I am BACCKKKKK with another FOREO review, this time on a toothbrush ~ Oral care is so important to me as I spent a ton of money on my crowns and am a horrible flosser.   See all of my FOREO (FOR-RAY-OH) reviews here  FOREO sent me the ISSA 2 Sensitive Sonic Toothbrush for review purposes.

I do have sensitive gums, due to my spotty flossing technique, so I am trying the ISSA 2 Sensitive Sonic Toothbrush ~ this is made especially for people with sensitive gums.  It comes with two different brush heads, one made from extra soft silicone bristles for those days when you really need to give your gums and teeth a break

The other head that is a combination PBT polymer and  silicone brush head for days you want to have a more vigorous brushing experience and also if you need to remove heavier plaque buildup.  Both brushes last for 6 months ~ if you have a smaller mouth, you might find that the brushes are hard to maneuver towards the back of your teeth.

The ISSA 2 has a sleek, ergonomically correct design that is waterproof with a non-porous, hygienic  silicone body to prevent bacteria build-up and has improved Sonic Pulsation Technology, along with a 365 DAY charge!  Yep, one good charge and you don’t have to recharge this baby for a full year.   

The toothbrush heads both have a ribbed back which is actually tongue cleaner!  Just flip your toothbrush over and run it over your tongue to remove food particles and bacteria backup, plus leave your tongue clean and have fresher breath.  These toothbrush heads will carry 10,000 times less bacteria than nylon bristle toothbrushes.

There are 16 levels of sonic intensities with this toothbrush!  SIXTEEN ~ 11,000 high-intensity pulsations per minute.  Just hold down the + or – buttons to increase or decrease the levels.  ISSA 2 will remember the last setting you had this on so that you don’t need to redo your preferences.  ISSA 2 will operate for 3 minutes and then turn off but if you want to brush your teeth longer, just press once to turn on. 

There is an indicator light that tells you when to switch to a new quadrant of the mouth when brushing, which I never use as I can’t really see the light, and also when it needs to be charged.  Speaking of charging, the port is sealed, making it tricky to open, but thankfully, I only need to charge it yearly. That means this toothbrush is 100% waterproof and you can use it in the shower.

Cleaning your ISSA 2 is easy ~ just rinse well under water, running your fingers through the bristles to get all of the toothpaste off and let air dry.  You also can use FOREO’s Silicone Cleaning Spray on the body of the ISSA 2 and then rinsing off.  Do not clean it in a UV sanitation case nor use a cleaning solution that contains alcohol, acetone or petrol 

You need to charge it up ~ it comes with a USB port cable ~ please use only cables that FOREO provides and sells on their website.  Any of your FOREO cables will work as they are interchangeable.  If you lose your cable, FOREO sells the USB recharger cable for $19.00.   I just plugged mine in and let it recharge overnight.  I haven’t needed to recharge this in 8 months now, using it twice daily.

My Thoughts

The design and silicone body makes ISSA 2 very comfortable to hold and it is very easy to get way back into the mouth to get those back teeth.  I like that I can change the  sonic pulsations to achieve the desired intensity ~ and with 16 options, I won’t get bored with it easily. The bristles are soft yet effective and will not damage tooth enamel or gums.  The combo toothbrush head is great for deep cleaning and I appreciate the tongue scraper as well ~ it doesn’t hurt yet it keeps my tongue clean and fresh. 

It is also easy to clean ~ no more wads of dried toothpaste around where the head and the body attach ~ that has always been a pet peeve of mine ~ no matter how much I clean a toothbrush, I always seem to get toothpaste residue around that area.  

Removing and replacing the head is a breeze too ~ just lift the head straight up and it pops off.   The replacement head just needs to have its center hole aligned up with the body’s metal dowel and then just push down to attach.  The biggest plus is that with just a one hour charge, my ISSA 2 will last 365 days without needing a new charge!

Now that I have gone with a FOREA ISSA toothbrush, I cannot imagine having anything else.  They have several ISSA toothbrushes, ranging from ISSA Mikro for babies and toddlers, ISSA Mini 2 Sensitive, which is a child’s toothbrush but also could be great for adults with smaller mouths, ISSA 2 for non-sensitive teeth and gums and ISSA Play, a great intro to FOREO’s Sonic Oral care line! FOREA also sells the replacement heads as well, so you can stock up and never be without one
