Brand Introduction

For over 65 years, Yu-Be Skincare has been one of the top skincare brands from Japan.  This is because their signature cream   really repairs and moisturizes your skin and can be used all over your body. It has a high glycerin content, camphor and vitamins C, B and E along with Yu-be’s special manufacturing process that makes it so effective at healing without leaving a greasy feeling on the skin. ⁣

Back in 1955, Yu-Be was created by Yoshikiyo Nowatari’s pharmacy after a customer wanted a repairing, moisturizing hand cream that was not sticky. There was nothing to be had in his store,  so Mr Nowatari worked with researcher Masuji Wataya to create a highly concentrated glycerin based and vitamin enriched cream that absorbs quickly, moisturizes while relieving irritation without greasiness. ⁣

Yu-be has been everywhere in the world, even to Mt Everest and the lowest point on earth at the South Pole with Sumiyo Tsuzuki, who kept a tube of Yu-Be cream  strung around her neck. Yu-Be is safe for sensitive skin, no article colors or fragrances. With the exception of the Lip Balm  and Moisturizing Heel and Elbow Socks, Yu-Be products are 100% cruelty free and vegan.

Let’s talk about the two creams, provided by Smallflower.   The GOAT of Yu-Be’s skincare collection resides in this  Orange Tube ~ Moisturizing Skin Cream.  This vegan, non-greasy cream has a  pearly yellowish shade to it, with a cooling tingle.  The top ingredient is glycerin ~ may sound boring, but there is a reason why glycerin is a commonly used ingredient in skincare.  Hydrating humectant glycerin helps with healing of wounds, seals in moisture, maintains the skin’s water balance on an intercellular level, which makes the skin look healthy, moist  and not dry or scaly.   Skin is soft to the touch and glycerin is also an emollient, leaving your skin looking radiant and supple.

This also contains antioxidant protecting vitamins C, B2 and E, helping to build collagen and provide suppleness to your skin. It also has camphor, which does relieve skin inflammation, irritation and itching, and that is what provides that tingling feeling.   Gycyrrhetinic acid helps soothe and repair skin that has been chapped and sunburned ~ it also is used as a treatment for acne, dermatitis and itchy skin.  his is oil free and contains no alcohol.

This is truly a cream-balm and it is thick, yet spreads easily on the skin. This is truly soothing and highly emollient, with that sharp camphor scent.  The yellow shade comes from antioxidant riboflavin, vitamin B2, a powerhouse healing ingredient. I have used this cream for years when I do outdoor activities, especially in the winter months.  It provides that protective film on my skin, so that my skin doesn’t get windburned or chapped. I also use this year round on my feet, as it is one of the best skin softeners I have tried on my hard scaly soles.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid,Glyceryl Stearate SE,Triethanolamine,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Glycyrrhetinic Acid, Camphor, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Stearyl Alcohol,Polysorbate 80, EDTA ,Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C),Sodium Hyaluronate⁣ cosDNA

In the Green Tube is the Advanced Formula Pure Hydration Cream.  I believe this is a fairly new addition to Yu-Be or at least I have never seen this before.  For those who dislike camphor in the Moisturizing Skin Cream, but loved everything else about it, you should check this one out.  It’s texture is very similar to the Moisturizing Skin Cream, but it excludes the camphor, glycyrrhetinic acid and vitamin B2 and adds in vitamin B6 and chamomile.  Chamomile calms down the skin and relieves redness effectively as it has antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.   It helps to relieve skin issues and irritations because it soothes and lessens swelling and redness, while healing skin and stimulating cellular renewal.

Pyridoxine HCL, vitamin B6, has been used to help with dermatitis.  Just like the Orange Tube, the top ingredients include glycerin and isopropyl myristate. Isopropyl myristate is an emollient, so it softens and smoothes dry and flaky skin, but this ingredient also strengthens the skin barrier.

