Unboxing Summer 2015 Jouer Le Matchbox!

This is my second box from the quarterly subscription by Jouer cosmetics, Le Matchbox.  The first ever box was the Spring version, which I really loved.    It was valued at $150.00 and I felt that it was the perfect makeup sub for me ~ comes out quarterly and features makeup by a company that I really love.

What is Jouer Le Matchbox

A quarterly beauty subscription box, tailored just for you. No more guessing which colors are right, Jouer delivers the perfect products right to your doorstep. Each selection is determined by responses to our quiz, providing you with an assortment of full size Jouer essentials most flattering for your coloring and suitable for your skin type. Each curated box is accompanied by a mini magazine providing product details and application tips. Jouer delivers the most advanced skincare benefits, effortlessly luxurious colors, in smart on-the-go packaging. Whether you’re an experienced makeup artist, a makeup addict or need an uncomplicated way to select the right formulas and shades for effortless beauty, Le Matchbox is for you.

Jouer walks you through a little quiz to help you determine your skin tone ~ cool or warm ~ and you can then subscribe for $45.00 per quarter (it automatically renews) or a one time $65.00 box.  You can select from cool, warm or let Jouer choose for you.     Interested?  You can subscribe here  Make sure you register FIRST before you order, however, as they do have a glitch in their system.   Also, I find that if you need customer service, it is better to call their toll-free number instead of using email.

I am warm toned, so my box is the warm toned version.  There is a cool tone version as well.  All swatches are at the end of the blog post.   The box is different this time around ~ it reminds me of a Glossy Box, which isn’t bad, but the Spring box was so much better.

This box also came with a nice pamphlet, explaining the products and even listing out the ingredients at the back of the booklet.

Lip Sheer SPF 15 in Lanai   Lanai is a new shade for Jouer and it is described as a sheer coral peach.   Well… I am not a fan of orange lippies and just because I am warm toned, doesn’t mean that they look good on me.  They normally do not.  Fortunately, this is so sheer, it doesn’t matter.  This is just a lightly tinted lip balm with SPF and it goes on smoothly and has a nice slick feel to it.   This will be fine for me when I go outside to walk around in the sun.    I would have rather gotten one of their older shades, like Positano (sheer berry wine) or St. Topez (sheer shimmering bronze nude).  I will be emailing Jouer to let them know that warm toned does not mean orange shades.  There are many beautiful shades out there, from berry to browns to reds, that are made for warm skin tones.     Full Size .10 oz  $24.00

Description: Beautifully sheer and moisturizing, Jouer Lip Sheer SPF 15 is loaded with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to lock in moisture and assist in keeping lips smooth, nourished and protected.

Ingredients:  octinoxate 6%, oxybenzone 2% inactive ingredients: ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, isostearyl palmitate, glyceryl triacetyl ricinoleate, beeswax, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, ozokerite, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, squalane, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, polyethlene, fragrance, tocopheryl acetate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, propylparaben, retinyl palmitate, glycine soJa (soybean) seed extract, ceramide 2. may contain (+/-): titanium dioxide (ci 77891), mica (ci 77019), iron oxides (ci 77491, 77492, 77499), red 7 lake (ci 15850:1), yellow 5 lake (ci 19140), red 6 lake (ci 15850), d&c red mix c6710, blue 1 lake (ci 42090:2), red 27 lake (ci 45410:1), manganese violet (ci 77742)

Mineral Powder Bronzer in Suntan   I own Jouer’s mattifying bronzer in Sunswept (matte honey) and was worried that this might be too similar in color.  This one is lighter and more of a pale chocolate brown, so it isn’t the same and is described as a matte honey bronze.   Sunswept has a bit of peach in it, so when swatched next to each other, you can see it is more orange based.   I really am happy with the suntan color.  This is an oil-free mineral bronzer that has a matte finish.  It contains Japanese Green Tea powder and Vitamins C & E for antioxidant protection from free radicals.    I use my bronzers for light contouring, so they last forever.   Full Size 7 grams Value $30.00

Ingredients: talc, mica, dimethicone, hdi/trimethylol hexyllactone crosspolymer, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, zinc stearate, undecylenoyl glycine, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, capryloyl glycine, caprylic/capric triglyceride, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, lauroyl lysine, silica, topaz, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, quartz, pearl powder, water, ethoxydiglycol, barium sulfate, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, potassium sorbate, phenoxyethanol, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hexylene glycol, gold, caprylyl glycol, bht, fulvic acid, palmitoyl hexapeptide-14. may contain (+/-): red 7 lake (ci 15850), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 7499).

