Memebox Shara Shara Box Unboxing!

I remember back in the heyday of Memebox Global, when Shara Shara was a staple in our Memeboxes.  However, at that time, Memebox sent out the makeup side of the Shara Shara line initially and that stuff is really awful.   Shara Shara started to get a really bad reputation among Memebox Addicts and the hate was real.  Their skincare is another story ~ I kept an open mind when I started getting the skincare side of the Shara Shara line and I really liked their products for the most part.  Memebox even had a few value sets that were Shara Shara skincare, of which I purchased one of them.  I kept telling people this stuff is pretty nice!

It was a shame that the glut of inferior makeup tainted people’s perception of Shara Shara, but I think that more and more people are really enjoying Shara Shara skincare products.  Another reason why I love Shara Shara is that most of their products are labeled and list the ingredients in English and if the product is too small, their Korean website has the ingredients listed as text ~ not as a photo image ~ so it is easy to do a translation on the ingredients!  So many Asian sites use images for their ingredient list, and translating is a bitch and three-quarters that way.

I was really happy when Memebox USA came out with a Shara Shara box and it is all skincare.  There was one product that I have been wanting to try for the longest time, but could never really justify it in my mind ~ hint:  it is HUGE and it would take me years to finish.  I did purchase this box, which is now sold out at Memebox.

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.  If you are new to Memebox, you use my referral link here and get 20% off your first order of $25.00 or more!

Informational Card

Berry Berry Waterful Cleansing Sherbet   I am pretty excited to try this product, but I will have to wait for a replacement.  I tell you why further down. This is a cleansing balm and I love my current cleansing balm, Banila Clean It Zero.  This is very similar to that balm, only with a very sweet berry scent.   The texture looks to be the same too.  I was shocked when I first tried Banila Clean It Zero, as with my oily skin, I avoided products like this in the past.  I did not experience any issues with Banila ~ no breakouts, clogged pores ~ so I am a big lover of their cleansing balm.

I did not swatch Shara Shara Berry Berry cleanser due to the leaking issue that occurred with this product.  Memebox will be sending me a replacement and I will be tossing this one out.   I have the feeling this cleansing sherbet will perform the same as Banila ~ I do prefer Banila’s scent over this one, as I find this to be a tad too sweet for my tastes.  It isn’t awful or anything, but I just like Banila cherry scent better.  Full-Size 75 mL Retail Value $16.00

Description: Indulge in the freshness of berries while freeing your skin from deep-seated dirt! Shara Shara’s Berry Berry Waterful Cleansing Sherbet has several berry extracts which are rich in antioxidants. This effectively cleans the skin and removes impurities to be able to improve the skin’s overall condition. It thoroughly melts makeup and scoops out dirt to get rid of skin troubles such as whiteheads and blackheads.

Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-12 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract,  Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract (200mg/100g), Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract (200mg/100g), Water, Butylene Glycol, Red No. 4 (CI 14700), Fragrance, Acid Red 33 (CI 17200) analysis

Why am I tossing this product out?  It was leaking.  So what, right?  Well, it didn’t leak on the way from San Fran to Boston ~  The box was all oily from the leaked product but my Memebox and the rest of the products there were not oily at all.  The tissue that cradled this balm didn’t have any of the leaked product on it nor was it grease stained.   Which leads me to believe that this product leaked elsewhere, not on transit to me.  Probably from Korea to the US.   You can see in the above photo that a lot of product is missing ~ where did it go?

The second protective lid is stuck to the main lid ~ It won’t come off.  Usually, these secondary lids are there to act as an additional protection barrier to keep your product hygienically clean and you can lift it off the jar.   This is stuck to the lid and you can see it is not even flat to the lid, but rippled.    I don’t want to use this as I have no idea how long this product had been “leaking” and gawd knows if it is even safe to use.  This is going on my face, for crying out loud, so I am not putting it there based on my observations here.  I may be over-reacting, probably am, but since I have no idea when the leak started, I have no idea what was brewing here.

Kissing Sugar Lip Scrub OMG sheeee’sssss  baaaaack!  This is the constipated creepy doll face from the infamous My Cute Wishlist #3 Box!  I loathed that box with a passion ~ haha ~ Shara Shara unfortunately had products in that box, including the lip scrub featured here as well, along with the axe-murderer bumpits wearing sunscreen dolly.

I will use the photo from that unboxing to show you want it looked like, and yes, I did sample it first before taking the photo. I have a really bad habit of doing that!!   I want to save this one for trade or gift/giveaway, as I prefer the traditional grainy sugar scrubs.   This does smell nice, like brown sugar vanilla, and has lots of nice ingredients, honey, avocado oil, argan kernel oil, mango seed oil with grains of sugar and walnut shells.  It isn’t waxy, like the Pure Smile lipscrubs, but it is still too creamy for me.  I wish Memebox would carry the Aida Vita Sugar Lip Scrub, which I received in the Smile Care Memebox. That was a great lip scrub with a lovely citrus scent.   I guess I will continue to make my own lip scrubs!   Full Size 10 g Value $8.00

Product Description:  Natural scrub such as sweet sugar grain and walnut peel powder.  Takes care of dead skin on lip thoroughly to create soft lips. Honey extract and shea butter offer enriches nourishment to lips and tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E) protects.   Vegetable oil such as avocado oil and argan tree kernel oil help take care of lips and create a moisture barrier on them.

