This blog post is my mask digest roundup of facial sheet masks that I have tried that are for oily, blemish prone and/or pore minimizing skin concerns. These reviews were originally blogged at my IG account. Be prepared for an onslaught of terrified looking selfies!! Lock up the kiddies 😀 This is a MASSIVE blog post on masks and I decided to split this into two parts for now, as I have several more masks that I need to finish up on in the next week or so. I am sure that I will have part 3, 4 and so one, as masks for oily skinned types are always in use by me.
I did hyperlink the mask name to an online store where you can purchase them and at the end of this blog post, I will also have some promo codes and referral links that might be of interest to you.
Skin Factory Solution A-Plus Ampoule Mask (Korea)This mask is made with a patented silk cellulose mask sheet. This mask is good for those who have “troubled” skin ~ in other words, oily, blemish prone skin. The gentle ingredients make it ideal for sensitive skin. There is 30 mL of essence in this mask, so it is a WET mask. A lot of essence in the packet as well, so you can either put it on your face and neck or decant it into a plastic baggie and frig to use the next day as a serum. This mask is made with all natural ingredients and a few of them are targeted to help oily, blemish prone skin
- Centella Asiatica is a common herbal ingredient that is used medicinally to help speed up wound healing, such as blemishes and skin rashes. It also helps minimize the appearance of pores, and since it stimulates collagen production, it will make your skin more supple and firm.
- Houttuynia Cordata is a medicinal herb and is an antibiotic, which helps with preventing infection from skin problems, such as blemishes. it is also a potent antioxidant, as it contains anti-aging compounds such as flavonoids and triterpenoid, which helps strengthen, purify and revitalize your skin. It also has powerful detox properties, is an astringent and anti-inflammatory.
- Chamomilla Recutita (matricaria) helps soothe skin as it is an anti-inflammatory
- Salicylic Acid is an exfoliating ingredient that will help gently unclog your pores and increase cellular renewal, which means it can also help even out your skin tone, by revealing new skin. This is an anti-inflammatory compound and will help reduce inflammation and redness, while healing acne blemishes.
The essence is very thick and almost gel-like. There is a slight scent, but it fades quickly. The mask fit is pretty good and there are eye flaps if you want to place them over your closed eyes, but I rarely use those. Due to amount of essence, I was able to leave this mask on for an hour, and it was still damp when I removed it. This is a mask you should use at nighttime, as it does take a while for the residue to absorb in completely. It is very sticky for a while afterwards. My face, in the morning, was nice and clear, my blemish was no longer red and had reduced in size. I really liked how the mask felt too, as it was smooth and slick, due to all of the essence and the material of the mask
Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, glycerin, propylene glycol, alcohol, centella asiatica extract, 1,2-hexanediol, houttuynia cordata extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, portulaca oleracea extract, betaine, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, allantoin, carbomer, triethanolamine, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, hydroxyethylcellulose, Bis-PEG-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane, disodium EDTA, fragrance, tricolsan, salicylic acid, phenoxyethanol cosDNA.com analysis
Karuna Exfoliating Face Mask (Taiwan)This is one of my expensive masks that I picked up at Sephora for $8.00. This mask is made with 100% all natural wood pulp fiber cloth and according to the description, this mask will “help pores fully absorb nourishing ingredients…deep conditions skin….creates visibly hydrated, softer, smoother skin”. T his mask is for oily, combo, problem skin and is not for sensitive skin. It is also oil free.
The mask comes with pearl paper (that plastic protector) which I am not sure why ~ this mask is not thin ~ it is a normal sheet weight, imho. Seems unnecessary. That said, it was easy to apply and the fit is good. The scent is very strong ~ I can smell the salicylic acid. It is very bitter smelling and it can be a turn off. This is a very wet mask, soaked with essence. I took the mask off after 25 minutes and it was still damp (I had to go to bed!!) I will say that my face looked brighter ~ much brighter in tone. The moisture level was almost 59% after 2 minutes, so this is a very hydrating mask. Any essence that was left on my face was quickly absorbed. My face feels refreshed too, very cool, and also.. big plus here… not oily, but almost matte. This is great! I think this mask is perfect for warmer months due to the mattifying effect. This is an expensive mask, but easily found at Sephora (you can also get it in a box of 4) I would repurchase. I should point out this looks to be a California company, but the mask is made in Taiwan.

