Unboxing SudsyBox December 2014!

I love soaps ~ and handcrafted ones at that. I happen to hoard my artisan crafted soaps because they are so pretty and unique.  But they should be used ~ they are functional too!  I stumbled across this subscription when I was just google’ing around for Christmas gifts and decided, after reading a few reviews, that this subscription might just cure me of my hoarding soap problem and that I will actually use and enjoy my artisan crafted soaps 🙂

What is Sudsy Box?

Sudsy Box is a bi-monthly subscription at $20.00 every other month that Heidi’s Artisan Soap business offers.  So all of your products will be handcrafted by Heidi’s Artisan soaps.

From SudsyBox’s website:

You will get your Sudsy Box every other month. We deliver 6 times a year and schedule our deliveries to arrive before most of the major holiday seasons. Each Sudsy Box shipment is themed for that particular season. The cutoff to sign up for a box is the 15th of the month that Sudsy Box ships and we typically ship the 15th – 20th of that month.

  1. FEBRUARY – Just in time for your favorite Valentine! It could be a significant other or maybe you want to pamper yourself on this special day.
  2. APRIL – Who doesn’t love Spring and Easter! Get fresh scented soaps and something special because you survived the long, cold winter.
  3. JUNE – Ahhhh. The start of summer. Feel the warm breeze and the summer sun with some of our fun and unique soaps.
  4. AUGUST – The wrap up of summer vacations. Getting ready to go back to school. A great time to stock up on the necessities with a Sudsy Box!
  5. OCTOBER – Fall is our favorite season at Sudsy Box and you won’t be disappointed with some of the great smells and looks of our fall collection.
  6. DECEMBER – Christmas and family traditions! Peppermint candy canes, pine trees, crackling fireplaces and hot chocolate! Need we say more??

Each delivery of Sudsy Box will have 3 full sized soap bars (these are 4 ounces, not some wimpy hotel sized sliver!)  and one sample of a lip balm, lotion bar, sea salt scrub, body butter, etc. The soaps will vary each time and will be themed to the season of the shipment. The samples will vary each box and we will try to highlight each one of Heidi’s Artisan Soap product lines throughout the year.

The soaps that are in Sudsy Box are handcrafted in small batches. (Each batch makes only 18 bars of soap) This small batch artisan approach is created with the highest quality, all natural ingredients that produce a luxurious, moisturizing bar of soap and leaves your skin feeling soft, silky and hydrated. These soaps are naturally rich in Shea and Coca butters, Olive Oil and Coconut oil and have the added benefit of essential oils like Lavender, Rosemary, Peppermint, Orange, Lemongrass and more!  Our soaps are always 100% NATURAL… Gluten Free – Vegetarian

Need I say more???    I am sold!!  I put in my order and here is the December box!  Since this is a brand new sub for me, I like to show a couple of pictures of how the item was packaged.  This came priority mail, and in a sturdy cardboard box.  When I opened the box, my items were encased in paper crinkles and the packaging was very nice with the tissue covering and the SB logo.

Informational Card

I didn’t open up all of the soaps, because one body, one bar of soap at a time, but I did look up the 2 that I didn’t open to let you know the color of the soap.  I have linked all of the soaps back to Heidi’s Artisan Soaps website.  The tissue wrapping on the soaps is hand wrapped.  The paper label on the soap is reusable ~ handmade Lokta Paper from Nepal which has wild flower seeds embedded in them.  You can plant the paper in some soil, keep it moist and you will have wildflowers blooming in no time!  I’ve seen this concept before and I really like it.  I will save my papers for the spring time

Balsam Fir   I can really smell the cedar and balsam in this soap, even through the wrappings!  This smells so nice and woodsy and is a great unisex scent.   I happen to love woodsy scents, so this is right up my scent-alley!   Based on the photos on Heidi’s site, this is a medium green colored soap.  4 oz Value $6.00

Product Description: Take a stroll through the Great North Woods with this one! A Shea Butter soap that is scented with Balsam Fir and Cedarwood. Fresh, Woodsy, Clean scent. Naturally colored with Chlorella Powder (a super food algae).

Ingredients: Saponified (olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil), fir/cedarwood essential oil blend, chlorella powder

Honey Almond Oatmeal  I did open this soap up to view it.   This is so cute!  It has oats on the top side of the soap 🙂  This is a creamy honey colored soap and it does smell lightly of honey-almond and has oats, sweet almond oil and honey ingredients.   Not overpowering at all.   This one is getting used starting today 🙂   It suds up nicely, very creamy in its texture.  4 oz Value $6.00

Product Description: Honey Almond Oatmeal is a classic soap creation and it is so wonderful for your skin. Finely ground organic colloidal oats soothe your skin and the honey helps seal in moisture. Sweet Almond Oil is packed with healthy Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids. This is a gentle moisturizing soap that has a great lather and is perfect for your body and face!

Ingredients: Saponified (olive oil, sweet almond oil coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil), colloidal oats, honey

Rosemary Peppermint  This is my favorite as I am so partial to rosemary and mint.  The primary scent is rosemary, which is rare as mint usually overpowers rosemary scents.  The mint scent is there, but the first scent I smell is rosemary.   I am excited to try this one out and it will be the next soap after the honey oatmeal one.   When I looked at Heidi’s site, this is a creamy colored soap with flecks of green tea leaves through-out the bar, which act as an exfoliator.   Cool!  4 oz Value $6.00

Product Description: Enjoy the smell of Rosemary with the uplifting scent of Peppermint. Plus the added benefit of fresh Green Tea Leaves known for their anti-oxidants.  This bar has a light exfoliant texture and is made with green tea leaves.  The uplifting scent is great for day or night.  Even though is does have a slight exfoliant texture, this bar is also very sudsy and creamy.  It has a very organic smell with equal notes of Rosemary and Peppermint.

Ingredients: Saponified (olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil), rosemary/peppermint essential oil blend, green tea leaves

Peppermint Glossy Lip Balm  This is a nice, hydrating lip balm made with coconut oil, cocoa butter and beeswax.  As lip balm Queen here, of course I had to open it up right away and apply it to my lips.  The peppermint tingle is subtle and sneaks up on you.  It does leave my lips feeling moist and with a slight sheen.  Full Size .15 oz Value $3.00

Product Description: Finally, a glossy lip balm that conditions, hydrates and moisturizes your lips! Great way to keep your lips moisturized and soft during those sunny days outside. All Natural with no added chemicals or hardeners.

Ingredients:  Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Peppermint Essential Oil

Four full sized, hand crafted items!  I paid $20.00 for my subscription and received a value of $21.00.  Now, that may not be a “value” to some, but this also includes priority mail shipping as well.  I also view it this way ~ I love hand crafted soaps.  I really like to support made in America small business owners.  What I also like about this box is that all of the scents in this month’s collection can be used by women and men, as they are very gender-neutral scents.  Finally, this box gave me great pleasure to open it and sniff the soaps and try on the lip balm.    This is not a box where you will get commercially found items, but one that was obviously curated with care and each soap is hand made and hand wrapped, as I discovered when I was taking off the tissue on the Oatmeal soap.   This box is worth the $20.00 to me and I will use these soaps and in the future, have some nice soaps to give as gifts too!   I am really happy with this box and cannot wait to see what February will bring 🙂  I hope this soap will be in that box ~Soleseife Spa Bar
