going month by month, so total for me was 27.95 for the USA (international is more in shipping) They have 3, 6 and 12 month subs, so you can save a few dollars more, but you do have to pay up front. I didn’t end up using them all, as some of the items are not appropriate for my skin type or skin tone (makeup items). If you are looking to build up your skincare “closet”, beauteque is a really good deal, because they give you full sized items. I have too much product now, which is why I took a little break from them — I am at the point where I would rather get deluxe samples and then decide if I wish to purchase the full sized items.

      1. Yikes, a bit pricey 😅 and definitely I can see myself trying to finish up a product and having them pile up each month! I totally agree deluxe size items are the way to go if wanting to try products before purchasing. I did hear of Beautique and Mask Maven.. they seem interesting.. perhaps in the future! ☺️ thanks for your response!
