Unboxing Target March 2017 Beauty Box!

So many unboxings to do ~ I feel sorry for my postman at the beginning of them month!   My March Target Beauty Box came the other day.  These aren’t really a surprise beauty box, as Target does tell you everything you will get, but I like to unbox them anyway!

This month’s box was $7.00 and its theme is “Hello, Spring Break” ~ Time to pack your bags and hit the beach.  In this box you’ll find a few of our latest obsessions – inspired by warm-weather getaways. Plus, they’re perfectly sized for on the go.

Informational Card

SoapBox Bamboo Shampoo and Conditioner  One thing I love about Target Beauty Boxes is that they give you the similar sizes of both the shampoo and conditioner when they do include a pair.  Unlike Birchbox that would give you a nice travel size shampoo and a small foil for conditioner!!   These are 2 oz each, so I should get a couple of uses out them ~ I may have shorter hair, but I love to lather on my shampoo (pun intended!)  Both of these have a nice clean scent to it and bamboo, a renewable, sustainable ingredient,  contains over 70% of silica and is great for sensitive scalp types,  as it is an anti-irritant and retains moisture.  Since it contains so much silicia, it also helps produce a protein complex that helps build stronger and healthier hair, glycosaminoglycans.  These two SoapBox products are sulfate and paraben-free  Travel Size 2 oz x 2 RV $1.50

Shampoo Ingredients:  Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Bambusa vulgaris (Bamboo) extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Panthenol, Polyquaternium-11, Polyquaternium-7, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol

Conditioner Ingredients:  Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glycerin, Stearalkonium Chloride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Panthenol, Polyquaternium-11, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Fragrance

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine in Radiant Rose  This is a sheer wash of peony pink lip gloss.  It is a bit sticky, despite the claim that it isn’t a sticky formula, but it does have high gloss, is moisturizing and the color is perfect for spring time.  I normally do not care for pink lip gloss, but this one is more muted and since it is sheer, it will be a great topper for other lippies or just when I want a natural look with a little bit of shine.  I personally would like a deeper color like Velvet Wine, so I was surprised how much I liked this color!!  That said, the wand applicator is a beast to get out of the tube ~ I thought I was going to pull it apart because I needed to put some effort in it.  Neutrogena should rethink the applicator, as it is very difficult to remove and put back in.  Full Size.12 oz  RV $8.99

Description: Bring color, shine, and a healthy look to your lips with Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Tinted Lip Shine. This versatile lip shine combines the vibrant color of a lipstick with the shine of a lip gloss and the conditioning effects of a lip balm. Available in eight lip colors, the non-sticky, non-drying formula leaves your lips looking and feeling hydrated for up to 24 hours.

Ingredients: Polybutene, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Octyldodecanol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Tribehenin, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, BHT. May Also Contain: Red 7 Lake, Iron Oxides, Blue 1 Lake, Red 22, Yellow 5 Lake, Titanium Dioxide, Red 6, Yellow 5 Lake, Red 28 Lake, Blue 1 Lake

Dove Refresh + Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo  I am a dry shampoo junkie so I will take any and all samples of them!  I do wash my hair daily, but dry shampoos are a great way to texturize and bring fullness to my hair ~ which is straight and limp.  I don’t mind that my hair has a bit of a matte finish as I know that my natural oils in my oily hair will start breaking thru in a few hours!!  Anyway, this is from Dove and it is for volume and fullness!  It does have a perfume scent to it, so that is a bit of a turnoff for me ~ I like my hair products to smell more natural, but I understand the perfumed scents, as a dry shampoo is really for dirty hair.  Hair that hasn’t been washed and lots of odors can cling to your hair.  However, I am not a fan of the scent.  I will use this, but I won’t purchase the full size unless it does some miracles on my hair.  Travel Size 1.15 oz RV $1.00

Description: Instantly refreshes and cleans by absorbing excess oil. Lightweight formula nourishes without weighing hair down. Builds body and bounce in just a few sprays. Perfect for fine hair prone to feeling a little flat. Convenient way to revive hair between washes.  Spritz on whenever your locks need a refreshing volume boost Take yourself back to the feeling of freshly washed hair with Dove Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo. Perfect for days when you’re short of time, this weightless formula instantly absorbs oil, conveniently cleaning, reviving and volumizing hair in one.  Created especially for those with flat hair that can be oily, a little limp or weighed down between washes. Massaging a few sprays of this Dove dry shampoo into the roots is all it takes to take your hair from lifeless to bouncy in moments. So whenever your hair needs a boost, transform your look with a helping hand from Dove Style+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo for fresh, healthy-looking hair that’s brimming with body.