Ingredients: Black Strap (Molasses/Sugar) Powder, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Mica, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polybutene, Mineral Oil, Microcrystalline Wax, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ceresin, Petrolatum, Sorbitan Olivate, Octocrylene, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Fragrance, BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene), Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Juglans Regia (Walnut) Shell Powder, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Honey Extract, Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol analysis

Black Source Eye Sunglass   I received these before ~ in my MaskGenie pouch earlier this year.  These are a fun novelty item, not something I would do a repeat purchase on purpose.  You can cover your eyes with the flaps and they look like “sunglasses”.   Of course, I never relax when I have masks on, so I need my eyes to see!  haha  These are cute and if you haven’t tried them and get a chance, I do recommend them.  These have Lychee and Guava fruit extract, which are high in Vitamin C and along with niacinamide, it helps brighten your skin around your eyes.  These are soaked with essence, so if you do use the flaps, try not to open your eyes, otherwise you will get a lot of product in your eyes.   Full-Size 8g Retail Value $3.00

Ingredientswater, glycerin, butylene glycol, niacinamide, alcohol, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane, dimethicone, dimethicone/PEG-10/15 crosspolymer, xanthan gum, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, panthenol, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, hydroxyethylcellulose, triethanolamine, carbomer, disodium EDTA, allantoin, glycine soya (soybean) seed extract, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed extract, oryza sativa (rice) extract, psidium guajava (guava) fruit extract, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, litchi chinensis fruit extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract,  hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, adenosine, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, methylparaben, phenoxyethanol, fragrance analysis

Honey Bomb All in One Ampoule This was the product I really really wanted to try and have never had the courage or will to purchase it ~ first off, it is HUGE.   I have to use it within a year and I never can use a 3 in 1 product ~ I mean, why follow a K-Beauty skincare routine then?  I don’t like multi-use products that much either as they never seem to work properly on my face.   Second, the price ~ yes, $30.00 isn’t that bad, but for a product that I haven’t even tried a sample on, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to purchase something like this and then be STUCK with it or toss it if it didn’t work out.   So, when I saw this box with this product in it, I knew I could justify the price tag (plus I had some Memepoints, so that made the deal sweeter..)

Now that I have it in my hot little hands, I don’t want to open it, cause once I open it, the expiration date starts ticking away.  It is the wrong time of the year ~ I need cooler months for this type of honey product as I do not have dry skin.   I also have the feeling that I will be using it from head to toe, seriously.  My body is getting da bomb treatment this winter!     I also think that if you purchase cotton sheet masks because you like to make your own facial sheet masks or use cotton pads/gauze, you can soak the cotton in this thick gel, apply and leave on your face for 20 ~ 30 minutes ~ a DIY facial mask!    Since I am not opening it right away, I figure I would mention a few of the notable ingredients:

  • Kava-Kava (Piper Methysticum)  ~ This ingredient has anti-inflammatory properties
  • Black Hoof Mushroom (Phenllinus Linteus) ~ This mushroom has been used for centuries for  its healing properties.   It is an anti-aging ingredient, due to its antioxidants.
  • Burdock (Arctium Lappa) ~ Burdock is an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacertial and antioxidant, which aids in soothing, healing blemishes as well as being an anti-aging ingredient.
  • Honey ~ This product contains 0.1% of honey extract and it is a natural humectant, which means it can attract and retain moisture, keeping skin hydrated and prevent drying.  It also is an antioxidant and has anti-bacterial properties, to help with combating and healing free radical damage.
  • Royal Jelly ~ Adds in renewal of skin cells and tissue repair, due to the vitamins and minerals such as  B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, acetyl-choline and zinc.  There are studies that show that Royal Jelly help aid in collagen production.
  • Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) contains vitamins C, A and E, beta carotene, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids.  Vitamin C is important for brightening and stimulating collagen production.  It contains 200 to 800 times more vitamins than apples.  Sea Buckthorn is known for its antioxidant properties to help slow down aging and to regenerate new skin cells, while penetrating deep into your derma layer and locking moisture inside.

This was randomly selected from the Honey or Berry Bomb, and when I read the ingredient list at Memebox, I was hoping at that time to NOT get the Honey Bomb….Memebox had rose extracts in the Honey Bomb ingredient list.  But Memebox has been wrong more times than not with their “ingredient” list and it turns out that the Honey Bomb doesn’t contain rose extracts..happy dance!