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask Strawberry (Korea)🍓🍓 This mask will help brighten your skin due to the niacinamide. Strawberries are also great for blemish prone skin too! Strawberry extracts act as an antibacterial and astringent, to control oil and acne prevention, as well as nourishing your skin with a slew of vitamins: A, B1, B2, B6, C and E, just among some of them and an antioxidant as well. The mask fit is very good, I do like this series from Innsifree ~ they do contain alcohol, so if you are sensitive to that ingredient, please take note of that. The sheet mask is made of 3 layers of artificial silk, and not only contains 200mg of Strawberry 🍓🍓Fruit Juice but the famous Innisfree Green Complex formula of green tea🌱🌱, tangerine🍊🍊, cactus, camellia leaves and orchid extracts, to help hydrate and enhance your skin’s complexion. This mask does smell like strawberries 🙂 It is a wet mask, so I was able to keep it on my face for 40 minutes ~ after removing, my face was very moisturized and in fact, there was a tacky residue that took about 15 minutes to absorb in completely. However, my skin looked brighter, smooth and more clear, so I am pretty happy with this one!
Ingredients: water, glycerin, butylene glycol, niacinamide, alcohol, betaine, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, fragaria chilensis (strawberry) fruit juice (200mg), xanthan gum, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hyaluronate, citrus unshiu peel extract, orchid extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, camellia japonica leaf extract, opuntia coccinellifera fruit extract, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, fragrance cosDNA.com analysis
Leaders Insolution Coconut Gel Balancing Recovery Mask (Korea) This mask will help control oil and blemishes, while deeply hydrating skin. I do not know exactly what AC-Fensine is made from, but I did find a description for what it does: ”AC-Fensine : Kills acne bacteria, Strengthens skin’s immune system” It does sound like a patented ingredient: “…developed by the Spanish research institute to destroy acne bacteria on the skin while strengthening the immune system.” This is supposed to help restore the oil/moisture balance, remove excess oil, reduce redness and help clean pores(due to the AC-fensine ingredient)
This does have rose water, but it was one of the last items on the list, so I did spot test with the essence first (which is VERY THICK – it is not watery, but a gel!) and nothing bad happened. Coconut gel masks always have that weird scent to them ~ I experienced this with Farmacy and once again with Leaders. It isn’t at all like coconut, but kinda chemical smelling. A bit off putting, which is I why I rarely use coconut gel masks, even though I think they are fantastic. I left this on for 40 minutes and my face was very moisturized. I don’t think it helped at all with the oil, as there was a lot of sticky residue on my face, that I patted in ~ yet my face was still very dewy and “shiney”. I didn’t find anything great about this mask, as I was looking for an oil control, and felt that I got a really moisturizing mask with a lot of tacky residue. Not a fan of this one. Honestly, I think this version has been discontinued as well.
Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, acer saccharum (sugar maple) extract, betaine, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, glycerin, xanthan gum, portulaca oleracea extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, arnica montana flower extract, artemisia absinthium extract, achillea millefoliun extract, gentiana lutea root extract, ledium palustre extract, ecklonia cava extract, artemisia capillaris flower extract, houttuynia cordata extract, saururus chinensis extract, lactobacillus, leuconostoc (lactic acid), cocos nucifera (coconut) fruit extract, niacinamide, Acetyl Dipeptide-3 Aminohexanoate, terminalia chebula fruit extract, caesalphinia sappan bark extract, magnolia obovata bark extract, melissa officinalis flower/leaf/stem water, anthemis nobilis flower water, calendula officinalis flower water, rosa damascena flower water, triticum spelta (spelt) seed water, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, fragrance cosDNA.com analysis
My Scheming Herbal Anti-Acne Mask (Taiwan) I love My Scheming masks ~ their mint collagen mask is still my favorite ~ and I have a bunch of My Scheming masks that I need to try out. This one is their anti-acne mask and I was really interested in their ingredients in this one.
