Beauteque Curate-A-Collection with A Newly Minted Sub Addict: Nautical and Nice Unboxing!

Beauteque ran a Curate-A-Collection contest earlier this year and three bloggers were chosen for the honor of curating a bag.   My bag was released last week, The Fresh Citrus Fix (only 2 left, last time I checked) and now the second collection has been released ~ my fellow beauty blogger and friend, Kristen over at A Newly Minted Sub Box Addict.   Next week, Priyanka at Glamour & Giggles will be releasing her collection ~ pretty exciting!  Beauteque sent me Kristen’s collection and I received it the other day ~ It is a winner!  She picked an aquatic theme and I love my seaweed-y products.    And how cute is the name of the collection ~ very clever with the play on words ~ Nautical and Nice!

Nature Republic Hawaiian Seaweed Pack Peel Off   I actually got this a couple of months ago and I really like it a lot!  I have to find the full size tube, as I find this to be a really nice peel off mask.  I reviewed it then, so I will repeat my review here and post the pics of the used product too.  This peel off skin purification pack contains marine collagen-enriched seaweed and micro fine grains to scrub and remove dirt and dead skin cells.  This is a mild peel off mask and it provides hydration while removing dirt and dead skin cells from your skin, brightening your skin tone.   Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes and then peel off.   I would say that this mask is for oily skin or oily to normal combo skin.  I am not sure it should be used if you have dry skin.  I used this already and I can say that the scent has a strong alcohol smell to it, which isn’t surprising, since alcohol is the 3rd ingredient.    It is a translucent olive color with little bits of exfolitating grains and is quite sticky to get on, which is normal for peel off masks.   After 20 minutes, I removed the mask, which now had dried down but it wasn’t uncomfortable ~ sometimes peel off masks can tighten on the skin so much that it is painful.  My skin is very smooth, not dried out ~ in fact when I removed the patch on my hand, I noticed how hydrated it was compared to the rest of my hand ~ and my skin looks brighter.    Despite the initial alcohol scent, which disappeared quickly, I really like this peel off mask.    8 mL Value $4.50

Innisfree Sea Salt Whipping Cleanser  Innisfree makes 3 different versions of their sea salt cleanser, all made with Jeju salt

image from
  • Sea Salt Perfect Cleanser (40%) ~  This is their classic exfoliating foaming cleanser. It has grains of sea salt (40%)  for exfoliation.   This is considered the “scrub” of the line
  • Sea Salt Whipping Cleanser (30%) ~ This has a whipped cream texture and has less sea salt (30%),  yet it still has the grains of salt.
  • Sea Salt Jelly Cleanser (20%) ~ This is the gentlest of the 3 cleansers with only 20% sea salt and foams up

This collection contains Sea Salt Whipping Cleanser and it is a very creamy cleanser, lathers up nicely and I can feel the salt grains on my face.  It has a silky texture, but does do a little gentle exfoliating as the salt dissolves.  I did do a pH test on this cleanser and it is closer to an 8 than 7.   My skin can tolerate a higher pH level than most and this one does not irritate or strip my skin nor does it have a strong scent ~ it is very clean and fresh.   You should keep this cleanser away from your eyes, because of the salt content.   If you have very sensitive skin, you might wish to use this as a gentle body cleanser.  The sea salt line is fairly new as it was launched this year in April

Sea salt cleansing line is rich in sea salt extracts that remove flaky dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, as well as any dirt and fine dust clogging the pores to give clean and smooth skin. Plus, it has a high mineral content to moisturize and protect the skin after washing.

Innisfree Sea Salt Cleansing line comes in three types: Perfect, Whipping and Jelly. Sea salt perfect cleanser (130ml) with 40% sea salt extract gives a powerful scrub effect that thoroughly removes dead skin cells and cleanses the pores inside out with a fresh finish.

“Sea salt extracts rich in minerals are excellent at moisturizing the skin, with salt grains allowing gentle, mild scrubbing,” said Team Manager Shim Hye-ji from the Innisfree Product Development Team. “It also protects the skin from yellow dust and fine dust that can appear with the change in seasons, while leaving the skin as smooth and moist as if you had just applied a face mask.”

