Unboxing February 2016 BirchBox

I went with a surprise box instead of the curated box this month, after reviewing the PYS choices that were offered for February.   I decided to pick REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask for my sample choice and I also liked the box design too!

My Box Revealed!

Informational Card

The theme this month is “What’s the occasion?”  (and they did a typo on the word occasion on the card!!)

Woops!! I don’t see my REN PYS choice in here!!

Color Club® That’s My Jam Nail Polish  I really like this mini nail polish ~ it is a the color of  bright raspberries.  It is a very festive shade and perfect for the winter doldrums.  I do like Color Club polishes, they seem to be pretty chip resistant on my hands.   Mini Size .25 oz RV $4.25

Ingredients: Butyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol/Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Silica, Benzophenone-1, Fragrance, Bis (Glycidoxyphenal) Propane/Bisamino Methylnorbornane Copolymer, Shellac, Aluminum Hydroxide, Polyethylene Terephthalate.

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner  Yes!  Last year, we were promised that this eyeliner would be in all of our boxes and I guess it got held up in shipping.  I am pleased to have this eyeliner in my box as I love a liquid eyeliner.  This is like a felt tip marker, not a traditional brush liquid liner, so if you are new to liquid eyeliners, this will make applying the liner much easier.  This will create a fat line, so if you are looking for a thinner line, this is not doing to do that.  But it makes for a great cat eye or winged eye!  It is pretty long lasting, with minimum smudging and works pretty well.  Full Size 3.5 RV $16.00

Description: Meet the new chubby eyeliner pen from Eyeko—proof that sometimes, bigger really is better. This easy-to-use liner lets you get a steady grip for even application. It delivers the same smudge-proof, budge-proof, rich color we adore—now in a thicker, bolder-than-ever line. Enriched with nourishing algae extract, this liner glides on smoothly for a high-impact look (without any fuss).

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Acrylates Copolymer, Propanediol, PPG-26, Sorbitol, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-40, Algae extract, Caprylyl Glycol. MAY CONTAIN: CI 77266 (Carbon Black), CI 77007 (Ultramarines)

Hey Honey Take It Off Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask  I’ve actually tried this before and I do like it. It does smell like alcohol, not honey, so don’t be too disappointed.  This is a peel off mask and you just apply a layer on your freshly washed face, leave on till dry (15 ~ 20 minutes) and then gently peel off dead skin cells, dirt, excess oil and all sorts of lovely gunk.   When your skin is free of dirt and debris, your face will look brighter, less dull and this also has AHA ingredients ~ lactic and glycolic acids ~  in it, to help exfoliate as well.  I like using this in the summer time, due to the high alcohol content, plus my face is much oilier then as well.  This has moisturizing ingredients with honey, glycerin, jojoba and panthenol.  Sample Size 10 mL RV $5.80

Ingredients: Water (aqua), polyvinyl alcohol, alcohol, polysorbate 20, honey extract, glycerin, propanediol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, lactic acid, glycolic acid, lithospermum erythrorhizon root extract, carbomer, triethanolamine, panthenol, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, disodium EDTA  cosDNA.com analysis

Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum – Fine to Medium   Initially, I wasn’t thrilled to get this in my box, as it seems way too moisturizing, but it actually turns out this is a light serum that absorbs quickly into my hair.  Now, I will not use this during the daytime, but I think this will be really nice as an overnight treatment on the ends of my hair.  It has a light, pleasant scent and sea buckthorn berry oil is full of antioxidants that will smooth and coat damaged hair strands.   Sample Size 15 mL  RV $8.77

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hippophea Rhamonoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer  As my readers know, I do prefer K-Beauty moisturizers on my face but I am open to trying new items.   Naobay is a brand that is made in Spain, and I believe I have had tried some of their products in the past.  This is made with shea butter, avocado, sweet almond  and olive oils, but it is not heavy at all ~ it is a creamy lightweight, yet moisturizing, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a shine behind.   It is pretty strongly lemon scent, but it quickly disappears after it is applied to your skin.   It is a nice eco-friendly, natural moisturizer.   Deluxe Size 30 mL RV $21.60

Ingredients: Aqua, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, Methylglucose sesquistearate, Propanediol, Glyceryl stearate, Stearyl alcohol, Rosa moschata oil*, Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil*, Butyrospermum parkii butter*, Persea gratissima oil*, Glycerin, Chamomilla recutita flower extract*, Benzyl alcohol, Dehydroacetic acid, Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzoate, Parfum, d-Limonene, Citral, Linalool  cosDNA.com analysis

I didn’t get my REN, but I emailed Birchbox and they will be sending me my PYS, so I am happy that I will get to try it out.  I am pretty happy with my box  ~ I did get a pretty raspberry nail polish, a liquid eyeliner that I had been hoping that Birchbox would finally give us (after they promised us last year we would get it) and the Honey Take It Off mask is something I have tried in the past and I do like.  I also like the hair serum as a night time treatment and the Naobay moisturizer is a nice, ordinary facial cream.   AND I will get my REN mask coming in the mail, I cannot complain too much!     This month’s RV of items is worth $56.42 and I paid $10.00 for this box.   I also reviewed my box, so I got 50 Birchbox points ~ every 100 points is worth $10.00 in their shop.  The twitter and Facebook share option for points has been discontinued 😦    Please fill out your review ~ it is just the questionnaire part and you will get 10 points for each product!