Description: The mask contains orris (iris) and green tea extracts, which can balance oil secretion and relieve youth oily skin problems. Allantoin, hamamelis (witch hazel) and chamomile extracts in the mask can relieve skin problems, reduce inflammation and pores, moisturize skin, improve skin quality and prevent an allergic reaction.
Now, I do not have ‘youth’ oily skin problems ~ I have old oily skin problems!! My Scheming masks are thin, but not as thin as Lovemore or Annie’s Way and have a good fit, plus lots of essence. It has a light scent, but it is so light, that I consider this to be odorless. After 30 minutes, I removed and WOW. My skin looks so much brighter! I have no idea what is in here that would have caused that, but overall, my face is more brighter. The zinc sulfate and sulfur really helped with controlling excess oil and my face is matte, but moisturized. This mask also leaves your skin cool to the touch. I really like this one!! Have you tried it?
Ingredients: butylene glycol, xanthan gum, zinc sulfate, hydroxyethyl chitosan, iris florentina root extract,
algae extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) bark/leaf/twig extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, aloe barbadensis flower extract, sulfur, hydroxyyethyl sorbitol, sodium salicylate, propylene glycol, ceteth-20, linoleic acid, ceteth-6, allantoin, dipotassium glycyrrhetinate, sodium PCA, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, acacia catechu seed extract, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed wheat protein, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil, hydroxyethyl urea, glycerin, methylparaben, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, methylisothiazolinone, water cosDNA.com analysis
Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Mask (Taiwan) I received this mask in one of my @beautibi hauls and I am pretty excited to try this out ~ I also own a couple of more Naruko masks and will review those as well. This is a ‘black’ mask, as it is made with carbon ~ many black masks are really great for oily skin, as it will help absorb a lot of oil. The mask is a bit smaller than I would like, but it fits okay ~ no weirdly placed mouth, nose or eyes. This is a very wet mask and there is a lot of essence in the bag, which I just placed on top of the mask. This mask smells REALLY nice ~ it has a spearmint-citrus scent to it. I left it on for 20 minutes and my face was very wet still ~ my skin hadn’t absorbed the essence very well when I was wearing the mask. At first, I didn’t like this mask, but as the essence was absorbed into my skin (it took about 10-15 minutes for my face to totally dry), I really liked how my face felt, which was smooth and oil-free. So, I went from a meh to a YEAH on this Naruko mask.
Description: This activated carbon mask is designed to absorb excess oil and prevent acne. It enhances sebum secretion control and maintains oil-water balance for shine & blemish free skin. It cleanses pores and balances sebum production while providing hydration to reduce blemishes and post blemish marks

Dewytree Tea Tree Blemish Solution Mask (Korea) Continuing with my series of masks for oily/blemish prone skin, I picked Dewytree Tea Tree mask. I’ve used this one before and was wondering why I still had a couple of these masks left. I remembered why when I opened this up ~ the mask smells horrible. It is a strong perfumed scent, which I have no idea why it is smells like that. Cheap floral. The mask is very wet, and the essence almost makes the 100% cotton sheet mask gelatinous in its feel ~ Within a few minutes, my face began to feel like it was burning, so I removed it. I didn’t get any redness or irritation, thankfully, it just felt uncomfortable and the scent was just heinous. The mask fit was okay – very short around the nose bridge, but in the end, it didn’t matter as I couldn’t handle this formula
Description: Trouble care ingredients such as tea tree leaf extract, sciadopitys verticillata root extract, althaea rosea flower extract help to calm sensitivity and soothe your skin discomfort. Also, lemon fruit extract assist to control the balance of skin by reducing the secretion of sebum. This helps your skin to be healthier, balance and free from skin troubles of white heads, black heads and acne. Cotton sheet mask with a silky touch delivers these highly concentrated nutrients efficiently to skin for a balance and blemish-free complexion.
Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, glycerin, melateuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf extract, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, alcohol, dimethicone, sodium hyaluronate, betaine, trehalose, panthenol, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, hydrolyzed collagen, carbomer, potassium hydroxide, cymbopogon schoenanthus leaf extract, citrus medica limonum (lemon) fruit extract, sciadopitys verticillata root extract, althaea rosea flower extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, trisodium EDTA, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, 1,2-hexanediol, phenoxyethanol, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil cosDNA.com analysis
LJH TeaTree Facial Mask Sheet (Korea) I know that LJH gets a lot of love from K-Beauty fans, but I haven’t had much luck with their tea tree line, outside of the facial and body mists. The essence did nothing for my skin (nothing bad, nothing good) and I fear this mask is the same way. This is a cotton mask with a very bad fit around the eyes, nose and mouth. It not overly wet, just barely and it is scentless, for those worried about a tea tree scent. It felt nice and cool on my skin but other than that, it really didn’t do much ~ perhaps if I had active blemishes it might help soothe them ~ but I just didn’t love this mask. I really like Benton’s Snail Bee and Innisfree Bija masks over this one.
Description: This mask instantly calms and cures problematic skin with tea tree extract while centella asiatica and ginkgo leaf extract brightens and evens skin tone. Treat, calm, and moisturize skin.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Butylene Glycol, Ethanol, Grapefruit Extract, Tea Tree Leaf Extract (100mg), PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract, Artemisa Herb Extract, Ginkgo Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance cosDNA.com analysis
Benton Snail 🐌 Bee 🐝 High Content Mask Pack (Korea) This is one of my favorite masks for when my face feels really oily or has blemishes. I find it to be very soothing and helps reduce redness, while controlling oil and hydrating my skin. The other day, I had tried the LHJ Tea Tree mask and I had complained how dry it was and the fit was bad, plus it didn’t do anything. This mask is also on the drier side as far as essence goes, but I find that the mask benefits outweigh that this is a bit drier. My face feels refreshed and if I have blemishes, they are less red and sore after I use this. Snail mucin will help moisturize and heal your skin and bee venom helps prevent blemishes. This mask is also good for sensitive skin as well. I really love this mask and I try to keep 5 to 10 on hand, as I am known just to slap this on in the morning as a quick pick-my-skin-up!
Description: This Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack is concentrated with cell regeneration snail mucin, and blemish fighting bee venom to encourage the skin’s natural recovery function. It provides a rich infusion of moisture and nutrients to the skin to help improve skin texture. Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack is for all types of skin including sensitive. Instead of water, this product uses Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Snail secretion filtrate, Bee venom and EGF to cleanse your rough and damaged skin from various stresses and poluttion. In addition to the skin-soothing, moisture supply and skin tone improvement functions, arbutin and adenosine contents in this product will help whiten your skin and remove wrinkles.
Ingredients: Camillia Sinensis Leaf Water, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Glycerin, Arbutin, Bee Venom, Human Ogliopeptide-1, Plantago Asiatica Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Ulmus Campestris (Elm) Extract, Bacilus Ferment, Azelaic Acid, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Beta-Glucan, Betaine, Xanthan Gum, Adenosine, Panthenol, Allantoin, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Arginine cosDNA.com analysis

Althaea Rosea is not a rose ~ it is part of the Mallow family (Malvaceae). It is used as an emollient and an anti-inflammatory.
