Unboxing January 2016 MaskGenie!

I received my January 2016 pouch right before January ended!!  I guess they went out a bit late this month, but I am still impressed that it took only 10 days to get to me from Hong Kong.

MaskGenie is a monthly subscription of masks ~ facial sheet mask, body masks, wash off masks and hair masks.  The owner lives in Hong Kong and she (Genie) tries out the masks and determines which ones she feels are worthy for her customers to try.   Shipping is extremely fast ~ within a week, I get my pouch.  You can order the 8-10 mask pouch for $23.99 and that includes shipping and she just doesn’t ship to the USA ~ MaskGenie ships all over the world.  The 5 pouch mask set is being discontinued starting January 2016, as there wasn’t a lot of subscribers to that and the 10 pouch is now 8 to 10 masks, as Genie wants to be able to add in higher end (more expensive) masks to the pouch ~ the value will still be there, however, it is just that some masks will be more expensive.

Sexylook Look Superior Moisturizing Black Facial and Neck Mask (Taiwan)  Am I the only one that starts humming “I’m too sexy for my shirt” when I see a Sexylook mask or am I dating myself here?  And yes, this was a huge hit when it came out.. and I also hated it (but it has a catchy tune.. on the catwalk..)

So, anywho, with that song and those images now seared into your brain (hey, I am all about sharing the love here), this mask is a charcoal black mask and is supposed to be super moisturizing.   It is made of 100% pure Japanese cotton in a 4D facial and neck design, so it will fit your face and wrap around your neck well. The black mask is formulated with activated carbon (charcoal) to help absorb dirt and excess oil.  This is also a snail mask and snail secretion filtrate (slime) will help protect and repair your skin’s barrier.  It also contains hyaluronic acid to help reduce inflammation and moisture while locking in moisture; Green Tea extract is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants to help detox and combat free racials that cause aging.  And finally, another key ingredient is aloe vera, which also moisturizes while soothes your skin.   RV $4.99

Ingredients: water, dipropylene glycol, glycerin, butylene glycol, hydroxyethyl urea, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, citric acid, niacinamide, chlorphenesin, xanthan gum, carbomer,  dipotassium glycyrrhizate, phenoxyethanol, triethanolamine, iodopropynyl butycarbamate,  camellia sinensis leaf extract, chrysanthellum indicum extract, snail secretion filtrate, hematite extract, sodoum hyaluronate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Milatte Fashiony Collagen Mask Sheet (S Korea)  This is made with 0.1% collagen and the description and image on the package are conflicting.  The image shows a pig, which made me think that the collagen was from pigs, but it isn’t ~ the description states that this contains soluble collagen derived from soy beans.   So, if you are adverse to piggy collagen, this mask might be for you!   I also like that it has apple extracts, as that is a great antioxidant and astringent ingredient.    This also has beta glucan, which is more powerful than hyaluronic acid in terms of hydration and locking in moisture.  RV $1.30

This month is a good solid bag, with several unknown brands and a few favorites!  I love Sexylook and am really excited to try out the acid mask ~ I’ve also added a couple of soy, sake and snail masks in my upcoming IG mask reviews, too.  I paid $23.99  for this pouch, which included shipping, and received a retail value of around $21.88.   A lot of these masks I would not have know to try without this service and in some cases, are very hard to come by in the USA and outside of Asian countries.

If you are interested in MaskGenie,  just go to her online store at www.skinilove.com  and you can place your order that way, which would be month by month OR if you think you want this to be a reoccurring subscription, email Genie at her FB page at and let her know to invoice you monthly.

Do you get this month’s pouch from MaskGenie?  What are you looking forward to trying out?

  1. Ha! I don’t sing any songs while wearing masks because I hit Ye Olde Snoozeeeee lol Super unboxing because you went into so much detail. (Sorry I comment too much but I just found this site and am like yay!)

  2. This looks like a very diverse collection of masks. Curious to see how you like each; I’d never seen a LOT of these before. I got that “firefighter” mask on eBay a while ago, then used it, but I don’t remember what it was like.

  3. I am still waiting on my January pouch, and February ships next week. I hope I get mine, as these masks look really amazing. I’ll have to contact her after her holiday if I still don’t have my bag. Looking forward to trying these masks, will be bummed if my bag doesn’t show up!
