A little while ago, I did review Tosowoong eye liners, which was courtesy of Rose Rose Shop for an unbiased review. Rose Rose Shop also sent me a trio of lip tints from Tosowoong ~ Makeon Dual Shaking Lip Tint. I haven’t had a lot of success with lip tints, so I was interested in giving these a try.
Rose Rose Shop is a K-Beauty online shop that has thousands of Korean name brand items, from skincare to cosmetics. They do not have free shipping, but they have very good prices and I have purchased many items from their shop in the past and will continue to do so.
I’ve not had a lot of luck with lip tints ~ as I find that the color is too unnatural or painful to apply. I do have one that I love, but it is expensive. I am happy to try out new lip tints to see if I can find a more inexpensive version.

Description: Dual shaking lip tint offers you a great plumping effect with long-lasting color. The natural ingredients (Avocado oil) provide you tender and healthy lips. Extremely soft and ergonomic tip is perfect for your sensitive lips and prevents your lips from external damage
I received all three colors in this line ~ #1 Orange, #2 Vampire and #3 Red. These lip tints are unusual as they have a distinct separation from the moisturizing oil layer and the tint layer. When you move the lip tint around, the tint layer ebbs and flows around the oil layer like a lava lamp!
Three ingredients caught my eye with this product
- Vanillyl Butyl Ether ~ this is a warming/plumping agent ~ instead of using capsicum (red pepper), which is known to have skin irritation ~ this ingredient is used as more gentler alternative. This ingredient causes the plumping action, the spicy flavor and the vanilla like scent.
- Persea Gratissima (avocado) ~ Avocados are full of antioxidant carotenoids, such as alpha and beta caroten , these antioxidants combat free radical and environmental damage and protect your skin from premature aging. It is also full of Vitamin C, which helps stimulate the production of collagen, which leads to firmer skin and Vitamin E, another powerful antioxidant, combating not only free radical damage, but protecting and reducing the effects of UVA and UVB sun exposure radiation. It also has an omega-9 fat, high oleic acid, leaving lips skin soft and moisturized, while regenerating damaged skin cells
- Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E) The antioxidants of all antioxidants ~ prevents free radical formation, protects the upper skin layer from initial harmful UV radiation and prevents the deterioration of fats in your cell membranes. It nourishes your lips, leaving them smooth, soft and silky.
The lip tint has a soft doe foot applicator to apply the product. Now, you are supposed to shake the contents well, mixing the tint and oil layer and then apply. HOWEVER. Every time I did that, all I got was OIL with a few dots of tint ~ if that. You can see in the above photo that I did shake the product. I went back to the drawing board and let the tint settle back down and then just applied the tint to my lips without shaking the product. I not only got more color that way, but also some of the moisturizing oil. I immediately felt a slight warmth and tingle as the vanillyl butyl ether ingredient started to work. I didn’t really notice a major plumping action. I used my fingers to spread the tint around my lips ~ I made sure I used an invisible lip liner, such as Bite Beauty Line & Define Lip Primer, to line my lips in order to avoid bleeding of the product. Do not use a liner all over your lips ~ the wax will prevent the product from staining your lips and you will just have beads of tint on your lips instead.
Color payoff ~ As one of my biggest fears is a bright neon shade with lip tints and these were described as VIVID, I was surprised to see how light and natural these tints are. I actually like the lighter shades with the orange and red. Vampire, which is a beautiful burgundy shade, could have been darker for me. However, these are not that long lasting ~ the tint was easily faded within an hour and I can wash these tints off with just normal soap and water ~ most lip tints need an oil cleanser of some type to remove. That said, I think that these would be great as a base for other lip products because they give just enough color to your lips and would enhance similar lip colors.

The following photos contain the lip product, the direct application of product and then the product smudged out to blend the oil and tint layer together.
#1 Orange This is a definitely an orange shade, not peach or coral. I view this as more of a summer shade.
Ingredients: cyclomethicone, water, C12-15 alkyl ethylhexanoate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, cyclopentasiloxane, fragrance, 1,2-hexanediol, vanillyl butyl ether, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), phenoxyethanol, BHT, yellow 5 (CI 19140), acid red 18 (CI 16255)
#2 Vampire This is a beautiful burgundy color and it is my favorite of the three. I wish the color payoff was darker, but it is a good shade for me.
Ingredients: cyclomethicone, water, C12-15 alkyl ethylhexanoate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, cyclopentasiloxane, fragrance, 1,2-hexanediol, vanillyl butyl ether, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), phenoxyethanol, BHT, red 33 (CI 17200), yellow 5 (CI 19140), carbon black (CI 77266), ceteth-25, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil
#3 Red This is officially marked as “Blood”, but many sites call it Red. I guess no one wants a blood lip tint. Out of the 3 shades, this one had the most color payoff. It is a cherry red color.
Ingredients: cyclomethicone, water, C12-15 alkyl ethylhexanoate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, cyclopentasiloxane, fragrance, 1,2-hexanediol, vanillyl butyl ether, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), phenoxyethanol, BHT, acid red 18 (CI 16255)
Final Thoughts
Hmm. I have mixed feelings about these lip products from Tosowoong. On the one hand, I like that they are natural and light shades ~ at least with Orange and Red. I would rather have Vampire more vampy and deep, however, that is still my favorite of the trio. However, if you are looking for vivid shades, you will be disappointed. These are not long lasting at all, as well. The biggest issue are the instructions ~ I could not get any tint product to speak off when I shook the tube ~ I just got a lot of oil! If anyone got these to work by shaking the tube, let me know! Maybe I am not doing it right ~ although, how can one go wrong by just shaking the tube?
On the positive side
- If you are looking for a natural lip, these shades are for you
- Great spicy, minty taste and tingling on the lips (this can be a negative for some)
- Good base for other lip products
- Inexpensive
You can purchase these lip tints at Rose Rose Shop (click here) and it is currently on sale for $4.31, not including shipping. Rose Rose Shop ships internationally and always gives out free samples.
Many thanks to Rose Rose Shop for generously sending me these lip tints for review for review!

I received these aswell, and you are right that it is hard to shake them and get a proper emulsion. The Tonymoly Shaking Tint Delight (which is an oil based shaking tint, too) works much better in this point, and it is longer lasting, that’s my impression so far…

Good to know that I wasn’t the only one that had problems with this! I am not sure if I like the shaking tint idea – my favorite lip tint is Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss in velvet – it is a beautiful burgundy tint with a sheer red gloss. Very long lasting too. A bit pricey at 19.00, but I find it well worth the $$