Cheek/Lip Tint in Petal  This is a sample size, which I was very surprised to see in this box.  However, I’ve owned Jouer’s cheek & lip tints and they do last a long time.  This is perfect to tuck in your purse, at your desk, in a small case, your laptop case ~ for quick touch-ups.   Petal is described as soft rose pink,  but I feel that it has a bit of peach in it, as it seems more on the coral side than pink.   I am fine with this, as I love peach blushes.  This is also a lip tint, so it can be used for both cheeks and lips.    Deluxe Size 1 g grams Value $11.00

Ingredients:  ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, isopropyl myristate, petrolatum, beeswax (cera alba), paraffin, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, stearoxymethicone/dimethicone copolymer, trioctyldodecyl citrate, ozokerite, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isostearyl behenate, polyethylene, kaolin, biotite, bht, propylparaben. may contain(+/-): mica, titanium dioxide (ci 77894), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499), red 7 lake (ci 15850:1), red 27 (ci 45410:1), carmine (ci 75470).

Crème Eyeshadow in Cashmere  I was hoping for a powder eyeshadow.  Creme eyeshadow means having to always use an eyelid primer/base to make it long lasting.   That said, this is a beautiful shade, which is a shimmering golden taupe, I was pretty surprised and happy how deep and rich this color is.  It is like a burnished antique gold and it is really lovely.  I will gladly wear this with primer!   Full Size 2.5 g Value $22.00

Description: Lightweight in texture with a velvety finish, these subtle shimmers can be worn alone as a shadow, layered to illuminate the eye, or smudged along lash line to create natural definition. The soft-blending formula ensures easy fingertip application.

Ingredients: isopropyl palmitate, phenyl trimethicone, caprylic/capric triglyceride, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, kaolin, nylon-12, microcrystalline wax, silica, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, dimethicone, tocopheryl acetate, bht, vegetable oil (zea mays), propylparaben. may contain (+/-): mica, titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499) carmine (ci 75470), chromium oxide greens (ci 77288)

Everyday Effortless Mascara in Brun   The dreaded mascara.   I have my own favorites in mascara and I don’t like the natural look ~ haha.  I like big volumized lashes, and this one won’t do it for me.  Plus, it is in BROWN.  Why?  Cause I am warm skin toned?  Hello, no.  When dealing with mascara colors of brown and black, you should get to the color of your lashes or darker.  Brun is for blondes and redheads.  I have black eyelashes.  Warm toned doesn’t mean sending me brown mascara.   Full Size 0.19 fl oz  Value $24.00

My Le Matchbox items

  1. Cheek/Lip Tint in Petal
  2. Crème Eyeshadow in Cashmere
  3. Lip Sheer SPF 15 in Lanai
  4. Mineral Powder Bronzer in Suntan
  5. Mattifying Powder Bronzer in Sunswept ~ this is my bronzer that I owned prior, not included in this box, but swatched so you can see the color difference

This box is definitely not the same value as the  Spring box.   When I first heard of the colors in the Summer box for warm skin tone, I wasn’t sure that I would like them.  However, after swatching them, I found that they do work nicely and since the lip balm is really sheer, I do not mind an orange lippie.  I feel that this box is missing something, perhaps a makeup tool or one of their cute bags.   When the boxes first started to ship out, the value was still the old spring value of $150.00 at their site.   They have updated to state $110.00, but that was only after I called them and brought it to their attention.

I will use everything except the mascara, so I do feel that I came ahead (way ahead) in terms of value vs what I paid for it.    I paid $45.00 for this box and the total value is $111.00.    I do hope that the Fall box will have more items in it and no peach/coral lipsticks!

Did you get the Summer 2015 Jouer Le Matchbox?  What colors did you get?  Are you happy with the products?
