It seems I have a lot of cleanser products that I want to review for you! You might get a few of them over the course of the next few weeks 🙂 Today, I am going to talk about double cleansing with some Memebox branded products, Nooni Snowflake Cleanser and I’m Dual Pore Brush. I am a Memebox Ambassador and they kindly sent these products to me for review.
What is Double Cleansing? Double Cleansing is a method where you first use an oil cleanser to remove all of your makeup and dirt. Don’t be afraid of oil! I have oily skin and I use an oil cleanser daily to remove my stubborn and long wearing makeup. You apply the oil cleanser to your dry face and massage it in gently and it will loosen up and remove surface makeup, dirt, bacteria and debris on your face. Then rinse off with warm water and prepare to do the 2nd step in double cleansing ~ a foam based cleanser. Using a foam cleanser ensures that all of the oil residue that could be left on your face is removed and it also deep cleans into your pores and depending on the type of foaming cleanser you use, it can contain ingredients to help exfoliate dead skin cells as well. The result is a fresh, clean face that is ready for your skin care products!
Nooni Snowflake Cleanser I use Banila Clean It Zero Cleansing balm and this product is in the same category. It is an emulsifying cleansing balm, with a ‘sherbet’ solid texture in the container that turns to a cleansing oil as you massage it into your skin. This white balm really don’t have a noticeable scent that I can detect and it does crumble more than Clean It Zero, which I guess is due to the “oxygen” as this product. Perhaps the infusion of oxygen gives it this weird texture. Yes, it has mineral oil as its first ingredient. As I stated long ago in my Banila Clean It Zero review, that isn’t bad for you:
Actually mineral is not bad for your skin, as it is a noncomedogenic ~ its molecules are too big to enter into your pores. It also has great hydrating properties for your skin as well.
Jeju Island has a lot of great natural resources and lately, it seems that even the water is a hot commodity! This is made with Jeju spring water, which is mineral rich and will help the elasticity of your skin while you cleanse. It also contains shea butter to moisturize along with citrus peel and lotus flower extracts.
To use, you just scoop out an appropriate amount of the sherbet textured balm and then start massaging it into your skin. I avoiding getting this into my eyes ~ I personally use an eye makeup remover for that. As you massage it in, it will turn into a clear oil, picking up all of the dirt, makeup and gunk from the day. Lastly, I like to then wet my hands and then massage further, turning the oil into a milky product, which will lift the oil and dirt away from skin. Rinse well with warm water and then I will follow up with a foam cleanser.

How does this work? As you can tell from the photos below, it does work fairly well in removing makeup. I used the following products on my hand: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes, Clinique High Impact Mascara, Innisfree Jeju Color Picker Glow Liquid Eyeshadow, Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner, Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint
It didn’t remove all of the stubborn makeup, but then again, I really swatched hard on my hand. This is acceptable as I will follow up with a cleansing foam. My skin doesn’t feel that oily, either, after I rinse this off, unlike some organic cleansing balms I have tried. This is a nice, less expensive alternative to Banila Clean It Zero 120 g $13.00

I’m Dual Pore Brush This is actually a cool product, as one side has a soft white microfiber brush, made up of 550,000 bristles, and the flip side has a gentle silicone bristles pad. I actually use the soft brush all over my face, as it is very soft and helps any cleanser foam up nicely. I use the silicone side around my nose and chin area, to really help clean out my pores and remove any dry skin.
This brush has a nice handle on it ~ many pore brushes have no handles or very small ones, and this is long enough that my fingers do not come in contact with the brush head. It will also stay upright if you do decide to sit it on the side of your bathroom sink and won’t fall over. My only complaint about the brush is that it should have had a hole and string loop at the end of the handle, so it could hang upside down in the shower to dry. The height of this brush is 13 centimeters or about 5.12 inches
How does it perform? Continuing on with my hand test from Nooni Snowflake Cleanser test, I used Recipe by Nature Slowganic Lemon Cleanser ~ this is a fabulous foam cleanser, low in pH (5 to 5.5) and they come in three different types ~ Lemon is for brightening, Green Tea is for oily skin and Alday is for dry skin. (Corrected as I misspoke here. I use lemon all the time and I have oily skin, so I confused the two!) Make sure you use the correct version if your skin is sensitive, otherwise it may not work properly ~ for example, if your skin is combo or dry, you shouldn’t use green tea, as it could dry out your skin. You can read my full review on Recipe by Nature Slowganic Lemon Cleanser here.
I first added some cleanser on my hand, dampened the white microfiber bristle side and started to use the brush against my skin, in a circular motion. You can see it is foaming up nicely. I applied a little pressure and continued this for about 1 minute. Then I flipped it over to the pink silicone side and then using the same circular motion, really worked on removing some of the more stubborn makeup off my skin, while creating a very dense foam at this time.
As you can see, it removed every bit of makeup that remained on my hand! Very nice and I didn’t have to apply any hard pressure to do so. This pore brush is very handy and I like it a lot! The fact that I can have both types of brushes in one tool makes me very happy and I can really step up in my cleansing routine! RV $9.00

[ Nooni Snowflake Cleanser and I’m Dual Pore Brush received complementary for review purposes ]
I tried both the pore brush and oil cleanser and enjoyed them. I really loved that brush though especially for using the cosrx low pH cleanser. It doesn’t foam much on its own so the brush is a nice way to get that visual representation that your skin is getting clean. Your review actually makes me want to try that Recipe Lemon cleanser now lol

Quick question actually your review here said the Lemon Recipe cleanser was for oily skin but your previous review of it says its for brightening dull skin and that the green tea cleanser is for oily skin? Which one is which? I’m gravitating toward the lemon because it just sounds better but i have oily combination skin

oh sorry, I misspoke in here – lemon is for uneven and for brightening! I will correct that, I am so sorry! I have it because of hyperpigmentation issues and it works well for me because I have oily skin and never had issues with it..
my original review is correct – green tea is for oily skin 😀
