Beauteque is a K-Beauty online store, located in the USA.  I have purchased several items, plus I subscribe to their monthly beauty bag and have been very pleased with their service.   Their customer service is top notch.

I have purchased their mystery bags before in the past and have been happy with their contents.  They came out the other week with a New Year New You bag, which had several options and was customizable.

I decided to go for it and purchased the $40.00 bag, selecting oily skin and light tone ~ as I waffle between light and medium.  Also, I knew that was going to be for a BB cream and I don’t use them anyway.

When my bag came last week, I was a bit surprised.  It did have 7 items and the retail value was as stated.  What surprised me was that the big item in there, an Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream,  is not for oily skin, but really dry skin!   When I was able to contact Beauteque, they apologized and offered me two items to replace it and they let me keep the Innisfree, which I will gift 🙂  Pay it forward, it is good karma.  Within 1 business day after responding, I received my replacement items!

So, here is my New Year, New You $40.00 bag reveal, with all items.   Remember, you won’t get as many products, because my bag had an item that was not appropriate for what I had selected.

So, the first set of items are 3 facial sheet masks, valued at about $1.80 each.  They are all made by Humanpia Costech

Bamboo Essence Mask   Description: Bamboo Extract policies and smooths the outer layer of the skin, leaving it fresh and vibrant.

Lioele Lip Color Stick in Rebecca (Cherry)   This is a bright red, very glossy and very pigmented lip color that is in a twist up tube.   It is very creamy and I have had no feathering around my lips with it.  I would say that this does leave a stain behind, as when I rubbed it off my hand, my hand still had the marks of the lip color on it.    It smells like strawberries and is hydrating, as it is made with argan oil and rose hip oil.  I am breaking my “I don’t wear red lip colors” and I will use it.  Retail Value $9.00

Innisfree Green Tea Pure Cleansing Foam  Ohhh, I am excited about this product!  Yeah, I have WAY too many cleansers ~ I think I can go a full 3 years without getting another cleanser, but you know I will get one!  haha  This has a fresh green tea scent to it and it does foam up nicely ~ it is a white, creamy cleanser.   This is a proper cleanser for oily skin, as not only does it remove dead skin cells, but controls oil as well.  It also doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or dry, so it is moisturizing for my skin type.   This cleansing foam has Jeju organic green tea to moisturize, antioxidant ingredients ~ tangerine, orchid, prickly pear ~ and kaolin (clay) to help remove impurities and also has astringent properties.  Full Size 150 mL  Retail Value $7.50

Skin79 Orange Super Beblesh Balm BB Triple Functions I don’t use BB creams, so I won’t be swatching this one.  This is a BB cream that has SPF50+ PA+++ and is also a whitening and wrinkle improvement BB cream.  This one is specially formulated for oily skin, so Beauteque picked a product appropriate for my skin type selection.  Full Size 40 g  Retail Value $24.99

Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Cream As I mentioned earlier, this cream is too heavy for my skin type and really is suited for dry skin;  this one is really for dry and dehydrated skin types.   I would have loved to get the Green Tea Fresh cream, as that is for oily skin, but alas, did not receive.  That said,  Beauteque was quick to respond and send out appropriate replacements and I did find someone who really wanted to try this cream out ~ so, win-win!   This cream is make with 100% green tea water, which contain amino acids and minerals to help hydrate your skin.  It also has green tea sea oil, which help create the moisture barrier on your skin, to keep it hydrated and moisturized.    Full Size 50 mL Retail Value $26.00

Tonymoly AC Control Toner  I actually received two replacements for my Green Tea cream, as the value of each was less by themselves.  This toner contains pine tree (Sciadopitys Verticilaeta) extract, which will help sensitive and reddened skin.   This is also a whitening product that will reduce hyper-pigmentation. Tonymoly AC Control Serum  This is a serum in the same series line as the toner.   I am a little leery of using this serum, due to alcohol being a top ingredient.  I can handle alcohol in my products, due to my oily skin, so I will have to do a patch test and also a sniff test on this product.  I haven’t opened it up yet, as I have several serums currently open.   This product contains tea tree and pine tree extracts that help heal and control acne, reduce oil, tightens pores and has a matte finish when applied to your face.   This serum also has plant extracts ~ sage, centella asiatica, camellia ~ which help keep skin hydrated and collagen and keratin to promote elasticity and firmness.   Full Size 50 mL Retail Value $16.00 ~ $22.00

How do I feel about my New Year, New You bag?   I do like that I did receive some good brands ~ Innisfree, Lioele, Skin79 and Tonymoly.  Even if the Innisfree cream was suitable, I would have been fine with this bag, as I did get the retail value and pretty close to what Beauteque advertised.    I just wish that one facial sheet mask wasn’t considered a “full item” ~ technically it is, but a facial sheet mask is also a one time use item, so stating that 3 one time use items is the same as a jar of facial cream ~ nah.  I paid $40.00, which including shipping (USA only) and the first iteration of my bag was worth $72.89.   With the new replacement products, my bag has a retail value of $78.89 ~ $90.89.

I did read that some customers received items that had expired products ~ make sure it is the expired date and not the manufacturer date.   I did not receive any expired items, so no worries there for me.

Beauteque did send out an email, explaining the bag and also is giving those who purchased it a coupon code for future purchases.   This bag may not have met my expectations and perhaps not yours, but once customers began complaining, Beauteque did listen and is making amends for this bag.

We are sending this email out to you today in regards to the New Year New You order that you had recently placed. We truly value you as a customer, and wanted to touch base with you on the feedback, inquiries, and concerns that we have received the past few days.

First off, we would like to apologize for any type of inconvenience that the New Year New You order might have caused you. We wanted to inform you on the expiration and manufacturing dates and the bag’s value.

Our first concern was about Lioele product’s expiration dates. If you received a Lioele product in your bag the date printed on the box is the manufactured date, and not an expiration date. Lioele products expire 30 months from the manufactured date and once opened are usable for another 12 months. Please see the link below as our source for this information. Some other inquiries that we received in regards to the sheet masks included in the bags. The sheet masks were considered full sized products in the New Year New You bags. We apologize to anyone who felt that the sheet masks weren’t worth the value of the bag. In the future, we keep this in mind if or when sheet masks are included in mystery bags.

Also, please let us know if you feel that the products you received don’t fit your skin type and we will work to find a solution.

The Beauteque team will mail you a gift card in the next week for the inconvenience and confusion that this bag might have caused you.