Memebox did have all three All in One Ampoules at their site:  Honey, Berry and Aqua, for individual sale.  It seems that the Berry Bomb is the only one left.  I don’t think there is that much difference between these products.  I do think Shara Shara should make this product in a smaller size 😉  Full-Size 250 mL Retail Value $30.00

Water Girls Ice Cream This is a really lovely hydrating cream that smells like eucalyptus and I love it!  I am using this as a sleep pack, as that is how Memebox is description this product.  I don’t think I could ever use it as a daytime moisturizer,  as it is a bit too rich for my oily skin and I would be shining like a beacon, showing the way home ~ haha!   I do store it in the frig, and wow, it is so refreshing on my skin.  There is something so familiar about this cream and it reminds me of belif Aqua Bomb.  In fact, it smells pretty darn similar too!  I did a side by side comparison below to see what the differences were.  I had my belif sample with me nearby, so I used that for the comparison.  Before I get to that, there are some nice ingredients in the Water Girls Ice Cream:

  • Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) is an intensive moisturizing ingredient which bonds water to keep skin hydrated.   It is a natural substance found in the human body and it made up of amino and uronic acids, and helps retain 100 to 1,000 times its own water weight in our skin cells
  • Chlorella Vulgaris  ~ This algae extract is known for its anti-aging benefits as it contains carotenoids, and amino acids (lysine, proline, glycine, alanine) which will help smooth out the surface of your skin.  It also aids in the production of collagen and firm your skin.
  • Hydrolyzed Collagen ~ Deeply moisturizes the skin.
  • Panthenol is derived from plants and this ingredient comes from Vitamin B5.  Panthenol is a natural humectant, which retains moisture and hydrates the skin.  It also is a good lubricant on the skin, making skin look soft and smooth.  It is also an anti-inflammatory
  • Eucalyptus Globulus is known for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties, as well as for aromatherapy

Full-Size 50 mL Retail Value $18.00

Left: Shara Shara Water Girls Ice Cream     Right: belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

Swatches below 1 is Belif and 2 is Shara Shara.  Outside of a visual and scent similarity, the ingredient list and the texture of the products are quite different.   Belif is more of a watery cream and doesn’t have a heavy feeling on my skin.  Shara Shara is more blue in the jar, whereas belif is an aqua shade, but they both show up as white gels on the skin.   They have very similar scents, belif is more spicy than Shara Shara.   Shara Shara is more heavy and dense than belif and has a slower absorption rate on my skin and it also leaves behind a film on my face, which is why it is a sleeping pack!  I was just struck at the initial similarities visually and scent wise with these two products and that is why I had to compare them.

This was a darn good curated Shara Shara box.  Memebox included something for just about every body part ~ facial cleanser, lips, eyes, sleeping pack and a very popular ampoule that can be used from the top of your head to your tippy toes (I know that is what is going to happen with my Honey Bomb!!)    This box was $33.00 and I received a Memevalue of $75.00.  The Shara Shara Box is currently sold out, but you should check back often at Memebox, as they might restock it.   If you add it to your wish list, I have been told that they do track those and popular items in the wish list are taken in consideration to restock 😀

Did you purchase the Shara Shara Box and what did you think of it?   Any favorite products?

  1. 😋 That Shara Shara box looks amazing! I saw another blog post from Tracy at who did a review of the box that had the same issue with the leakage from the same Shara Shara product. I guess it couldn’t handle the heat but the Shara Shara packaging probably wasn’t secure enough either, who knows? Such a cute box too! I’m glad memebox gave a replacement because it seems like a good cleanser to try :p

    1. I think the product leaked from South Korea to the USA because other than the cleansing box, there was no leakage elsewhere in the big pink box or greasy oily stains. I hoping that my replacement won’t have the same problem!!

  2. I wish I’d gotten this box! I really would have liked the non-leaking version of the cleanser, the huge Honey ampoule which looks so much different from any other ampoule I’ve gotten and seems really nice, and the ice night cream.
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that the reviews have slowed down so much for Memeboxes that they are almost always sold out by the time I have an idea whether it would be a good choice for my sensitive, non- troubled skin.
Your review is great. I love the references to the old Shara Shara scary face products. I found that lip scrub unopened in a drawer this week. I shuddered briefly. I have no idea why I kept it, unopened and staring.

  3. I agree that the All In One Ampoule products aren’t really everything in one (that kind of product is never great anyway)! I prefer to think of the All In One concept as meaning that the product can fill any step of your routine (except cleansers and actives). Like, they’re watery enough to use as a Hada Labo-style hydrating toner or essence, but they have so many beneficial ingredients that they do qualify as a serum or ampoule. They work nicely as sleeping masks and I think for people with oily skin or in very humid environments, they could even replace moisturizing lotion. So it can be whatever you want it to be!

(I own a lot of these! They make fantastic body moisturizer, too!)

          1. Hehe we just sit quietly in the corner and watch unboxings! But I do miss memeboxes but still have loads of leftover k-beauty products.
There are some very good boxes such as this Shara Shara one. Which DEFINITELY tickle most ppl fancy!