Skinfood Seaweed Mineral Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick   You can choose either beige (#01) or honey (#03)  ~ I received beige and it is a lovely shimmery neutral shade with a hint of pink.  This is a cream stick and it has been really hot out here in the Northeast, so the product did separate from the tube.  I just gently pushed it back in and then placed the stick in the frig overnight to “firm” up and it is good to go now.  The other side has a big sponge tip, which helps you smudge it.  I actually use this product under my eyebrow and ontop of my cheek bones as a highlighter.  It is very subtle and it is not glittery at all!  This is waterproof, which is good during these hot, muggy days.  Full Size 1.5 g Value $9.99

Ingredients: cyclopentasiloxane, isododecane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, polyethylene, titanium dioxide (CI 77891), mica (CI 77091), synthetic fluorphlogopite, synthetic wax, ceresin, C12-15 alkyl ethylhexanoate, phenyl trimethicone, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, ferric oxide (CI 77491), disteardimonium hectorite, propylene carbonate, carmine (CI 75470), tin oxide (CI 77861), black oxide of iron (CI 77499)

Mizon Seaweed Jelly Scrub   I have used this before and I love it!  The first time I purchased it, I thought it was a body scrub ~ but it is a facial scrub.  It is very gentle on your skin and the texture is fun!  It is very jellyfish-like, because of the konjac vegetable fibers ingredient.  You all know about konjac ~ you probably have a konjac sponge.

This is a versatile ingredient ~ it can be used a sponge, in beauty products and is edible too!  It is a fibrous product that is very gelatinous when wet.  Its main ingredient is seaweed, which is rich in minerals and vitamins, and it not only exfoliates, but is an anti-inflammatory, helping reduce the appearance of pores and prevent acne.   This is very gentle, but does clean out the dirt, oil and dead skin cells.   Just apply to your face and massage for 1 to 2 minutes, then rinse off.  This product doesn’t contain the following ingredients or chemicals:  paraben,  GMO,  benzyl alcohol, silicon,  animal products,  mineral oil,  phenoxyethanol,  artificial coloring,  benzophenone,  sorbic acid,  talc,  sulfate,  triclosan,  synthetic antioxidant,  benzalkonium chloride or imidazolidinyl urea.  The pH level of this product is 6 (yeah!)  Sorry, I did the pH testing a while ago, when I first purchased this and lost the photo!

The konjac is swollen as it is immersed in a liquid base, which is why it has that jellyfish texture and this also contains amber(!) to help exfoliate, with the fine grains of rice and seaweed (see the little bits in the jelly?)   This has an herbaceous, green scent, which is very pleasant and this is one of my favorite fun scrubs out there on the market, because it is so gentle.  I could exfoliate with this daily!  It leaves my skin very hydrated and moist, with no dry feeling.   I truly recommend this scrub for all skin types, so long you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in the product.   Full Size 120 mL Value $14.50

Ingredients:  Water, glycerin, butylene glycol, sodium polyacrylate, oryza sativa (rice) powder, sodium hyaluronate, sapindus mukurossi fruit extract, caulerpa lentillifera extract (seaweed 60ppm), glucomannan (konjac 100 ppm), amber powder, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf powder, undaria pinnatifida powder (seaweed 10ppm), salicylic acid, polysorbate 60, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, methyl chloro isothiazolinone, xanthan gum, methyl isothiazolinone, chlorphenesin, 1,2-hexanediol, fragrance analysis

What a fun collection!  I am really happy with this box, because I really love ingredients like seaweed, salt and pearl extracts.  Some of my favorite Memeboxes were of the Aquatic theme!  Kristen did a fantastic job with this collection ~ Mizon Seaweed Jelly Scrub is a favorite of mine and I was really happy that she had it in here!  I also really like the Innisfree Salt cleanser ~ I had been looking at it to purchase on my own and now I have it 🙂 You can purchase Nautical and Nice at for $29.00 plus shipping/handling and it has a Beauteque Value of $50.97.  Beauteque does ship internationally to Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore.

  1. I’m so glad you liked it! Thank you so much for the positive review. 😊 I really tried to include a variety of products since that’s what I personally look for when I pick up bags. I love your idea of using the eye shadow stick as a highlighter. I hadn’t considered that but it would work amazingly well.
