Get Your Glam Rest with Sleep & Glow Pillow!

I have always known that using a pillow with a silk or silk-like fabric for the pillowcase  is good for your skin ~ cotton pillowcases can cause friction and “sleep wrinkles” on our skin while we sleep, so having a smooth surface to cradle our head will help eliminate that.  However, my issues haven’t been around using a silky pillowcase ~ I have lots of them.  My issues stem from being a tosser & turner while having sleep apnea and bouts of vertigo. Wearing a CPAP device at night makes it difficult to find a decent position.

Some products were complementary to review and was not paid.  All reviews are my own honest opinion and  I never have been asked to write copy for a brand.  This blog post might contain promo codes, affiliate and referral links, which using my links will help generate a small commission that helps support my blog at no extra cost to you.

Sleep & Glow sent me their pillow, which not only has a silky pillow case,  but the actual shape design has been developed along with orthopedists, cosmetologists and sleep specialists, so I will have the correct body position while I sleep.  This pillow is patented in the USA, EU and Japan, designed and handmade in Europe with the highest standards and European safety approved fabrics and materials.

The standard pillow case that comes with the pillow is made 100% natural Tencel, although they do sell a 100% silk pillowcase separately.  Tencel is a sustainable material, eco-friendly and made from eucalyptus fibers. Tencel has a lot of benefits

  • softer than silk and skin friendly
  • cooling
  • more absorbing than cotton, providing moisture control, reduces bacteria growth
  • naturally anti-microbial, so it resists dust mites, bacteria and other allergens
  • washes easily in the clothes washer and hang to dry

I spilled some cranberry juice on the pillow case and thought, oh no that is going to stain.  Nope, it didn’t ~ I tossed in the clothes washer and the stain came out beautifully!   You do have to air dry it, but the fabric dries quickly and then you can take a steam iron to it, if you wish too.  I like that it has a back zipper, so the pillow case won’t come off the pillow ~ a lot of silky pillowcases will slip and slide right off the pillow, so I like how secure it is.

The second item is the pillow core, which is made of 100% “memory foam”, an adaptive polyurethane form that contains silver ions.  This material was originally created by NASA for astronauts during space travel.  The memory foam will adjust to your head, neck and back as you sleep.

The pillow has a cradle for your head in the center of the pillow, which helps you sleep more on your back.   You should make sure that the pillow is in the right position as well ~ it has two bolsters, one with a thicker and bigger bolster that is above your head.  The smaller and thinner bolster is under your neck.  There are also side cradles that prevents your skin from being squashed and smushed when you sleep on your side and it helps prevent sleep wrinkles and puffiness.  The shape of the pillow provides your neck, spine and body with the best and healthiest position for sleeping.  Best yet, if you are a tosser and turner like me at night, the soft memory foam and pillow shape allows me to change positions all night long in comfort.

Both the silky Tencel pillowcase and the ergonomically correct 3D pillow core will help minimize  what is called “sleep wrinkles”.   There are two types of wrinkles, expression wrinkles and then there are those caused over time from squashing squishing and smushing your face into your pillow every night.   Your skin gets stretched, causing creases, indentations and puffiness from all this tugging and friction.

Sleep wrinkles are normally temporary but they can actually exacerbate existing expression wrinkles, due to the location and normal creasing of expression lines.  Sleep wrinkles are normally vertical, but around the delicate areas, such as the skin around your eyes, they can be horizontal.  Sleep wrinkles and creasing usually go away once you wake up and your skin bounces back, but just like everything else, at some point and time, they won’t go away and they will be permanent.  Looking at my face in the mirror, I know I have sleep wrinkles around the corners of my mouth.

The silky feel of the Tencel pillowcase helps reduce friction, but it cannot reduce the weight of your head on a pillow which is causing all that smushing, leading to skin indentations and sleep wrinkles. Obviously the best way to sleep is on your back, face up, but most of us don’t sleep like that ~ I love sleeping on my side and I also have a CPAP device with nose pillows, which makes it really difficult to find a comfortable position.

The side cradles of this pillow allow me to position my face so my cheekbone rests on the higher part of the cradle and the rest of my face will be in a lower cradle. This unique side cradle design gives my head support but doesn’t cause my skin to get all squashed and twisted.  Best part yet, it also can accommodate the headgear and tubing on my CPAP device.

What I noticed after using my Sleep&Glow pillow for a month

I have to say this is one of the best pillows I have tried and I have tried a lot.   Bad and old pillows cause tension headaches, fatigue and sleep wrinkles.  I sleep better, that is for sure.  The different heights in the cradles allow me to get into a comfortable position for sleeping without contorting my body.  This gives my spine a chance to relax while I sleep as well.  I noticed that my face isn’t plagued with morning puffiness either and I am not noticing as many morning creases either.   I am hoping that long term,  I can fight back the sleep wrinkles and slow down the progression of them!

Oh and another benefit for those of you who have eyelash extensions ~ the side cradles provide minimal contact with the surface of the pillow so it can help extend the life of your extensions.

This pillow is expensive, but it will last you five years, unlike regular pillows that need to be replaced every 1 to 2 years.  The Omina Pillow with a Tencel Pillowcase is $165.00 USD and you can use my promo code of MICHELE10 to get $10.00 off that price!   This has a 30 day money back guarantee with free USA shipping with orders $180.00 and over.  You also get a 3 year warranty on your pillow as well.  In fact, I am going to order another one of these as I really love this pillow a lot and would like to have two of them.
