The other week, the lovely Jen at Beautibi sent me a few items from a new product line that they will be carrying at their site ~ Thank You Farmer.  Thank You Farmer is a brand from South Korea that specializes in skincare

Thank You Farmer’s promise is not about miracle, neither magic. Their honest promise is about being beautiful in slow, little and natural ways without giving any burden to your skin.

If you follow me on Instagram, I did review the facial sheet masks there last week!

Thank You Farmer True Water Deep Cotton Mask  I had planned to try the Thank You Farmer Repair mask first but it does have rose oil in it, so I will have to do a patch test first ~ the rose oil is mid-way thru a long list of ingredients, so better to err on the side caution! I decided instead, to use the True Water Deep Cotton Mask, which is a brightening, anti-wrinkle mask that is deeply hydrating. This is a nice cotton mask ~ not thin, but it is soft and plush, conforms to face nicely and excellent fit. The scent is citrusy in a perfume way, even though there aren’t any citrus ingredients in the mask. When I looked at TYF’s site, it looks like a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, limes and grapefruit is the signature scent of the True Water skincare line. The essence is clear, not thick but not runny either.

The key ingredients are aloe vera which powerful hydrating ingredient that doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy; portulaca oleracea, an anti-inflammatory, brightening and anti-aging ingredient which helps with reducing fine lines and wrinkles and peony extracts, another anti-inflammatory ingredient that is soothing and helps protect and brings radiance to your skin, because it contains a high amount of tannins. This also has some great moisturizing ingredients, raffinose, panthenol, ceramide and peptides. Due to the plushness of this mask, which holds a lot of essence, I was able to leave this mask on for about 45 minutes. There was no tacky residue left behind and there is a cooling sensation while I was wearing and when I removed it as well. I did a moisture/oil level test when my face dried (about 1 minute) and my skin analyzer had this at 57.5% moisture and 28.5% lipids, so it is not only hydrating, but also adding some good oils into my skin, without making my face greasy or oily. I really like this mask a lot despite the strong scent ~ plush fit, and great hydrating qualities are all a winner to me.

Description: A sheet mask rich in a deep-hydrating serum for intensive hydration for special occasions. Cools irritated skin and calmly soothes it. Leaves your skin smooth so the makeup does not cake.

Thank You Farmer Miracle Age Repair Cotton Mask This is 2nd of 2 masks types that Beautibi sent me for testing and review.   This is the Miracle Age Repair mask and it is a nourishing, brightening and anti-wrinkle mask. The mask is 100% plush soft cotton and is of medium weight and fits very well on my face. The essence has a perfumed floral scent, like wildflowers. The essence is also a milky essence ~ it is not clear and the mask holds a lot of it, so it is pretty wet. The first ingredient on the list isn’t even water, but saccharomyces ferment, which is fermented yeast and that plays a huge role in skin conditioning, hydration and helping give your skin a nice glow. It also contains niacinamide, licorice root and peony, which are all brighteners. I was struck by the abundance of oils in this mask ~ orange, lemon, lime, olive, black currant, rose (arrgh ~ but it is okay, no hives), anises, citronella, clove, sandalwood and so on! Lots of moisturizing and nourishing ingredients, including glycerin, ceramide, collagen and aloe vera. I am not even going to go down the full list, but the ingredients list will follow, so you can see how many botanicals are included in this mask. After 30 minutes, I removed the mask and my skin felt smooth and very moisturized (probably due to all of the oils). There was no tacky residue and my digital skin analyzer registered 25.1% oil and 55.8% water levels on my face. This is a very nice moisturizing mask and I am still touching my face (it is so smooth, like it filled in all of the nooks and crannies!! haha) as I write this!

Description: A sheet mask rich in nourishing serum for intensive nourishment for special occasions.. Recommended for severe dryness, roughness, and lack of moisture and sebum. Gives radiance to healthy skin that lacks vitality. Leaves your skin smooth so the makeup does not cake. Great to carry when you travel for intensive care on the plane or in a hotel room.

Thank You Farmer Water Sun Cream  SPF50+ PA +++  If you had told me a couple of years ago that I would be loving sunscreens, I would have said you were crazy.  Yep, I am fanatical about them now, as I am seeing the damage that has been done to my face because I neglected to wear my sunscreen when I was a yute.

I’ve mentioned this before when I have reviewed sunscreens, but I do think this is handy information to know.  We all know what SPF rating means, but what does PA stand for?   I am very familiar with SPF (sun protection factor) and that it ranks based on protection from UVB :: ultraviolet B (shortwave) rays.  But the PA rating is something newish to me, and I really notice it on Asian sunscreens, not so much American brands.    PA is the amount of protection the sunscreen offers from UVA :: ultraviolet A (long-wave) rays.   PA ranks with + signs and the higher the + signs, the more protection you will get from UVA rays.

