Unboxing October 2015 Flicker Box!

October is the month where the Northeastern part of the US really explodes in colors!   I need to take some photos of the beautiful changing leaves and colors ~ all gorgeous red, rust, orange, yellows against bright blue sky.   This month’s Flicker Box is dedicated to “Sweater Weather”, as the temps turn cooler and sweaters and boots get brought out of storage. What is Flicker Box?

Flicker Box is inspired by a love and appreciation for handmade candles. We believe that people appreciate products produced by quality artisans made in the United States. We want to connect candle lovers with people who love to make candles.

Each Flicker Box contains a variety of artisanal candles made from candle artists from around the United States. We share their story and ship subscribers a delightfully curated box right to their doorstep. Flicker box costs as low as $25/month and can be purchased as an automatically-renewing monthly subscription or 3, 6, or 12 month term subscriptions.  from http://myflickerbox.com/about

Big White Yeti “Sweater Weather” ~  The return of the Bumble 😀  (Come on, you know your Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer!)  I received Grass Stain by Big White Yeti, an etsy shop,  a few months ago and it was a favorite.  I am glad to see them back again, and the theme scent of Sweater Weather is a sparkling apple scent with cinnamon and nutmeg.   It reminds me of going to an apple cider mill, drinking the fresh cold cider with the hot donuts, just sprinkled with spices.  It is no wonder this is Big White Yeti’s most popular Autumn scent.   I really love apple scented candles, and I will put this into my candle burning rotation soon.  This is a travel size candle, smaller than their normal 6 oz candles ~ I think it is either 2 or 3 oz, which means it could have a burn time of  10  – 15 hours.  RV $3.00

Description: This soy candle contains bright notes of ripe apples and a tingle of spice. We’ve infused natural cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and cedarwood essential oils to create this perfect fall candle.  This candle is hand poured and contains all natural everything- pure soy wax, a cotton wick, and from the earth fragrance.

Uncommon Scents “Pumpkin Souffle” ~  Uncommon Scents is another brand that I have received before, and in fact, all of the candles in this month’s box are favorite vendors!  This candle is a lovely warm rustic orange color and WOW ~ it is a spicy pumpkin with sweet buttery notes.   This candle doesn’t smell like pumpkin pie but 110% better!  It is like a pumpkin cheesecake with lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and sugar.  I can’t stop sniffing it, as it is really addicting.  I want a Starbucks pumpkin cheesecake muffin now.  haha  Travel Tin 4 oz  RV $6.00

About Uncommon Scents: At Uncommon Scents, we hand-pour 100% all natural soy wax candles and use phthalate-free premium fragrance oils infused with essential oils. The unique candle scents are only part of the southern charm of the vintage-inspired mason jar containers, hand-wrapped with burlap and twine.  The style and scents of our products are inspired by our love of all things vintage and natural …a renewal of the simpler times, and a rebirth of our Tennessee Smokey Mountain roots. We hope their thoughtfully blended scents, soothing colors and vintage packaging will remind everyone of a time when life was a little slower and we took the time to enjoy the little things.  Uncommon Scents candles have extra-long burn time, are eco-friendly, and are made with love in Decatur, GA.

Wood & Wax Co “Autumn Leaves” ~  This lovely candle came in a muslin bag ~ I love these touches!  This has a light airy scent, very green and bright… Let’s see what Chicago’s Wood & Wax has to say about this scent  ~ ” Autumn Leaves is a light and airy scent with notes of ozone, freshly fallen leaves, crisp fall air, sunshine and ending on light notes of moss. This smells like walking through a forest preserve in October.”  Ahh, well, I do know it is light and airy, and I do smell a mossy scent at the end.   This is a delicate scent that just is so relaxing.   I also love the label on this candle as well ~ very girly! This is hand poured soy candle with an American hardwood wooden wick .  Wood & Wax only uses pure, renewable and US grown soy and their fragrances are paraben and  phthalate free.  Burn time 3 hours 4 oz  RV $14.00

Lit & Co “Cranberry & Clove”  OMG This is fantastic ~ Lit & Co’s Fall seasonal fragrance of Cranberry & Clove is just AMAZING.  It is like homemade cranberry sauce, with the tart cranberry scent, spices of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, plus oranges.    Made in Boise, Idaho, this candle is in a frosted glass jar and a nice brushed silver lid.  Made with natural soy bean wax, pure fragrance oils and a cotton paper wick,  this candle is really classy looking, with its clean lines.   I hope we see Lit & Co for December, as their etsy shop has some AMAZING winter scents ~ pine cones, cider & chestnut, snow,  frankincense + myrrh, mistletoe and blue spruce. 8 oz RV $17.50

Ah, I love fall scents!  Just a great mix of Autumn smells, with apples, cranberries, pumpkins, spices and crisp airy scents.  I love that we are getting into the season where spices will be featured more and I believe October is one of Flickerbox’s most popular months too.  I am pretty happy with my subscription and I have had only one bad month (the floral month) and even then, I was able to gift those candles nad make several people very happy!  This is just a great sub box for candle lovers and I am glad to see the return of some really great artisans in this month’s box.     This box’s value is  $40.50  and I paid $34.00 for my box, as I am on a month to month subscription.  I have no plans on stopping this sub!

Flickerbox also has a store, where you purchase candles that were featured in their past boxes.
