Unboxing Beauty

I love a bargain and e.l.f. cosmetics is a fantastic bargain!  I have purchased high end makeup and cheapo makeup and I have to say, elf manages to marry decent quality with bargain basement prices.  And if you don’t like the color, so what?  You only paid a few bucks for it and not $30.00 for a navy blue lipstick that you impulsively purchased ~ oh FOMO.  I was jonesing for nude lippies big time and then saw these great matte (yeah, love matte) eye shadows at e.l.f’s online store, so off I went and purchased a bunch of stuff.  Shipping with e.l.f. is SLOW, but I don’t always find all of the colors or products at my local CVS or Target.  Let’s see what I got!

I purchased several lip products 

e.l.f. Day to Night Lipstick Duo in Graphic Minimalist This color combo is currently sold out at their site, but WOW.  I was looking at another combo, which was sold out and decided to pick this one.  This is just beautiful ~ one side has dark berry shade and the other a dark nude-brown shade (below).  This is a great lipstick to bring with me on vacation, as it covers two colors that I love ~ berry and nudes!  The color payoff is fantastic and it goes on smoothly, without patchy areas.  I am going to have to go back and get some more shades, as the berries, nudes and even the reds are really appealing to me!  RV $5.00

e.l.f. Lip Kiss Balm  I do like their lip balms, they have a nice fruity minty taste to them. They are very sheer and the color isn’t that buildable.  Don’t let the shade in the tube scare you if you aren’t into dark colors ~ these are so not pigmented.  These are just a nice sheer lip balm that tastes nice.  I purchased Smoochy Spice, which is a peach-brown shade and Berry Sweet, a sheer raspberry color that isn’t shocking bright .  They have a ton of shades to pick from and this is dirt cheap, and they are very moisturizing.  RV $2.00

e.l.f. Velvet Matte Lipstick in Dark Brown   I wanted to get Blushing Brown but I liked this shade when I saw it swatched. This is a nice cocoa brown shade, but this is not a matte lipstick. This is a satin lippie, which is fine, but if you were set on a matte lipstick, this is not it. Very pretty color and great for the fall, but it has some patchy issues, which might be because it is so dark.  I am not allergic to this type of rose extract, so that is good news! RV $3.00

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Smooth Matte Eyeshadow I love matte makeup, so when I saw these eye shadows that were liquid mattes, I picked all of them up! There are only four shades

1. Nude Linen is a great all over eye color and can be an eye primer if this shade matches your skin tone
2. Soft Beige is a light caramel shade, very warm with yellowish tones. It really is a pretty classic color for the fall
3. Brown Cashmere is a deep dark chocolate brown – no reds or blue tones here. It is a solid chocolate brown. I love darker colors on my eyes, so I will  wear this above my crease ~ I have hooded lids, so I have to go above my crease line. I can also use an eyeliner brush and line my eyes with this
4. Blushing Rose is a beautiful rose-mauve color and this will go on my lips. This is a great nude-rose shade and I love matte lippies.

These are long wearing, but they can be a bit patchy ~ but since I am not wearing these as a huge rectangles on my eyes, I feel that I can work with it.  These dry quickly, so any mistakes you make, fix ’em fast.  You can blend them with your fingertips or use a crease brush.  Once dry, you can add another layer to deepen the color.   RV $4.00
