This is one of the rare reviews on a Klairs product that didn’t get a thumbs up for me. I loved their Klairs Mochi BB Cushion and I have reviewed a few of their products already and you can read my reviews here. Wishtrend sent me their brand new BB Cushion, called Whenever, to me for review purposes.
Skin Type/Concerns: oily, blemish prone, aging concerns, pores, fine lines/wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation
I received these products complementary to review and was not paid. All reviews are my own honest opinion and I never have been asked to write copy for a brand. This is actually a stunning looking compact ~ it is a dark navy that shimmers and shines in the light and looks almost black indoors. It has a nice sleek look to it and is very well made. Not too heavy and not too light, this compact can handle being dropped and kicked around. However, the finish does scratch easily, so if you want to keep that pristine finish, you will have to put it in a small pouch.
This has two puffs included ~a daily, dark blue puff, which is for daily use, provides a natural, sheer finish. The white puff is the “cover-up” version, which provides higher coverage and has a more velvet finish. This BB cushion is supposed to be buildable without having a cakey or heavy finish and can go from sheer to full coverage.
Cushion Whenever 4 UV blocking filters: titanium dioxide (UVA/UVB), zinc oxide (UVA/UVB), phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid (UVB) and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (UVA/UVB) and it has a SPF rating of 50+ PA+++. This contains nice ingredients like brightening niacinamide, moisturizing ceramide, hydrating glycerin and an amino acid complex to help to restore, soothe, strengthen and protect skin. This does contain beeswax, which means this isn’t vegan and without knowing how the beeswax is harvested, may not be cruelty free. Klairs does state it is cruelty free, so perhaps they are humane about how they harvest the honeycombs.

Now, I am appreciative that Klairs made more than one shade, unlike the Mochi Cushion. Alas, it is still pretty standard “white” shades ~ 21C Rosy, 21N Linen and 23W Ecru, so if you are a darker skinned toned person, this cushion will not work for you. As the Mochi Cushion shade was perfect for my skin type, it was recommended to me to try the 21N Linen, which is a nice neutral shade for light/medium skin types.

This doesn’t have much of a scent to it and the color matched fantastically on my skin. It blended out and I did use both puffs ~ I honestly didn’t see much of a difference with the puffs because the product itself had issues on my skin. Now matter how much I tried, I couldn’t get this BB cushion to play well on my face. It pilled and rolled off, settled in my pores and just hated my skin. I tried it with less skincare products, not applying sunscreen, applying on BARE skin, applying on skin that was slightly damp and also bone dry. No matter what I did, the finish was just not satisfactory for me ~ I would wipe it off and then reapply my skincare and use a different cushion.
I don’t know why this cushion didn’t work for me ~ I have oily skin but I read other reviews from people with oily skin that this worked with. Maybe because I have oily, dehydrated skin? Aging skin? At any rate, the Klairs Mochi BB Cushion is still the better one for me between these two and I am glad that Wishtrend still sells it!
Where to Purchase
Wishtrend doesn’t yet have refills for the Klairs Cushion Whenever and it only comes with one cushion
- Cushion Whenever 15 grams $37.00
If your skin tone is like mine ~ MAC NW 20 for reference, but leans more neutral, I recommend the Mochi BB Cushion by Klairs instead. It is $27.00 for a 15 grams and it is also vegan. Don’t forget to use my affiliate code, UNBOXINGWISHTREND, to get an additional 5% off your purchases.
Yay for honest reviews like yours!
