Unboxing Beauty

I received my MaskGenie pouch for March the other day and I am very impressed with the selection this month!  I was a bit unhappy with the value in February, as I felt that it needed one more mask.  I think it is also psychological ~ since shipping is included with the price, we think “free shipping”, but in fact, it isn’t free. MaskGenie is a small, indie service and she doesn’t get price discounts for shipping.  I need to also stop thinking that way too!  I think it was just a shock to go from 10 masks to 8 masks with a higher price tag all at once.   This unboxing was difficult to do as several of the items I could not find any ingredient list ~ not even in Chinese or Korean (at least I can do a translation if I have that much)  I apologize that some of these I couldn’t find the list of ingredients.

MaskGenie is a monthly subscription of masks ~ facial sheet mask, body masks, wash off masks and hair masks.  The owner lives in Hong Kong and she (Genie) tries out the masks and determines which ones she feels are worthy for her customers to try.   Shipping is extremely fast ~ within a week, I get my pouch.  You can order the 8-10 mask pouch for $23.99 and that includes shipping and she just doesn’t ship to the USA ~ MaskGenie ships all over the world.  The 5 pouch mask set is being discontinued starting January 2016, as there wasn’t a lot of subscribers to that and the 10 pouch is now 8 to 10 masks, as Genie wants to be able to add in higher end (more expensive) masks to the pouch ~ the value will still be there, however, it is just that some masks will be more expensive.  Genie tries to do her pouch reveal on Youtube and this month she did both February and March together ~ you can watch it here.

Milatte Egg Peel-Off Mascream (Korea)   This is a peel off mask made with eggs and soy beans (I am getting hungry now for scrambled eggs..haha) Milatte Fashiony creates these in other egg designs and I received the egg in white and green.   I couldn’t find an ingredient list anywhere, but the key ingredients are hyaluronic acid, argan oil, peony extract, soy beans, yeast ferment and egg shell membrane.  They mention ephippium in the description, but I don’t think they used the correct term, as ephippium looks to be the eggs of a microcrustacean.  Unless they are using microcrustacean eggs here!    8 grams RV $3.00

Tsaio Deep Whitening Mask (Taiwan)  Ohh, I love a brightening mask ~ this contains apple polyphenol, which is a vitamin-rich, anti-aging ingredient that contains antioxidants, promote cell health, moisturizes and helps heal sun-damaged skin and L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), which is, of course,  an antioxidant that is essential for tissue growth, repair and collagen production. Beauty Idea Diary Pearl Caviar Anti-Aging Activating Mask (Taiwan)   I received eye gels from  Beauty Idea Diary the other month and now a facial sheet mask!  This contains salmon egg (roe) which is excellent for moisturizing and is also an anti-aging ingredient.   This also contains honey, wild yam, collagen and wheat protein, all excellent anti-aging and firming moisturizers.  RV $2.25

• Collagen ~ Deeply moisturizes the skin.

• Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein ~ helps retain water and moisture in your skin and helps minimize wrinkles and fine lines and has anti-aging properties. 

• Dioscorea Villosa (Wild Yam)  This extract is found in many anti-aging firming skincare products.   Wild yam is supposed to have a property similar to progesterone, called diosgenin and it also has estrogen properties. These hormones are very helpful, especially for women who are entering menopause, either peri, pre or post stages. There has been a study (source) that stated that wild yam can help restore the skin barrier in your epidermis, by encouraging the production of keratinocyte cells~ the main cells in our outer layer of skin. Sewame Spotless and Trace-Free Anti-Acne Tea Tree Mask  (Hong Kong ???)   I looked and I looked and I looked for an ingredients list on this mask.  All I got was just the key ingredients.  Is it too much to ask online shops to POST the damn ingredient list?  Oy   The key ingredients in this mask are mangosteen, asparagus (not aloe vera, despite the photo shown below), rosehip oil, bitter gourd/melon/balsam pear.  the reason why I don’t know where it is made is that the mask label doesn’t show me, and I could only find that Sewame originated in Paris, France.  It seems to be popular in Hong Kong.   This mask is reported to help with dark pigmentation and is an anti-blemish mask as well.   I did find that the essence in this line got rave reviews for dark hyper-pigmentation spots, so I might have to check out the essence!  RV $2.15

Holika Holika Juicy Mask Sheet Mango (Korea) I have used Holika Holika Juicy masks before and I do like them!   I think it is the fruity smell and since I love mangoes, this is fine by me 🙂  This mask is supposed to make your skin radiant, as it is a revitalizing mask.   This does have alcohol in it, so if you are sensitive to that ingredient, you might wish to skip over this mask.  RV $2.20  You can purchase this mask at Beauteque.com ~ save 10% by using promo code MICHELE10

Rainbow Vita-Brightening Intensive Care 3-Step Mask Set (Korea)  This is the second 3 part mask and it is a bit different from the Goat’s Milk one as instead of a pre-ampoule step, it has a cleansing step!  This mask is a brightening one and although the mask’s ingredients were printed on the package, the cleanser and night cream were not.  Sorry!!  The mask is free from paraben, mineral oils, silicon and artificial coloring.  RV $2.50

I am so happy with both the selection and value of the bag this month!!  I think having 2 masks that are 3 step masks really made this pouch very special and I cannot wait to try them out.  I am also pleased with the inclusion of MBD, Tsaio and Sewame masks as well as well as some lesser known brands such as About Me and Beauty Idea Diary.  I paid $23.99  for this pouch, which included shipping, and received a retail value of around $19.44.
