I am so excited to review this brand new line of hair and body care from Wishtrend, Jungle Botanics.  I was attracted to this line because of the ingredients (mint!) and the product claims.  I will also be reviewing the Jungle Botantics Forest Leaves Warming Treatment ~ however I want to focus on the cooling shampoo today.

We’re from the jungle.  Jungle Botanics brings you the vitality of the green jungle amidst the jungle of concrete by combining advanced technologies with  superb ingredients direct from Mother Nature.  Our mission is to replenish natural energy and return balance  to your skin by using revitalizing elements found in nature, and in turn restoring the natural, healthy state of your skin.  We found our answer in the jungle.

This shampoo is a hypo-allergenic shampoo that is free from silicone and phthalates, which means it is safe for color treated hair.  It is made with a variety of natural plant extracts, called Amazon Forest Complex.   It will not use silicone to coat the cuticles of your hair, so it will allow for your scalp to breath and be healthy, while conditioning your hair cuticles with natural and beneficial ingredients.   Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo is specially formulated for oily hair and oily/sensitive scalp and it has a refreshing cooling effect.  It will deep clean your scalp, removing excess oil and grime, while soothing your scalp and boosting your hair’s volume.  I’ve written before about why it is important to have a healthy clean scalp and will repeat it again here

You want to have a healthy scalp so that pores are unblocked, sebum production is maintained without imbalance and good blood flow to your hair root, so that your hair will grow fast and healthy.   Removing any build up will prevent “plaque” that has formed on your scalp, which is a by-product of your natural hair oils, hair products including shampoos and conditioners, pollution, sweat and dirt.   This will allow your scalp to “breath” and new hair growth will occur.

What makes this cooling?  Menthol, wintergreen, eucalyptus and peppermint extracts will really give a refreshing, cooling feeling on your scalp, while acting as astringents and stimulating blood circulation.

This also has salicylic acid and tree tree oil, which means it will help unclog your hair follicles of dirt and oil, allowing for new hair growth.  Climbazole is an anti fungal/anti-septic ingredient and will help with dandruff. Lots of botanical extracts in this shampoo, full of antioxidants and moisturizing properties ~ basil,  oregano, moringa, acerola, acai, coconut, brazil nut, pracaxi, avocado, macadamia,  sunflower, sea buckthorn, argan, olive oil and more.  Jungle Botanics really packed the full Amazon Jungle in here!

This 250 mL bottle has a beautiful presentation ~ I love the simplicity of its design with tropical leaves against the grey & white label.  It looks very much at home at a spa setting ~ very classy.  The pump applicator actually can be moved to closed position just by twisting it, so no more accidental shampoo leakage if you are carrying this in a gym bag or when you travel.    The manufactured date is clearly marked at the bottom of the shampoo bottle.

The shampoo itself is a pale mint green gel with bright glue-green capsules.  When I initially pumped this product in the palm of my hand, the first scent is a light floral and I was disappointed as I thought it would be minty…. Then as I shampooed my hair, the bright green capsules burst and I was treated with the sparkling menthol and mint scent explosion ~ not only did it immediately have a cooling effect on my hair and scalp, but the scent also woke me up ~ it really is a wonderful experience!

If you have clogged sinuses in the morning, this shampoo will clear that up right away 🙂   The refreshing feeling on my scalp felt so good ~ if you are currently going thru a heatwave where you live, like I am, this shampoo will be one of your favorites.  For a sulfate free shampoo, it foams up nicely ~ I use 2 pumps for my chin length hair and I never get the feeling that I have to add more to cleanse my hair properly.  Some sulfate shampoos don’t foam up nicely and I use a lot more just to get that “clean” feeling.

Jungle Botanics did make claims  of a lower pH level, so I had to test it!  The pH level of this shampoo is 5.5 to 6 ~ probably closer to a 6.  According to Wishtrend, this slightly acidic level will help balance the pH level of your hair ~ this is important if you perm or color your hair, as it will have been alkalized.  I color my hair, so this shampoo already handles two of my concerns ~ shampoo for oily hair and a shampoo that is safe and beneficial for color treated hair

I feel that Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo is both a de-scaler and a cleanser ~ I’ve used de-scalers before as I need extra “degreasing” due to my oily hair.  What is a de-scaler? It is a product that helps  remove build up, refresh and de-grease.   Our hair is “dead”, but our scalp is alive and we do not give enough attention to it, and over time, hair product buildup and dead skin cells will make your hair look greasy and dull, and it will slow down your hair growth.  Normally, just shampooing  alone cannot do a good deep cleanse, so doing a detox/scaler treatment for your scalp will unclog the pores, remove dead skin and product buildup.   This will help stimulate your hair growth as your hair follicles will be clean and unclogged.  I feel that Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo is acting as a two-in-one product due to its aromatic, astringent and detoxing ingredients from the mint family and the gentle exfoliating benefits of salicylic acid.

My hair feels so clean and bouncy after I use this shampoo.  I have oily hair so I do not find that this shampoo dries out my hair, but if you have drier hair than I do, just make sure to add some extra conditioner at the tips of your hair. This is a pricey shampoo ~ however, you only need a couple of pumps to lather your hair ~ maybe one more pump if you have longer hair ~ so hopefully, this will last over a month.  And as I feel it handles the job of two products ~ de-scaler and cleanser ~ that eliminates the need for additional products ~ de-scalers can be pricey as well.

So far, I’ve been using it daily since I have received it and I love the refreshing cooling feeling and also my scalp is not as oily or itchy!   It has been a hot, humid summer here so far and oil production goes up the hotter it gets ~ I am glad I have this shampoo on hand to cut back on the oil and deep cleanse my hair.  Have you tried this shampoo yet?   What is your favorite ~ new or old ~ summertime shampoo to beat the oil and refresh your senses?
