AMUSE Dew Tint in Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa

Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa 화양연화 means “In The Mood For Love” and there is also a BTS intro song called this, but they translated it to “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life”. I think it makes more sense in the former translation, and there is another song by Hong Ja that has it as “In The Mood For Love”.

Seriously, there was no translation for this lip shade, so I had to dig around and find out what it meant!!  I am really digging the Amuse brand ~ I have tried a few other products from them (review here) and it was actually these dew lip tints that drew me in. Jolse  Cosmetic, a premier K-Beauty online store,  sent me this lip tint for review purposes.

I received these products complementary to review and was not paid.  All reviews are my own honest opinion and  I never have been asked to write copy for a brand.  This blog post might contain promo codes, affiliate and referral links, which using my links will help generate a small commission that helps support my blog at no extra cost to you.

Amuse Dew Tints are a 35% water-infused, vegan emulsified lip tint that is long lasting and are not sticky. It features several ingredients of note, which will keep your lips moisturized and nourished.  Full of antioxidant carotenoids, such as beta carotene, vitamin C and E, avocado oil has oleic acid which helps create a moisture barrier on your skin, leaving your lips soft and moisturized while repairing your lips.  Mango butter forms a protective layer that helps moisturize and soften your skin, while glycerin hydrates, leaving lips smooth and soft.

Apples are vitamin rich and is a natural source of AHA, so that your lips will be gently exfoliated, removing chapped dried dead skin cells, reveling new, fresh skin which is smooth and undamaged.  Natural emollient, antioxidant squalane removes dryness and attracts moisture, locking in hydration.  .

Silica strengthens the the cells in our skin, between the  collagen and elastin fibers, so this will help plump up your lips, reducing any wrinkles and giving your lips a nice pout.  Glycoside stevioside comes from stevia and it isn’t just a sweetener, it also nourishes and moisturizes the skin.  Dimethicone helps provide moisture and a silky smooth texture while creating a protective film barrier on your lips.

Ingredients: Octyldodecanol, Diisostearyl Malate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Fragrance, Water (35%), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Pentylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Diglycerin, Silica, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Ceteareth-20, Red 33 (CI 17200), Food Blue 2 (CI 42090), Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Pigment Red 57 (CI 15850), Polyethylene, Squalane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), Stevioside, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Limonene, Mica, Dipropylene Glycol, Acid Red 92 (CI 45410), Sorbitan Isostearate, Nylon 12, Diphenyl Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Polyglycerin-3, Laureth-12, Glycerin, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Polysilicone-11, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Pigment Red 57:1 (CI 15850:1), Dimethicone, Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone Beeswax, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Tocopherol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride)

Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa is a beautiful red-orange that is both bold and muted at the same time.  It is a bold color, but not neon bright.  It applies easily with lots of slip and is very glossy initially.  It dries down a bit, yet never loses that glossy finish nor is it drying on my lips ~ this adds a lot of moisture to my lips, keeping them conditioned.  The glossy finish will wear off, but it leaves behind a nice reddish-orange tint that is long lasting.  The applicator is a split slanted doe foot, and I really can get into the corners of my mouth with it.

One thing Amuse does tell us about caring for the Dew Tints is that due to the increased moisture content and fresh formulation, if exposed to direct light for a prolonged time, it can cause pigment separation or discoloration.  They recommend to keep it out of direct light as much as possible and storing it in a pouch or drawer if not in use.

Amuse makes 14 different shades in Dew Tints, ranging from sweet sheer colors to bold rich shades.  I think i would love to try Achim Fig next, as I am that marsala type of gal!  I am a huge fan of lip tints and Dew Tints are unique to me as they are glossy, not sheer matte yet they aren’t sticky or tacky on the lips, making this a great choice if I have to wear a mask!

  1. I was intrigued and decided to dig deeper when I saw your translation, as the words for love – 애 (ae) or 사랑 (sarang) normally used in Korean don’t appear in it at all.

I found the same two translations as you did: in the mood for love and the happiest moment of your life. It appears to be based on a Chinese idiomatic expression which looks hard to translate accurately. This is what Naver dictionary said, just in case. 1-Korean, 2-Chinese.

    1
화양연화(花樣年華) 인생에서 가장 아름답고 행복한 시간
    2
    花样年华,指人生中美好快乐的时光。