UVB is what causes sunburns and reddened skin and has direct links to cancer.  UVA is what causes us to tan, and age ~ wrinkles and deep lines are caused by UVA exposure.  A really fantastic article about ultraviolet rays and how they affect our skin can be found here at the Skin Cancer website  and I highly recommend reading it.   One thing I have learned is that a broad spectrum sunscreen is the proper choice as it will help deflect the UV rays and not allow them to penetrate into your skin layers.

Okay, so lets move on to the sunscreen by Thank You Farmer.   This tube has an easy applicator, just squeeze and out comes a medium weight sunscreen, that smells more like a perfume than fresh apricots ~ it does have the scent of apricots, but it is like a perfumed apricot.  Does that make sense?

It is very slick and smooth and it does hydrate and moisturize my skin without leaving any white cast.    The finish is dewy, so if you have oily skin like me, this is going to cause more of a sheen on your face than you might like.  It is not sticky, however and it does absorb quickly.   I love that it is SPF 50 PA+++ and I think this one will be great for when I am all outdoorsy ~ whether I am at the beach or hiking, biking or just outside.  I am not sure I will use this for my normal, daily, work-face as it does leave my face dewy and I do prefer a more matte skin than shiny.  It is a personal preference, however.  This sunscreen is really nice and I haven’t experienced any rashes or blemishes from using it. It is rich and moisturizing,  but there isn’t any major acne triggers ~ just two ingredients and it is very low on cosDNA.com

Notable Notes on Ingredients

  • Aloe Barbadensis ~ one of its many uses is to attract and keep moisture and is also an anti-inflammatory. Aloe Vera is a powerful moisturizer that doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy.
  • Phyto-Oligo is a patented ingredient and it not only hydrates and moisturizes, it acts an anti-inflammatory.
  • Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil is a lightweight oil that has a high concentration of Vitamin E, which is a powerful anti-oxidant and may also help protect the skin from UV rays.  It is known for its hydrating and moisturizing properties and it contains omaga-6 fatty acids.
  • Bambusa Vulgaris (bamboo) Water  Bamboo contains silica and by stimulating certain cells, it helps strengthen your collagen and elastin, which in turn will help firm and tone your skin and plump up your skin, so fine lines and wrinkles are not as noticeable. Bamboo also is a very soothing ingredient that is good for sensitive skin, as it is an anti-irritant, retains moisture and helps combat free radicals as it does contain anti-oxidant proprieties as well.

This sunscreen is currently for sale at Beautibi for $21.00 for 50 mL (click here)

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Shimmer Sun Essence SPF30 PA ++    OHHH, I love this one!  This essence is a brightening (whitening) and anti-wrinkle formula.  This is more lightweight and despite the “shimmer” in the name, it is so subtle.   It is perfect for highlighting and where ever you just want a bit of shine, without looking oily!  This is a lightweight sunscreen, which is why it is called an essence ~ I have found that products described as essence are much more lightweight in texture and more watery.   The tube nozzle is more pointed than the Water Sun Cream, so you can just directly squeeze a nice thin line on your cheekbones.

I couldn’t really get a good shot with this, but the cream is actually a pale pink with a pearl cast and when I apply it to my skin, the sheen is there, but barely noticeable.  It is very natural and I love it, as it really makes my skin look brighter and more radiant with that glow!  The scent is supposed to be the same as the Water Cream, but I found this one to be more natural in its fruity scent and not as perfume-y.   Even though this is a shimmer product, there is no stickiness or tacky feeling and since this is lightweight, it also doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy.   Great product for those with oily skin.

Noteable Notes on Ingredients

  • Plukenetia Volubilis (sacha inchi) seed oil is a powerful antioxidant and it contains vitamins A and E, which help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars.   It contains 85% of linoleic acid, which contains omaga-6 and omaga-3 fatty oils.  This is higher than coconut, avocado and grapeseed oils and this helps with preventing blemishes.    Due to its omaga-3 fatty acid, it also helps protect against radiation from UV light.
  • Nelumbo Nucifera (lotus)  extracts are full of antioxidants, flavonoids, vitamins, fatty acids and proteins.  It helps purify your skin, acting as an astringent while conditioning and moisturizing your skin.  It helps soothe your skin, as it is an anti-inflammatory and will help reduce redness and swelling.  Lotus also has natural AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) and will help exfoliate dead skin cells quicker to reveal newer skin
  • Althaea Rosea (hollyhock) is a skin conditioning agent and it an emollient and antibacterial properties.
  • Ethylhexyl Salicylate is an ester of salicylate acid and used in sunscreens.  It helps absorb UV light and helps protect your skin.
  • Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is a powerful antioxidant that acts as an anti-inflammatory, improves your skin elasticity, enhance the skin barrier function and also it helps to even out skin tone and reduce post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

Beautibi is currently selling this deluxe 15 mL size for $12.00 at their online shop (click here)

BONUS Review!

