Memebox Milk Box #Milkbox Unboxing!

Milk, Milk, Milk….I usually save my milk skincare products for the cooler months, as I have oily skin ~ however, milk skincare products are good all year round for those who have normal to dry skin.  I was debating whether I should purchase this Milk box, as the current season of a hot and muggy summer is ahead of me, but since I do not know when Memebox will do another Milk box, I decided to get it.  I was very happy with the Milk box last year (so long ago),  especially with the Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk & Argan Oil Multi Steam Cream (wish Memebox would carry that item) and loved Beauteque’s Head To Toe Milk bag earlier this winter.

Why is milk so important in skincare?  I wrote this up in one of my other reviews, but I think it is is important to mention it again.  Cleopatra was reported to have bathed in milk to keep her skin youthful, brighter and blemish free of imperfections.   Milk hydrates and replenishes the skin with moisture, keeping it nourished and radiant. Milk protein extracts help shrink pores, soothes skin irritations, helps lighten skin discolorations from acne, exfoliates dead skin cells, helps speed up the healing of wounds and smooths your skin.

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.

Milk Box #Milkbox

It is said that Cleopatra attributed her healthy skin to a secret ingredient- milk! And have you ever heard that saying, “milk does the body good”? As a skin care ingredient milk can moisturize and improve overall complexion. It can hydrate, replenish, and reveal glowing skin. Do yourself a favor and add it to your skin care routine if you have not already.

Secret Key Whipping Cleansing Foam  I love Secret Key Whipping Hand Cream so I am interested in this cleansing foam.   This product doesn’t have that baby powder scent, it is more light and nice, but…. the pH level on this product is very HIGH, clocking in at around 10!    I will be using this as a body wash.  I am getting a lot of body washes by the way of facial cleansing foams!   ahaha Full Size 80 g Value $8.10

Love the logo on the back

Skin Factory Skin Angel Milky Star Premium White   This product is the one that interests me the most in this box.  This is a wash off mask pack that you apply after you have cleansed your face.  Massage in for 1 to 2 minutes, then wash off with warm water only (no cleanser) for 3 to 5 minutes and then apply your normal skin care products.   This is supposed to brighten your skin tone ~ whitening just means to brighten, but the photos below from the product line do show a remarkable transformation.    What this is doing is putting a white film on your skin that will wash off.   However, the ingredients in this product might point to a long time solution, as the white film is a temporary solution.   The packaging states it has snail slime in it, but it isn’t in the ingredients on the box (either in English or Korean).  However, these ingredients are in the product, according to the label and it seems that this will have a long term effect to help even your skin tone and brighten it.

  • Arbutin will suppress melanin pigment, which causes hyper-pigmentation and will brighten your skin tone.
  • Morus Alba Bark Extract will also help suppress melanin production along with brightening and moisturizing your skin
  • Niacinamide will brighten and moisturize while renewing skin cells and also acting as an anti-inflammatory
  • Contains vitamins B5 (panthenol), C and E  which help brighten skin,  is an antioxidant that will combat free radicals and prevent premature aging, along with helping collagen production and repairing scar tissues.

This also has two really nice moisturizers to help combat wrinkles, fine lines and will also hydrate and smooth your skin

  • Camellia oil is a light-weight oil that is easily absorbed into the skin and will help fade and heal scars.
  • Shea Butter comes from the Karite tree nuts and nourishes your skin to help reduce wrinkles and improve skin’s elasticity and protect it from environmental aging

This is free from parabens, alcohol, coloring/ synthetic dyes, talc, mineral oil and phenoxyethanol (preservatives).   This is a very thick cream and its texture reminds me of organic sunscreen ~ this is probably due to the titanium dioxide ingredient.  There is a slight scent, but it is nothing overpowering or unpleasant.  The white cast is caused by titanium dioxide, so that explains that temporary “whiteness” which I really dislike.  That said, this mask really does contain brightening products to help reduce hyper-pigmentation and some deeply moisturizing oils, so I think I will use this in my night time routine ~ before my sleeping pack.  That way, I can have that “white face”  without scaring any kiddies but taking advantage of the really good ingredients in this product.    BTW, the description and how to use on Memebox is incorrect.  They put the right information on the informational card.   And there is no milk ingredients in this product ~ it is included because of its name “Milky White” 😉 Full Size 100 mL Value $31.00

Okay, you tell me if my skin got “lighter”.  I rinsed my hand quite well, so I got most of the titanium dioxide off.  Perhaps it isn’t showing up as well in the photos, but my skin was a tad lighter on the side that had the Milky Star product.  Where I circled a part of my hand, you can see the titanium dioxide residue that I didn’t get off when I washed my hand.