Ingredients: Isobutane, Propane, Sd Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Butane, Fragrance, Isopropyl Myristate, Silica, Cyclopentasiloxane

Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer in Fair/Medium I normally dislike self tanning products, but I make an exception for Jergens.  I love Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer ~ I use it in the spring and summer to add a light touch of color to my pasty white legs! It helps even out skin tone and cover up the veins (which we ALL have, there is no airbrushing in Real Life).  I am not a huge fan of wet moisturizers ~ you apply these while you are in the shower or right after you get out, with your skin very moist and wet.  I think that is a recipe for disaster with a self tanner moisturizer, as it will get streaky and uneven, right?  Maybe this will work because the formula is so sheer and buildable ~ I will find out ~ bare legs time is almost here!  Please note, this does not contain sunscreen. Travel Size  2 oz RV $2.32

Description: Specially developed for use on wet skin. When blended with water, Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer glides on to instantly lock in moisture and gradually build natural-looking color each day. Just apply on wet skin and pat dry for streak-free color. COLOR STAYS ON YOU, NOT ON YOUR TOWEL.

Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser Now we get into the stars of the box ~ these last two items were the real reason why I purchased this one.  I do love Skinfix products ~ their lip balm and hand cream are scentless and are very moisturizing.  I keep them in my car and desk at work.  This is an oil cleanser that foams!  This is also scentless and it comes out as a liquid pearlized oil.  I am really excited to give this a try ~ Target is bringing some great items in their boxes besides the same ol’ boring stuff!  This is a gentle formula that isn’t supposed to leave your skin tight or dry and it contains red seaweed extract, which helps bring moisture back into your skin, leaving it soft and smooth.  This is made with 97% natural ingredients, with no sulfates, synthetic fragrance, silicones, gluten, dairy, dyes, parabens or phthalates added.  It is also cruelty free and is good for all skin types, as it is gentle and non-irritating.  Dermatologist recommended, allergy tested and pH balanced.  Travel Size 1 oz RV $4.41

Description:  In a clinical study, 96% felt this cleanser left their skin feeling clean, soft and fresh. Winner of 2016 Parents Magazine “Mom Knows Best” award for “Best Face Wash”.  Beautiful skin starts with a healthy skin barrier. Cleansing with harsh chemicals can break down the skin barrier, leaving skin dull, damaged and dehydrated. Clinically proven and dermatologist recommended, Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser is made with natural coconut based cleansers that gently wash away dirt and make up, without stripping the skin’s essential moisture. This creamy foam uses high performance, natural ingredients to clean the skin without compromising its delicate barrier. Skinfix’s Healthy Skin Lipid Complex™ complements skin’s essential lipids leaving skin feeling hydrated, soft and supple. Red seaweed extract helps pulls moisture into the skin creating a plump and dewy appearance. Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser is the ultimate fix for healthy and beautiful skin.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence  This FTE is talked a lot about in the AB (Asian Beauty) Community and I have never used it before!  A FTE is a product that you add prior to your skincare products, after you cleansed your face.  It is made with fermented ingredients, such as yeast, and it will help boost additional skincare products that you put on your face, as well as giving your skin the benefits of fermented ingredients ~ which normally are brightening, anti-oxidant and moisturizing.  I find that fermented ingredients also help with clearing up blemishes too.  This is a very watery, clear and scentless product. Travel Size 1 0z RV $9.80

Description: The First Treatment Essence is a highly concentrated essential essence for the first step of your daily skincare routine. After washing your face, get an appropriate amount onto a cotton puff and wipe away following your skin texture until it is completely absorbed. The miracle essence containing 80% Fermented Yeast Extract (saccharomyces ferment filtrate), which absorbs into skin instantly, repairing and nourishing on cellular level and improves fine lines and skin tone while hydrating, restoring, and rejuvenating the skin to yield a glowing complexion.  Niacinamide, a Vitamin B3 component, improves skin elasticity, enhances skin barrier function, and revives skin tone and texture for an overall brighter and clearer tone. Recommended for all skin types.

Ingredients: Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate (80%), Bifida Ferment Lysate, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Polyquaternium-51, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Betaine, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Water,  Trehalose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Phenoxyethanol, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Cassia Alata Leaf Extract, , Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Raffinose, Tromethamine, Acetic Acid, Lactic Acid, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprytyl Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Sorbate, Hexapeptide-9  cosDNA analysis

Final Thoughts

This is a really good box!  I am excited about trying out the new cleanser from Skinfix and FTE from Missha, and I can always use more shampoo and conditioners!  The lip gloss color is really soft and pretty for spring (although horrible applicator) and I will give the Jergens product a try, even though I am skeptical about the non-streaking formula with wet skin.  The only meh item is the dry shampoo due to its heavy perfume scent.  The Missha alone is worth more than what I paid for this box!   I paid $7.00 + tax, but I used my Target Redcard, so I got 5% off (makes up for the tax) and I received a value of around $28.00, which is 4 times the purchase price.

Did you get this month’s Target Beauty Box? What were your favorite items?

  1. I tried the FTE and cleanser last night! I think the FTE is best used after a light toner and before thicker essences. My ph test for the cleanser showed ph of 6. I wonder if you get the same results? Also, I’m not so sure I’d skip my oil cleansing step with this cleanser. It’s pretty soapy.