This time around, the cream is a pearly white with no scent to it, and no tingling camphor. This is very suitable for sensitive skin to apply on the face and it has that same protective film and softening properties that the Orange Tube has.  If you are outdoors A LOT, whether by the ocean or desert, you really should get one of these creams for your face and hands.  It really will protect and soothe your skin ~ you still need a sunscreen, but this will help prevent chapped skin and will facilitate healing.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Triethanolamine ,Stearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Polysorbate 80,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Pyridoxine HCL (Vitamin B6), Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract⁣ cosDNA

Moving on to the next must-have item, Yu-Be Lip Balm.  This is a no-fuss lip balm for all ages and genders.  This is not vegan, as it contains beeswax, but it has softening and repairing ingredients for your chapped, sore lips.  This has some really lovely nourishing, lip loving ingredients with soybean, sweet almond and coconut oils, for deep nourishment and conditioning, along with moisturizing, protective shea butter. This has aloe as well, along with stevia and rosemary.  I really don’t pick up a taste with this lip balm, so I think that is just to offset any flavors from the other ingredients.  This does have vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant and camphor to help relieve irritation ~ but don’t worry, unlike the Orange Tube cream, you won’t know this has camphor in it.  There is no tingling cooling sensation.

This is very nice lip balm as it really coats the lips with the oils and butters, providing a protective film while softening and smoothing chapped, sore lips.   Alas, it looks like Yu-Be might be discontinuing this particular product, so if you find it out there, grab it ~ this is still available at Small Flower.

Ingredients: Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cera alba (Beeswax), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil,, Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Eupatorium Rebaudianum Bertoni (Stevia) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary Leaf Extract) cosDNA

Yu-Be sent me the next two items and they are found at their website.  Let’s talk about YUZU!! I think this cream got the most interest when I posted the unboxings on my IG account. Everyone loves yuzu, that wonderfully citrus scent!  Yuzu Pure Hydration Cream is very similar to the both of the creams ~ it contains glycerin, isopropyl myristate and hydrogenated coco-glycerides.  Hydrogenated coco-glycerides is a coconut derived emulsifier helps keep skin soft and smooth and gives the cream a light feeling despite its thickness.  It absorbs quickly and delivers nourishment and moisture to the skin, while forming a protective layer on the skin, trapping moisture and conditioning skin.

I love this one as a hand cream!  Its tube size is perfect for my purse and I love the scent.  The fragrance is amazing and I already purchased two more of these as I think this is a winner!   It keeps my very dry hands soft and smooth while protecting them from the cold weather ~ I am notorious for not wearing gloves in the wintertime, so my hands get very raw and chapped.

Ingredients: Glycerin,Water,Stearic Acid,Isopropyl Myristate,Glyceryl Stearate SE, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Stearate, Sorbitan Stearate,Stearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Yuzu Fragrance, Polyglyceryl-3 Distearate,Polysorbate 80, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Pyridoxine HCL (Vitamin B6)  cosDNA

Finally, something specifically for my tough feet!  I have mixed feelings about the Moisturizing Heel and Elbow Socks. My feet are so dry and cracked right now.  These yellow socks are made with hypoallergenic, antimicrobial chitosan material  ~ chitosan is from the shells of  crustaceans and  helps promote healthy skin and eliminate odors. To use, just spread some Yu-Be cream on your feet and pop these socks over them at night. You can also use this on your elbows as well, if you have rough dry elbows⁣.

These do WORK.  The socks really lock in the cream and help my feet look smoother and less cracked.   However, my mixed feelings are due to the design of the sock.  I understand this is a two in one product ~ you can also use it on the elbows, but I wish Yu-Be would create a full sock for the feet only.  I found that my ball of my foot and toes could use this protection as well, and I wore these socks with another pair of full socks over them, to lock in the cream.  Yu-Be, please make a full sock for feet only!

To care for: Hand wash, hang dry.  No bleach, dry clean or ironing.

Made in Japan of 55% Cotton, 24% Acrylic, 16% Polyester, 5% Polyurethane.

Yu-Be is really a fantastic brand ~ their formulas are really designed to help those whose skin is exposed to outdoor elements quite a bit.  If you are an outdoorsy person, whether it is skiing, biking, sailing, snowboarding, gardening, hiker ~ the list goes on and on ~ I do recommend picking up a tube from them and trying it out.  All of their creams can be used on the face and body, you just need to decide which one is right for you!  Do you want unscented, camphor or Yuzu?  Or all three?   The lip balm is also a must ~ we often forget about our lips and then curse ourselves when they start peeling and are sore.  Yu-Be lip balm is a lot more nourishing than Chapstick, imho and doesn’t have that waxy feel ~ it really feels like butter on my lips.