y.e.t. Don’t Worry Mask (Firefighter — soothing) (Korea) y.e.t Don’t Worry series is a set of facial sheet masks, targeting different issues using different professions ~ I received the firefighter one in my January @maskgenie and it is to “put out that fire” on your face by being a soothing mask. It has 12 mg of aloe vera and portulaca extracts that will help moisturize and soothe your skin, while argan oil will moisturize and propolis will help reduce redness and blemishes. The mask sheet is of medium weight but it drapes fairly well ~ it is not printed with a firefighter theme or anything like that ~ just a standard white cotton mask sheet. The amount of essence is adequate. What was off putting was the scent. I don’t know what it is, but it seems lately that I more sensitive to floral type scents, and this one has a floral scent to it. I didn’t like it and the mask didn’t do that much for my skin either. It was meh. C’est la vie
Ingredients: water, glycerin, butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, portulaca oleracea extract, methylparaben, phenoxyethanol, triethanolamine, carbomer, xanthan gum, aloe barbadensis leaf extract (12mg), cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, fragrance, chlorphenesin, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, salvia mitiorrhiza root extract, schizandra chinensis fruit extract, coptis japonica root extract, rhus semialata gall extract, argania spinosa kernal oil, malighia glabra (acerola) fruit extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, centella asiatica extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, propolis extract, oenothera biennis (evening primrose) seed extract
b-liv don’t get mad, get matte Absolute Matte Mask I am not sure where this mask is made ~ Singapore, Thailand, Korea? It is all over the map. I believe MaskGenie mentioned it and I promptly forgot! (the lovely @christinahello gave me the answer ~ Singapore!) This mask claims to regulate oil production while stimulate skin cell renewal due to Retinyl Palmitate. Zinc Sulfate will help combat excess oil while exfoliating dirt and debris and Willow Bark will also reduce the oily shine while helping reduce redness and blemishes. This is a black charcoal mask, which will help detox. It is a wet mask for sure ~ almost dripping, and it does smell a bit like witch hazel to me. However, it is so cooling and refreshing on my skin ~ I think that this is the peppermint with its menthol action ~ I cannot smell the mint, but I can feel it. The fit is pretty good, but the mask material is a bit thicker, so it does pull away from my chin ~ I have to moisten it and push it back into place. After 20 minutes, I removed the mask ~ my face felt refreshed and not oily, very hydrated without feeling greasy. Did it mattify my face? Well, my face wasn’t shiny, but I would not say completely matte. What is interesting to me is that this mask contains Vitamin A, which is kinda rare in Korean skincare. I do like this mask, but due to its rarity here stateside, it isn’t something I will go out of my way to hunt down and purchase.
Description: This innovative skin-saver is all you need to lift away impurities and excess sebum, leaving the skin clear, balanced and fabulously glowing. Don’t get mad at bothersome oil/shine, get matte! Absolute Matte helps combat excess sebum and control surface shine while purifying and refreshing your complexion. Unlike any other, it uses active charcoal mask sheet that acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers so you can experience hours & hours of TLC your skin deserves.
Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) Leaves Extract, Peppermint (Mentha piperita) Leaf Water, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Butylene Glycol, German Iris (Iris florentina) Root Extract, Allantoin, Sodium Polyglutamate, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor oil, Amur Cork (Phellodendron amurense) Bark Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Menthyl Lactate, Glycolic Acid, Zinc Sulfate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chamomile (Chamomilla recutita) Flower Extract, Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate), Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis) Root Extract, Willow (Salix alba) Bark Extract, Chinese Foxglove (Rehmannia glutinosa) Root Extract, White Cedar (Melia azadirachta) Leaf Extract, Heartleaf (Houttuynia cordata) Extract, Soy (Glycine soja) Protein, Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) Leaf Oil, Glyceryl Caprylate, Menthol, Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) Leaf Extract, O-CYMEN-5-OL
MasKingdom Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask (Taiwan) This is from MasKingdom’s Mood series and I have to say, that I purchased this partly because of the fat yellow cat!! I am a #krazycatlady, afterall! I think these are made with Japanese silk, and the mask sheet is very thin, but it is so drenched with essence, that the mask is dripping! This is a scentless mask and I am a fan of MasKingdom and the fit of their masks ~ it manages to fit my big face nicely. Since the mask is so wet, I was able to leave this on for a lot longer than 10 minutes ~ This mask is an all purpose one and perfect for my needs ~ anti-aging, brightening and oil control. This has apple extracts, an ingredient I love because of its antioxidant, anti-aging properties, plus oil control plus brightening! Edelweiss (alpinum) which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits and Centella Asiatica which is fantastic for helping oily and blemish prone skin.
I did like this mask a lot, as it hydrated my face nicely, and reduced any redness I still have from some blemishes (thanks C-PAP machine!) around my nose and mouth. My pores looked tighter (temporarily, but still..) and my whole face seemed brighter. You can purchase this mask from Beautibi ~ they have a whole selection of different MasKingdom masks and I have reviewed some of their other masks. Also, if you want to save $5.00 off your FIRST purchase at Beautibi, I have a referral code that I have provided below at the end of this blog post.