I also received a Purple Tale mask to try out a few weeks ago ~ this is a 5 step mask and usually, I have tried 2 or 3 step masks so this is the first one that I have used that has 5 steps: foam cleanser, ampoule, sheet mask, face cream and neck cream.  I’ve saving this mask as I wanted to hoard it, but it is time to try it out!

Purple Tale 5 Steps to Lovely Skin  This mask will states it will leave my skin nourished, firm and provide deep hydration.  It uses RGII, an ingredient that is extracted from fermented ginseng saponin (ginsenosides) and complex peptides  ~  Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 ~ which help boost your collagen production and will aid in leaving my skin feeling toned and brighter.   I did do a step by step initial impressions below, but overall, I think this is a fun mask!  I actually would think these would be great to take with you on a business trip  or vacation ~ just to unwind at the end of the day in your hotel room, camping (hahaha, got to pamper your face in the great outdoors!) or even when you stay over with friends or family ~ a little mini-spa.  Bring extras to share ~ it is a total night care package.  RV $8.00

Notable Notes on Ingredients

  • Centella Asiatica is a common herbal ingredient that is used medicinally to help speed up wound healing, such as blemishes and skin rashes.  It also helps minimize the appearance of pores, and since it stimulates collagen production, it will make your skin more supple and firm.
  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 ~ all peptides!  Peptides are made of amino acids and based on the name, that is how many amino acids it contains ~ hexapeptide = 8.  tripeptide = 3.  pentapeptide =5.   Peptides send signals to your skin to help repair and produce new collagen and by applying them to your skin, it sends those signals to create more.  Collagen helps make your skin firm and elastic.
  • Ginsenosides are compounds from ginseng and act as an anti-inflammatory and stimulate collagen production, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Step 1: Cleanse with foam cleanser. Lather foam cleanser in hands and wash face and neck. Rinse and gently pat dry.

This has a fresh scent to it ~ foams up nicely.  pH level is a 10.  Very high for those who are interested  in pH levels.

Foam Cleanser Ingredients: Water, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Myristic Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Glycol Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Polysorbate 20, Alcohol Denat., Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Step 2: Treat with anti-wrinkle ampoule. Apply a thin layer to face and neck and wait for the product to sink in.

This is a serum ~ the scent is a bit strong and medicinal.  I placed this all over my face and waited for it to dry before apply the mask.  I put the photo of Step 2 with Step 4, as there wasn’t much to it!

Ampoule Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyglutamic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Allantoin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Step 3: Pamper with cellulose sheet mask. Peel away protective film on one side, place the mask on face and then peel away the other protective film. Leave on face for at least 20 minutes. Remove when ready.

Oy! This is a two piece bio hydrogel.  Of course the lower half will slide off my face ~ ha!  This has a fresh scent to it and it was pretty easy to put on and adjust to my face.  The essence is amazing ~ it is so thick and gel like ~ tons of it in the packet ~ I put it on the mask, my neck, my arms and hands!  I like the essence better than the ampoule 😀  After 25 minutes, I removed this mask and my face is smooth, hydrated and my pores didn’t look huge ~ I find hydrogels tend to do that more often than not with my skin type ~ so I am happy about that!

Bio-cellulous Sheet Mask Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Allantoin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Dimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dipropylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Betaine, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Glyceryl/Polyglyceryl-6 Isostearate/Behenate Esters, Panthenol, Potassium Hydroxide, Alcohol Denat., Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Ginsenosides, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance    cosDNA.com analysis

Step 4: Moisturize with anti-wrinkle and whitening facial cream.  Dab facial cream on face and apply evenly.

This is very rich cream ~ it has the same scent as the ampoule, but that scent disappears quickly.  This would only be a night cream for me, as I can really feel how moisturizing this is.

Ode to Hydration Facial Cream Ingredients:  Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Stearic Acid, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polysorbate 60, Dimethicone, Sorbitan Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Isohexadecane, Polysorbate 80, Betaine, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Alcohol Denat., Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Ginsenosides, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Step 5: Nourish neck with anti-wrinkle neck cream. Massage neck cream onto neck with an upward motion.

This is somewhat similar to the facial cream in texture, but it is not as thick or rich.  I think I would like this as the face cream instead!

Once Upon a Neck Cream Ingredients: Water, Panthenol, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Isohexadecane, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Phytosqualane, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Beeswax, Beta-Glucan, Arginine, Carbomer, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Alcohol Denat., Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis
