For the last six weeks, I have been using a trio of Chica Y Chico products that were of interest to me, as they did claim to target specific skin issues
- Chica Y Chico Astazet 4.0 For lightening, brightening, even out skin tone, reduce hyper-pigmentation from either sun damage or blemishes
- Chica Y Chico Beta-Salic 2.0 For blemish care, exfoliation and oily skin. Night treatment only
- Chica Y Chico Retinolin 3.0 To target fine lines and wrinkles. Night treatment only
You can read my initial impressions blog post here, as I did go over in fine detail about the deets, including scent, texture, etc, on these products in that blog post. I won’t get into that here, other than the description and ingredients. This blog post won’t be that long, because these products sucked for me.
From original Initial Impressions Review: I suffer not only blemishes, but have aging concerns ~ fine lines around my eyes ~ and sun damage hyper-pigmentation from the years of neglect when I lived in Los Angeles. This set actually targets all three of my concerns ~ wrinkles, acne and hyper-pigmentation. The photo below is from the right side of my face ~ freshly washed and scrubbed, no moisturizer applied. This is a recent photo and I just came back from a vacation, where my face was exposed to the sun. I did wear sunscreen, but it still caused my spots to come back darker. Now, some people might say.. oh but those are freckles ~ well, yes, I do have freckles and I do not mind small freckles. I do draw the line at huge spots and patchy areas, however. I may have to do a chemical peel with my hyper-pigmentation, but I am trying to avoid it as long as I can
Chica Y Chico Astazet 4.0 Yeah, well, no. The only good thing I can say about this product is that it didn’t break me out and it was very moisturizing. I used it daily, once in the morning and once at night. As I have a few readers that are interested in the routines, here we go
This product was applied after my toner and light watery products that would not have affected this product. I waited 20 minutes after I applied this product on my face before continuing with my skin care routine.
I did not experience any dramatic results and any lightening of my skin was due to the fact that I’ve been a vampire these past 6 weeks. My summer color in the original photo has faded normally. The hyper-pigmentation that was there is still the normal shade it has been. I don’t expect miracles, but I thought that some difference outside of the normal tan fading would have occurred. You must wear sunscreen if you use this product.

Chica Y Chico Beta-Salic 2.0 Epic failure. I had a few minor pimples crop up and used this product and nothing. Not a difference ~ well, not a difference to IMPROVE the blemished area. In fact, one of the minor pimples got bigger. I had to use other measures to get it under control~ see my zit-fighting arsenal here, here and here. This BHA/AHA combo delight was worthless ~ I do think it caused my blemishes to get worse. It is moisturizing, however ~ my zits were not flaky when I used this! haha It does have a strong scent, as it is a blemish “control” treatment. Night Time Routine ONLY and you must wear sunscreen during the day if you use this product
Toners and watery skincare products first. Let dry. Apply this product over T-Zone and blemished areas. Wait 25 minutes for it to absorb before continuing with my night time routine. However, if I had an active blemish, I did not put anything else over that area.

Chica Y Chico Retinolin 3.0 Retinol is an ingredient rarely promoted with Korean skincare and now I know why. If this product is any indication of how the Korean skincare industry formulates it, it doesn’t work for shit. I used this at night, around my eye area. That was it. No difference in my laugh lines. It is moisturizing, so I will keep using it. Night Time Routine ONLY and you must wear sunscreen during the day if you use this product
After cleansing my face, removing my eye makeup, I would apply this around my delicate eye area. Nothing else was added in that area.
Description: Chica y Chico’s Retinolin 3.0 cream is the solution for your stubborn wrinkles and fine lines. It contains 3% of retinol which is highly effective in making the skin firmer and stronger, therefore minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This cream perfectly rejuvenates the skin overnight by supplying abundant nutrients and moisture into the skin while you sleep. This also prevents the appearance of future wrinkles. Retinolin 3.0 cream is free from harsh chemicals which makes it safe for sensitive skin.
How to use: Use this cream at night. After washing and toning, apply this cream onto your face, avoiding the eyes and lips.

Well, what a waste of 6 weeks when I could have been trying out something else. The only product I will use until it is gone is the Retinol item, only because it is moisturizing. I purchased all 3 items for $38.00 as it is a value set at Memebox, so it didn’t set me back that much, but it was the time involved. Also, the Beta product was more than useless as I do think it helped to “promote” my blemishes. Purging, my ass. Don’t talk to me about purging ~ when a product is supposed to help reduce blemishes, that is what it should do. The formula isn’t strong enough to cause purging.
If you still want to purchase these products after this dismal review, go for it. It is your money and YYMV ~ it might work for you ~ it is still available at Memebox here If you already purchased it from Memebox, but haven’t used it yet and don’t wish to use it, you can return them if it is within their 101 day return policy.
If you are new to Memebox, you use my referral link here and get 20% off your first order of $25.00 or more!

Right there with you. Neither the Asta-Z nor the Beta-Salic were winners for me…all I can say after using a full tube of the Asta-Z and using the Beta-Salic for months now is that they haven’t done anything bad.

Well with the previous reply that makes 2 thumbs down then. I am so glad I didn’t waste my money on these since I don’t have a lot to spare as it is. Your hyperpigmentation is not as dark as my own so thinking I would have been highly disappointed. And I’m tired of things that do nothing for fine lines/wrinkles but claim to be so fantastic.
