The Vegan Glow New Releases!

Vegan skincare is exciting to me and I was so pleased that The Vegan Glow made me a brand ambassador again!   The Vegan Glow marries my love for Green and Clean Beauty with K-Beauty.   Based on years in the Korean skincare industry, The Vegan Glow formulates their products to use the most effective ingredients, eliminating unnecessary ingredients, such as artificial scents and animal derived ingredients.  They are certified vegan and cruelty free brand and EWG (Environmental Working Group) green rated ingredients, with an environmentally friendly profile.  The Vegan Glow is also free from parabens, sulfates (SLS and SLES), phthalates, PEG’s and dimethicones. You can read my previous reviews on their products here.  The Vegan Glow sent me their latest releases a couple of months ago, before they were even released, and WOW they are great.

⁣I am a huge fan of shampoo bars as I find them to be very handy and travel friendly, but sometimes they don’t lather as well as they should.  That is until The Vegan Glow came out with their shampoo bars.    The Vegan Glow already has a shampoo bar, called the Original Shampoo Bar, which I love.  I didn’t know they were coming out with a NEW shampoo bar as well and guess what?  I love that too!   The  Quinoa Protein Shampoo Bar is for those of us who need some special TLC due to heat-damage and/or color treating our hair (raises hand).  This has a few lathering  agents in here, starting with coconut derived  sodium cocoyl isethionate, known for its rich, creamy, dense foaming abilities, while secondary cleanser coco-betaine  is a lather-booster.  Sodium cocoamphoacetate is another surfactant that helps increase lather and allows oil and water to mix, so it can aid in cleansing.

This has quinoa seed extract in it, which is an excellent ingredient for hair care ~ the proteins in quinoa help retain hair color and it contains all of the nine essential amino acids so it helps strengthen your hair.  It nourishes from the top of your scalp and its hair follicles down to the hair strand.  It  helps seal your hair cuticles for smoother, silky hair and it also can help with reducing hair loss, as it contains vitamin E. Water-soluble hydrolyzed soy protein improves the texture of your hair, but making it look healthy, shiny and silky.  It also helps repair damaged hair while strengthening the hair fiber.

There are also some great oils in here for your hair, starting with olive oil which helps  hair stay moisturized and strong. Castor seed oil is 90% ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that helps increase blood flow to your follicles, helping to stimulate hair growth.  Castor seed oil also provides hair glossiness and flexibility.  Camellia seed oil  contains Omega 6 linoleic acid, helping to condition yet unblocking hair follicles to help stimulate hair growth.  It also has Omega 9, oleic acid, keeping your hair from losing moisture, making your hair softer.

There are also some botanicals in here as well ~ sweet flag root is rich in vitamin C and can help with hair growth,  houttuynia cordata has been used to promote hair growth and strength your hair while centella aids in blood circulation on your scalp, which allows for healthy hair growth.   Another blood circulation booster is capsicum annuum fruit or cayenne pepper and it helps to improve hair growth as well.

Ingredients: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Coco-Betaine, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acorus Calamus Root Extract, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Aniba Rosodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein Extract, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Capsicum Annuum Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Niacinamide, Panthenol, Linalool cosDNA

This has a beautiful coral pink color, which I have to think is from the cayenne pepper ~ I didn’t pick up much of a scent with this shampoo bar even though it has rosewood oil in it.  This has a pH level of about a 6, which is slightly higher than the Original Shampoo Bar.

The lathering is amazing with this one ~ just like the Original Shampoo Bar.  Lots of lather ~ dense, silky and foamy, it doesn’t take much to be activated. I just make sure my hair is wet and just rub the bar a few times over my hair and voilà, I have tons of foam.  This rinses away clean with no dry or straw like texture afterwards.  I do need to use a conditioner as my hair is so fine that it tangles even when wet.   My hair feels very clean and is shiny.  Does it help with keeping the color in my hair?  I think it does help somewhat ~ my hair grows so fast to begin with, so I will start seeing roots right away, but the fading is not as fast.

Kombucha PHA Toner ~ kombucha in skincare is all the rage! This gentle fermented toner contains 7% kombucha  is actually fermented black tea (saccharomyces/xylinum/black tea ferment), full of both pre & pro-biotics.  Fermented black tea is full of antioxidant catechin, helping to improve the clarity of your skin ~ think zit healing,   texture ~ think smoothing and soft, and  elasticity, while its pre-botiotics polyphenols help with anti-aging concerns, repairing and rejuvenating the skin.    There aren’t a lot of ingredients in this toner ~ only 12, so it is great for those who prefer less ingredients in their skincare.

Erythriotol is a fermented sugar alcohol that is a humectant.  It is found naturally in foods, such as grapes, honey, cheese, wine.  Along with glycerin, this product has a nicel is the first sugar alcohol manufactured using a fermentation-based process, latest moisturizing ingredients to be used topically is erythritol, a natural humectant for personal and skin care applications. Erythritol is naturally occurring in foods such as grapes, melons and honey, as well as in fermented foods such as cheese and wine. Glycerin,

This also contains 0.5% of PHA (Poly Hydroxy Acids) gluconolactone. PHA is a third generation peeling/exfoliating ingredient, like AHA and BHA, but it is less irritating.  It is just as effective as an AHA, but it is gentle and mild, as the molecules in PHA are larger and do not penetrate deeply into the skin.   PHA’s take longer to show results, but if you use a product for about a month or so, you should see some skin tone and texture improvement.   PHA’s also have hydrating and moisturizing benefits that can help strengthen your skin barrier function and they contain anti-oxidant properties, making it a good choice for anti-aging skincare products.

Antioxidant arginine is an essential amino acid that promotes collagen production to combat aging. Anti-inflammatory panthenol  helps cellular renewal and is an effective moisturizer. It is derived from plants and this ingredient comes from vitamin B5. Panthenol is another natural humectant, which retains moisture and hydrates the skin. It also is a good lubricant on the skin, making skin look soft and smooth. Allantoin is a non-irritating ingredient that calms the skin, helps soften, hydrate and protect.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea Ferment(7%),  Glycereth-26, 1,2-Hexanediol, Erythriotol, Butylene Glycol, Gluconolactone(0.5%), Arginine, Allantoin, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin cosDNA

This comes in a plastic bottle with a pin hole applicator ~ the toner is a very watery toner and has no scent.  It has a pH level of 5, making it mildly acidic and skin friendly.  This toner is very refreshing on the skin and if you have oily skin, it is a treat ~ it hydrates while leaving the skin feeling fresh, no oily or greasy residue.  In fact, I found this to help cut down on my oils and helped with the clarity of my skin, with the gentle PHA exfoliator.   This is primarily a hydrating toner that will help with keeping your skin in balance.  It is a simple toner, but toners like these should be an essential in everyone’s skin care cabinet.  I am so happy that The Vegan Glow made a toner as that was on my wishlist from them!
