Battlez of Beauty Products ~ New Blog Feature

On my Instagram feed, I started out a while back with “Smack Downs”, where I would compare two similar products and proceed to compare and smack the living shit down on one of them.

April 22, 2016 I took on TonyMoly Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel 90% VS Skinfood Honey Moisture Gel 90%.   I loathed TonyMoly for its scent and it was righteously smacked down by the lovely honey scented Skinfood Honey Moisture Gel.

TonyMoly Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel 90% VS Skinfood Honey Moisture Gel 90% This is my mini smackdown between these two very hydrating and lightweight (although a bit sticky) gels. Tonymoly is the first one that I used and although I like how it feels, I hate the scent. It is a floral scent, which is strange, because there is all of these wonderful citrus ingredients in it. So pfftt. I only use it if I HAVE to. Then I purchased Skinfood Honey Moisture Gel 90% ~ this has the same bouncy gel texture, the same lightweight, hydrating properties as the TonyMoly version …..and the scent is sweet honey!! OMG. So much better! Plus it doesn't have alcohol in it, which Tonymoly has, so if you are sensitive to alcohol, you might want to check out the Skinfood version. It not only has 90% honey (first ingredient!) but royal jelly & propolis, completing the trifecta! It has some nice soothing botanicals as well ~ witch hazel, camomile, aloe vera, and seaweeds ~ plus glycosaminoglycan which help maintain & support collagen production, elastin and keep your skin firm and supple ~ along with being an humectant. So, yes! I can toss that floral scented nightmare and replace it with my Skinfood sweet sweet honey version 🙂 I purchased mine at Beauteque if you want to get one yourself. The price point is about the same.. Skinfood is cheaper and they both are 300mL #minismackdownreview #review #tonymoly #skinfood #snailvshoney #kbeauty #rasianbeauty #koreanskincare #bblogger #bbloggers #femalebblogger #femalebeautyblogger #kbeautyblogger #beauteque @beautequeofficial

June 3rd, 2016  I took another TonyMoly product and Skinfood (a theme here!) Skinfood Mint Sparkling Foot Scrub VS Tonymoly Shiny Foot Scrub.  Once again, Skinfood beat TonyMoly, due to the scent and foaming action and I have repurchased Skinfood Mint Sparkling Foot Scrub.  You can read my full review on Skinfood Mint Sparkling Food Scrub here.

November 10, 2016 DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum vs L’Oreal Voluminous Primer. I wanted to see if I could find a cheaper alternative to my most loved DiorShow.  Its a fairly decent dup, not as good as DiorShow ~ it just goes to show you that you get what you pay for!

Mini Compare between DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum vs L'Oreal Voluminous Primer. I don't like wearing false eyelashes and I would never ever get lash extensions ~ too chicken ~ I have tried serums to grow my lashes but all they did was make my eyes red and sore. So, lash primers are the way to go for me. The first and only one that I have used is by DiorShow ~ it really helps boost my lashes by coating that white stuff on them and then when I apply mascara over it, look out! Really natural looking long lashes. But DiorShow is pricey ~ almost $30.00 per tube and I do have to go to Sephora to get it. A lot of times online, as it is always sold out at the store. I received the L'Oreal Voluminous Primer in my Target Beauty Box and it retails for $5.99. Let's see how it compared. I did one eye with Diorshow and the other with L'Oreal. Initially, both go on nicely, coat my lashes and I didn't notice a difference between the two after I applied my mascara. I would say that Diorshow looks to have more "fibers" in it, but the initial application looks to be the same. After 10 hours, I got home and took a look at my peepers. Diorshow still had the length whereas L'Oreal deflated a bit. Not a lot. Not so much that you would notice if you were looking at me. I noticed it because I had my 5X mirror out and was inspecting my lashes! All in all, if you are looking for an inexpensive dup of DiorShow, I think that L'Oreal is a pretty good duplicate. Have you tried either of these? What did you think of them? #minireview #minicompare #diorshow #loreal #review #instablog #makeup #lashes #bblogger #bbloggers #abcommunity #femalebblogger #femalebeautyblogger #femalebblogger #beautyblogger #beautybloggers #dior #sephora #target

I then forgot about my smackdowns… but I started doing mini comparisons with blog reviews and then I decided to start up my Smackdowns and renaming them as The Battle of…  I have done a few Battlez on IG and I will create a separate post for each one going forward here at my blog.  Since it is so hard to search for things on Instagram, I have decided to cross post them here too.  However, you can search for hash tag #unboxingbeautybattles_review and can find them there on IG too.

  1. I loved reading these Smack Downs! I’ve only ever tried Skinfood’s wash off masks but I may have to try these especially the Foot Scrub. Awesome blog post, Michele!