Ingredients:  purified water, titanium dioxide, cetyl ethylhexanoate, butylene glycol, glycerin, polysorbate 80, sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate (acrylamide), sodium acrylate (sodium polyacrylate),  copolymer dimethicone (acrylates/dimethicone copolymer), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, isohexadecane, cyclopentasiloxane, glyceryl, stearate, camellia oil, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer,  betaine, sorbitan, shea butter, PEG-100, cycolhexasiloxane, ceresin, panthenol, capryl glycol,  polyacrylamide, xanthan gum, triethoxycaprylsilane, arbutin, C13-14 isoparaffin, allantoin, caprylhydroxamic acid, adenosne, laureth-7, disodium EDTA, dipotassium glycyrriate, centella asiatica extract, morus alba root extract, sodum chondroitin sulfate, soduim hyaluronate, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), fragrance, human oligopeptide-1 analysis

Why do they show snails?  There is no SNAIL extract in here!!

Yes, I x’d that out in the image ~ haha

Secret Key Milk Brightening Toner  As much as I love this product, I was hoping it wouldn’t be in here as I have 1/2 bottle to finish plus a brand new one that I received in a previous Memebox recently.  I will repeat my review here:

I love this toner ~ it is very hydrating and mild, and I use it at night time.  However, with the warmer weather coming up, it will be rotated to my back shelf, as it is a bit too hydrating for my oily skin.   This is a lovely milky watery toner that is so gentle and moisturizing.  This is the perfect toner to use during these cold winter months when the winds and extreme temperatures cause skin damage.  This not only has milk protein extracts as the FIRST ingredient (hydrating), but has galactomyces filtrates (my good ol’ yeasty friend) and extracts of pomegranate (high in antioxidants), ground cherry, raspberry, pasqueflower, potato (anti-aging), carrots, pumpkin (promotes cell turnover), rice, usnea/lichen (anti-inflammatory) and broccoli.   This is chock full of good moisturizing, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and exfoliating ingredients.   This toner has no alcohol in it and is free of parabens, mineral oil, phenoxyethanol, penzophenon and animal oil.    And yes, I painstakingly translated all of the ingredients from the official website by hand ~ so give me some props here!  Full Size 248 mL Value $12.00

Product Description:  Colostrum contains skin growth factor natural protein and natural AHA, so it is effective for skin brightening and its abundance of vitamins, minerals and ions are helpful for enhancing the skins immunity.   The vitamins and minerals of the milk will supply your skin with nutrients and moisture making bright and elastic skin.  And the protein discomposing enzyme in the milk removes keratin and waste materials for bright skin tone as well as balancing skin oil and moisture balance for healthy skin. This gentle, alcohol-free toner is specifically formulated for people who are suffering from sensitive skin. It softens dead skin cells for them to be easily wiped off while also supplying proper moisture to keep the skin firm, smooth and bright

Ingredients: Milk Protein Extract, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis (green tea) Leaf Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/leaf/stem Extract, Solanum Tuberosum (Potato) Pulp Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum (sichuan pepper) Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana (pasqueflower) Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Nonoxynol-12, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Physalis Alkekengi (ground cherry) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, fragrance analysis

Skinfood Steam Milk Mask Cream  Yeah, a milk steam cream!  This isn’t made from donkey’s milk, but it does have milk ingredients in it.  This is a rich cream and even though it states it is “floral-scented”, the scent is so light and barely there, that I do not even pick up on the floral notes.   This cream is made with steamed milk proteins:  rich in amino acids and non-irritating;  beta-glucan: which in skin care products is most likely extracted from baker’s yeast cell walls (saccharmoyces cerevisiae) and contains anti-wrinkling properties, helping your skin rebuild surface cells and restore collagen. Natto gum:  fermented soybeans that help attract and trap moisture in your skin; Vitamin E:  a powerful antioxidant; Yeast extracts:  to help soothe your skin, as it is not only an antioxidant, but an anti-inflammatory.    I love getting milk steam creams as I do use them as night packs in the winter time.  I love the box that this came in, with the cow spots and the label with the tin milk can.  Skinfood has some of the nicest packaging, imho!  Full Size 100 g Value $21.00

Description: A steamed milk-infused cream that immediately melts into your skin and transforms dry skin into a soft, firm and smooth texture, just like a facial mask does

