Unboxing Beauty

As many of you who read my Memebox unboxings will know, I happen to love Secret Key skincare products.  It is a very inexpensive brand that delivers beautifully for me.   Memebox, before they shut down the global shop, offered a really nice “Valentine” inspired Secret Key Value Set ~  Secret Key Premium Red Edition.   This box contains a few products that I had wanted to try and some that I have already tried and liked.  So, without further ado, here is my unboxing of Secret Key Premium Red Edition!

Super Plumping Jelly Cream   I’ve been reading a lot of good things about this cream ~ such as it is instant “botox” for your face.  It is made with a variety of “superfood” extracts, such as broccoli,  blueberry, pumpkin and orange, which are full of anti-oxidants and will help with reducing the appearance of wrinkles.   It also has salmon roe (fish eggs, caviar), beta-glucan and niacinamide, which are anti-aging and brightening ingredients.  This has a jelly texture and will “remember” its shape after you scoop out the cream.  However, I did notice that the second ingredient in this cream is denat. alcohol, so that doesn’t sound too good to me.  I will save this for the hot summer months, when my face is really oily.   It is okay, because I have the oil in this box and you will discover why I am more excited about that product than the jelly cream.   Full size 50 mL  Retail Value $38.40

Super Plumping Gel Oil  I couldn’t transcribe all of the ingredients, but I did take notice that alcohol, while it is in this product, is 7th ingredient in the list so that makes me feel better about using this gel oil.  It really isn’t oily, and is more like a gel-cream.  It is a very light opaque pink gel, with no strong scent and it absorbs quickly into my skin.  I’ve been using this for the last couple of days and been targeting my elevenses area and it does seem to plump up the skin there and make those || less noticeable.  This gel oil might wind up to be a favorite ~ time will tell!  This is also made with superfoods and anti-aging, brightening ingredients as well.  Full size 30 mL Retail Value $42.00

Berry Milk Hand Cream   I received this in my other Secret Key Holiday Value Set and I really like this hand cream.  It is made with donkey milk and  3 types of berry extracts ~ raspberry, blueberry and blackberry ~  which will moisturize and smooth your hands as well as hyaluronic acid which acts as a protection layer to trap moisture in and collagen, which enhances moisture and skin elasticity.   This hand cream is not sticky or heavy, absorbs quickly and has no fragrance from what I can tell.  I am glad I got another one of these as I am almost done with my original Berry Milk Hand Cream.     Full Size 60 mL Retail Value $8.40

Starting Treatment Eye Cream  I have Secret Key’s Starting Treatment essence and Starting Treatment Aura Facial Spray and I do like it a lot.  This eye cream contains:  galactomyces,  along shea butter, macadamia seed oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, aloe vera, camomile, centella, green tea, witch hazel, jojoba seed oil and ginseng extracts ~ and  will smooth out wrinkles, while lifting and firming the skin around your eyes, while reducing the appearance of dark circles.  I really like the Starting Treatment line and am glad to try out a cream in this line, as I have only used the facial mist and essence.  Full size 30 g Retail Value $26.40

Sweet Glam Tint Glow in Fuchsia Purple   Okay, let’s get something straight.  There is no way that any store is selling this lip tint for $33.60, which is what Memebox had put their value on this.  You can pick this up for under $10.00, so the retail value should be more like $15.00.   Anyway, this is a lovely sheer wash of purple and I love this shade.   However, some Memecustomers who received their box before I did noticed the expiration date has passed by a few weeks!  I checked mine out and yep, it expired on January 6th, 2015!  Well, I am sure I’ve used other lip products way past their prime and after they were opened!  It doesn’t smell rancid and the color is not off, so I am going to use it (and I have!)   This tint is made with lanolin, so if you are allergic to that, you might want to avoid this.  However, I am not allergic to lanolin and this is a lovely tint that is hydrating and very wearable for daily use.    Full size 3.5 g Retail Value $33.60 (no, not really)

Snail + EGF Repairing Masks I received this mask in my January MaskGenie pouch and I really liked it a lot. I found it to be very hydrating and it left my skin feeling moist, without being greasy or sticky.  I am pretty happy to have 3 more of these now.  These masks contain chondroitin sulfate, which is “a major constituent of mucin” (snail slime)…and “restores damaged skin and keeps it soft, supple and healthy”  The only downside to these masks is that I found it really did not cover my nose all the way and I do not have a long nose!   3 sheets Retail Value $7.20

A little bonus….

I really love Secret Key products, but one of the issues I have with their product line is finding the translation online for their ingredients.   Some companies, like Shara Shara and Tonymoly, will have their ingredient list in Korean, but it is in text, so I can translate it.   Photo translations still have a long way to go, and with some of these long lists of ingredients, it takes hours to translate it, as I am not at all versed in Korean.  All of the products that are here translated are due to the products being in cosDNA.com database;  some of the products had multiple differing submissions and when I could not determine which one was correct, I did not include it, such as the essence.  However, you can go onto cosDNA.com and search for the products there and research that on your own.

I really enjoyed this box, even though the jelly cream has alcohol as its second ingredient.  The plumping oil just might make it into a future favorite products post and I am looking forward to trying out the eye cream from the Starting Treatment line.  This is a good box for me ~ even though you can find these items much cheaper than the retail value listed, I felt it was worth the money.  This box was $35.00, including shipping and has a MemeValue of $156.00.   This box was really nicely curated, with its “red” theme and I am pleased with its contents.
