Peaches & Petals is a subscription service that is focused on lifestyle and beauty products.  From their website  “Experience our world of fun, flirty and fashionable vintage-modern lifestyle in a hand-curated box delivered to you each month. ”  Peaches & Petals has once again sent me their monthly box to review and I thank them for their generosity 🙂

The February 2016 theme is “How Sweet It Is”

Love Themed Throw Pillow Cover
This was the spoiler for this month’s box and the design is randomly selected.  I received a Piccocasa  square pillow cover in a beige woven linen, with a printed black heart and XOXO in gold letters.  The pillow cover has a hidden zipper.  This is a really nice pillow cover and I love that the colors are neutral, as it lends a more sophisticated air to it.  It measures about 18″ by 18″.  RV $8.00

Bonne Bell Girl Scouts Lip Smacker in Coconut Caramel Stripes  Samoas!!  Or at least that is what my favorite Girl Scout cookie used to be called before they renamed it to Coconut Carmel deLites ~ actually, you still can get both as it is regional and depending on the bakery, you will either get the deLites or Samoas.  I always love a good  lip balm and having one in a coconut, caramel chocolate flavor is pretty great.   This item was also randomly selected from either a lip balm or gloss.   These are no longer made, as Bonne Bell has stopped producing items last year.   RV  $5.00

Slightly Melted Shower Mochi I received two of these shower sugar scrubs ~ Orange Creamsicile Sugar Scrub with Ground Oats and Cotton Candy Sugar Scrub.  Slightly Melted is an etsy shop (yeah!!) and they hand craft their body products ~  sugar and salt scrubs, body balms and soap.   These scrubs cleanse while exfoliating and moisturize your skin.   Orange Creamsicile smells like oranges, as it does contain orange oil and also has oat flour to help soothe and exfoliate your skin.  Cotton Candy is a lovely blue scrub that has that sweet scent of cotton candy.  Really nice bath products and I am impressed that Peaches & Petals included an etsy shop ~ I am a huge fan of supporting artisan businesses and encourage sub boxes to look towards etsy for inspiration.   Peaches & Petals has a promo code to use at Slightly Melted’s shop ~ use sweetpeaches25 to save 25%.  RV $4.00

Description: A Shower Mochi is a bar of sugar scrub paste, or dough, similar in it’s sticky texture to the Japanese rice cake which is also called mochi. Our mochi is made very differently of course. We use finely ground rice and course sugar for exfoliation. Gentle cleansers for getting you clean. Cocoa butter and coconut oil to lightly moisturize your skin without leaving you standing in a puddle of oil or making your tub floor into a slippery mess

Orange Creamsicile Sugar Scrub with Ground Oats Ingredients: organic sugar, sugar, soap (coconut oil, palm oil, safflower oil, glycerin (kosher/vegetable origin), water, sodium hydroxide (saponifying agent), sorbitol (moisturizer), sorbitan oleate (emulsifier), oat protein (conditioner), wheat protein (conditioner)), cocoa buter, coconut oil, glycerin, cocoamide MEA, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA), sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, glyceral stearate, PEG-100 stearate,  avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, oryza sativa (rice) flour, sorbitol, cetyl alcohol, fragrance, citrus nobilis (mandarin orange) peel oil,  propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, orange 5, yellow 5, yellow 10, titanium dioxide, mica

Love Birds Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shaker Set   Very sweet and dainty!  Mini white salt & pepper shakers in the shape of love birds, nicely gift boxed with a red ribbon.  These would be perfect for a breakfast in bed occasion!  RV $7.65

Sweet Spun Sugar Signature Soy Candle  This is fantastic!  I love candles (I even subscribe to a candle box!) and this one is 500% better than the candle that was in the November box.  This one actually has a scent, and it is a lovely sweet cream and vanilla  scent.  The candle is made from soy wax, which burns cleaner and clearer and is in a delicate pink shade, housed in a glass jar with a silvertone lid.  This is a simple yet pretty candle, with a fantastic scent.   This has a burn time of 20 hours.  4 oz RV $5.00

Whoopie Pie Cookbook by Parragon Books (2011 edition)  There was a surprise item in the box and I received a Whoopie Pie cookbook ~ I never grew up with whoopie pies, as I am originally from the Midwest, and these are more a Northeast/Amish treat, but they are now sold all around the USA and the globe!   These  are cookies made with 2 round slices of cake (like gingerbread, chocolate) and then have  a creamy filling between them.  A chewy, bigger version of an Oreo cookie, I suppose.  This has tons of recipes in it, from cookies filled with interesting fillings including ice cream and birthday Whoopie Pie cakes.   Personally, I would have loved to have an actual whoopie pie to eat, but this will do!   Depending on where you purchase this book, the RV can be $5.00 to $12.00

Description: Whoopie pies are a classic American-style baked treat that are sure to be a hit at any gathering. These delicious cake sandwiches with creamy fillings are surprisingly easy to make. Featuring flavors for every taste and occasion, this delectable pocket guide shows you how to make recipes ranging from classic chocolate whoopie pies to gourmet flavors. This colorful book is packed full of easy step-by-step instructions and photos and makes an ideal gift for your favorite baker!

Peaches & Petals monthly subscription boxes are $19.99 a month (new price change starting January 15th) and that includes shipping.   However, if you already subscribe to Peaches and Petals, you are locked into the $14.99 rate until March 15th.   This is still one of the lower priced lifestyle boxes out there.   January’s box looks to be of  a retail value of almost $35.00 ~ $42.00 (depending on the cookbook value).

I actually think this is one of my favorite Peaches & Petals box that I have received.  All around, I will use every item, except the salt & pepper shakers, as I am thinking that my mom will really love these!  She loves birds and these would look nice on her kitchen windowsill.   I really am thrilled that P&P has included an etsy vendor and I hope they will continue to do so in the future.  The pillow cover is really nice and I like its neutral shades, as it works with everything.   The candle is fantastic ~ I love the scent and I look forward to trying my hand at some whoopie pies!  I actually love cookbooks, so I don’t mind getting them.  Sometimes, I just like looking at the pictures of food! haha   I think that Peaches & Petals are focusing more on the lifestyle part of their box and I think that is a great direction for them to go forward with.  Many thanks to Miranda for sending me this box to review.

Did you receive this month’s Peaches & Petals box?  What was your favorite item and what do you think of it?

Next month’s theme is “Live Life in Color” and this time, there is no spoiler!   If you are interested in subscribing, use promo code PEACHFIND and get 50% off your first box with Peaches and Petals.    This code is only valid on the monthly subscription option and will not work on a 3, 6 or 12 month option.
