January 2016 Peaches & Petals Unboxing

Peaches & Petals is a subscription service that is focused on lifestyle and beauty products.  From their website  “Experience our world of fun, flirty and fashionable vintage-modern lifestyle in a hand-curated box delivered to you each month. ”  I have been pretty pleased over all with the last 2 months, and Peaches & Petals sent me a box to review.  Once again, many thanks to Peaches & Petals for their generosity 🙂

Hamilton Beach Fruit Infuser Bottle
This was the spoiler to this month’s box and I am really happy to get this!  This is a 17 oz bottle that is leak and spill proof and has a lime green silicone grip and handle ~ I think the colors may vary.   This is BPA-free and the bottle is glass ~ I am trying to drink more water as more water = lose weight!  I am currently using an app on my phone called Plant Nanny to help remind me how much and when to drink my water.

This has a basket that you can place sliced fruits ~ strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, oranges, limes, lemons ~ or veggies such as cucumbers and also herbs, such as basil or mint. Fill up the basket, top off with the lid and then fill with water. I leave mine overnight in the frig and I really enjoy drinking water this way. I am going to value this at $15.00, as it is very well made.

Inspirational  Decal  It is nice, I like the colors and the saying.    I will probably attach this to a magnet and place on my frig.   The quote “To live will be an awfully big adventure” is from Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie   RV $1.00

Adventure Jewelry Bracelet  This is a strange piece.  It is very large and I guess it “hooks” with the gold toned plane and cloud, but it is so temperamental, it won’t stay hooked.  I think this is better suited to be around a candle as there is no way this is going to stay on my wrist.   RV $2.00

Kikkerland Selfie Stick   Woot!  I can always use another selfie stick ~ this one has an extendable handle ~ from 12 inches to 27.55 inches ~  and the button is on the handle.  You just plug the audio cord into the audio jack onyour phone and you can start taking selfies!   I have a Hello Kitty selfie stick (lol) but that one is temperamental to use, while this one is more sturdy.   Everyone who has a smart phone NEEDS to have a selfie stick.  I’m just sayin’..  This will work with iPhone and Android 4.0 and up.   It is not compatible with Windows OS or Blackberry.     RV $12.50

Family Circle Healthy Home-Style Cooking Cookbook    I was very surprised to see such a heavy item in this month’s box.   I can always use some new inspirations for recipes and this has 300 different ones, ranging from appetizers, side dishes, main meals, soups and desserts.   They also are all 30 minutes or less to make, which for me is very important ~ as by the time I get home from work, it is past 7pm and I don’t want to spend 2 hours cooking my dinner.    This is a 2011 edition, but recipes are recipes and this is a nice hardcover book with glossy photos and easy to understand directions.   I love it when cookbooks have photos of the final dish, as it helps me understand how it is supposed to look like (and also tempts me to try and make it).   The RV is $34.95, but you can get this on Amazon for $12.99 (includes shipping)

Peaches & Petals monthly subscription boxes are $19.99 a month (new price change starting January 15th) and that includes shipping.   However, if you already subscribe to Peaches and Petals, you are locked into the $14.99 rate until March 15th.   This is still one of the lower priced lifestyle boxes out there.   January’s box looks to be of  a retail value of almost $44.00 ~ $65.00 (depending on the cookbook value), with the water bottle, selfie stick and cookbook taking up the bulk of the value.

Last month’s Peaches and Petals was really outstanding, so it was a hard month to beat.  That said,  outside of the bracelet, which weird fitting and will be up-cycled to be an accessory for my candles, I really like all of the items in this month’s box.   The water bottle is great to have and a wonderful reminder to DRINK MORE FLUIDS!!   I also am pleased with the selfie stick as I write up mini reviews of facial sheet masks at my IG account and sometimes I do a facial shot, so this is very handy.   The cookbook is fantastic and I cannot wait to try some of the baked fruit items in there ~ I love baked fruit in the wintertime.   I think they did a fairly decent job this month as I will use all of the items (some more than others) and it looks like they are hitting their stride now

Next month’s spoiler is Love themed pillow cover, and the style varies ~ it looks really nice!  If you are interested in subscribing, use promo code PEACHFIND and get 50% off your first box with Peaches and Petals.    This code is only valid on the monthly subscription option and will not work on a 3, 6 or 12 month option.

They also included an info card on a monthly subscription box for dogs!   PetTreater.com is the subscription service and if you use promo code JANP-BED, you will receive a free dog bed in your first box.

  1. Really interesting review! A lot of the other reviews I’ve read on Peaches & Petal are rather negative so it’s nice to see a positive take on the box. Compared to other boxes you receive would you say it’s good value?

    1. I think that for 14.99, it is a fairly good value — it isn’t a sexy box per say, you won’t get high end items in here, but it is practical. I have used items from each box I have gotten and there has been a few duds, but overall, I have been pleased. Now, with the price increase, I am not sure how that will affect the box value. I hope that they will be able to get rid of some of the lesser items and replace them with better ones, so I guess time will tell on that.

If people are expecting popsugar, they will be disappointed. But if you love the target boxes (which I do!), this is a nice inexpensive sub that has some cool items in it. Just be warned — many of the items are made in China, but that is no different than anything else sold in the USA. Some people do try and avoid the Made In China label, so this might not be a good sub for them. But even popsugar has items made in china in their boxes, so….

      1. That’s an interesting point, I wonder if PopSugar has spoilt people with their expectations!

Hmm might just stick with the beauty boxes for now. I think the danger with these more lifestyle boxes is that you end up with more clutter in the house!
(though my beauty drawer isn’t exactly uncluttered….)