Ingredients:   Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Octyldodecanol, Peg-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Beta-Glucan, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Yeast Extract, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Disodium EDTA, Natto Gum, Polysilicone-11, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Milk Protein, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Fragrance analysis

Skinfood Coconut Milk Hand Cream  This is a really rich, rich hand cream made with coconut extracts and milk proteins.  It does smell faintly like coconuts to me and is very nourishing and dense, as it also contains shea butter, beeswax and ceramide.  This is a hand cream I will save for the colder months, as it is so heavy and dense.  It does have some higher triggers for skin irritants, so if you have sensitive skin, you should do a patch test first.  Full Size 8.5 oz Value $10.00

Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, cyclopentasiloxane, glycerin, hydrogenated C6-14 olefin polymers, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), stearic acid, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, glyceryl stearate SE, cetearyl alcohol, hydrogenated lecithin, cholesterol, ceramide 3, dimethicone, sodium PCA, betaine, sorbitol, glycine, alanine, proline, serine, threonine, argininie, lysine, glutamic acid, alcohol denat, polysorbate 60, beeswax, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, triethanolamine, carbomer, tocopheryl acetate, cocos nucifera (coconut) fruit extract, milk protein, disodium EDTA, methylparaben, propylparaben, phenoxyethanol, fragrance analysis

I did a comparison to last’s years Memebox Milk Box and even though I do miss the Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk & Argan Oil Multi Steam Cream (that was such a great product in the wintertime) but overall this box was more well rounded, even though the Original Milk box was MemeValued at $91.00 and only cost $23.99.   The Skin Ceramic has been replaced by Skinfood Milk Steam Cream, so it will be interesting to see how I like that product.   I really, really, really hope that Memebox will stock the Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk & Argan Oil Steam Cream, because that was just amazing stuff.   I am really interested in the Skin Factory item and need to see how this works long term when I use it nightly.   I paid $39.00 for this box and  received a MemeValue of $82.10.  This box is still available  you still wish to purchase it!

Did you purchase the Milk Box?   What did you think of it and what was your favorite product?

UPDATE:  Memebox USA DOES carry Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk & Argan Oil Steam Cream.  Guess who just purchased it??  ME!  I love this steam cream.

  1. Great review! I’m just starting to delve into the world of K-beauty. After 3+ decades of being bad to my skin, I’m finally starting to see the effects of my poor choices…and it sucks! I used to tan but started noticing in my late 20’s that my skin looked like shiny, parched leather. UGH. I’m all about being snow white now. Funny how different beauty standards are across the globe.

I think I’ll be getting this box. I’m curious…do you think the titanium dioxide in the Milky White lotion would serve as a sunscreen? Or would layering sunscreen on top of it dull its effects?

    1. Hi Suzi! Thank you 🙂 If you click on the analysis link next to the ingredients for the milky white, cosDNA does state it is a UVA/UVB product. the titanium dioxide is the 2nd ingredient in the product, so it is pretty powerful. However, if you put sunscreen on top of it, it should be okay – the instructions do state that you should apply your normal skincare products after the milky white product, so I think it would be okay.

      1. I wish I had known about cosDNA sooner…what a great resource. I’m learning so much from you. Thanks for the info and all of your hard work!

  2. Hi! This is my first Meme box! I love the milk cleanser, but my tube is only filled about 1/3 of the way! Is yours like that or did I get a dud tube? Thanks! I am brand new to Korean skin care, so I have no idea what to expect!

    1. Hi Tiffany, I didn’t notice anything unusual, but I wasn’t paying attention either – as I know that skincare products are not “filled” to the brim. Skincare content is by weight, not volume, which means you can have a lot of “dead” space in your tube and that is very normal. If your cleanser was sealed, it probably is fine. Can you weigh your cleanser tube and see what it states? You can also email Memebox at and ask them as well. Congrats on your first Memebox purchase! It can be addicting 🙂

        1. I did weigh it and it is the correct weight! Ha – I’m such a dork sometimes!
I can see how this can be addictive! I’m new to your blog and I just love it!! I read through your reviews multiple times a day!! The day after I found your page I bought 3 Meme boxes, signed up for Beauteque and Mishibox!! I’m so interested in trying the CosRx line!!

          1. Thank you for your kind words, Tiffany! Yes, it is very habit forming! hahaha Did you get on the waitlist for The3Bbox? That is only 12.00/month ~ kinda like the Birchbox of K-Beauty subscriptions. You will love the CosRX line – if you purchase any, let me know what you get 🙂
