Some more Moonshot reviews! This time, I am trying out the latest BB Cushion from Moonshot ~ the Micro Calmingfit BB Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ ~ I also have a bonus review at the end as I wanted you to see the shade differences between 101 and 201 options. Jolse, a premier online KBeauty shop, carries a lot of Moonshot products and they sent me the Micro Calmingfit BB Cushion for review purposes.
Skin Type/Concerns: oily, blemish prone, aging concerns, pores, fine lines/wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation
I received these products complementary to review and was not paid. All reviews are my own honest opinion and I never have been asked to write copy for a brand. Moonshot Micro Calmingfit BB Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ is the latest in a long line of BB cushions from Moonshot. As the name suggests, this is a hypoallergenic calming cushion and will help soothe sensitive and irritated skin. Like all BB cushions, this is a triple function BB cushion ~ brightening with anti-wrinkle benefits as well as protecting skin from UV rays ~ Please ~ always wear sunscreen even if your cushion or foundation has it. This BB cream is a lightweight formula that contains micro-particles and has light to medium coverage that can be built up. It only comes in three shades, as Korean brands really are not responsive to offering a full range of shades. I feel this is a major downfall of Korean BB Cushions and Foundations in general, not just a Moonshot issue. Shade ranges are # 101: Ivory (Bright Ivory 19-23) # 201: Beige (Natural and Soft Beige 22-23) # 301: Honey (Calm Honey 23-24). I choose #101 Bright Ivory ~ For reference, I normally am in between 101 and 201 and wear MAC NW20

This contains three UV filters: one physical blocker ~ titanium dioxide (UVA/UVB) and two chemical blockers ~ ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (UVA/UVB) and ethylhexyl salicylate (UVB). This contains an Aloe Calming Complex, consisting of 4 different aloe vera, providing hydration and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Aloe ferox leaf extract, which soothes and calms the skin
- Aloe barbadensis leaf juice for deep hydration
- Aloe barbadensis leaf extract enhances moisture retention
- Aloe barbadensis leaf polysaccharides for soft and supple skin

Additional hydration is suppled by silica, which is a crucial item when it comes to your skin’s connective tissue, collagen. By stimulating certain cells, silica helps strengthen your collagen and elastin, which in turn will help firm and tone your skin and plump up your skin, so fine lines and wrinkles are not as noticeable.
This also has antioxidant niacinamide, which acts as an anti-inflammatory, improves your skin elasticity, provides pore care, enhances the skin barrier function. Last but not least, it helps to even out skin tone and reduce post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. Yeast derived adenosine provides anti-wrinkle and anti-inflammatory benefits. You will find niacinamide and adenosine in a lot of Korean foundations and BB cushions due to the anti-wrinkle functionality claims.

The antibacterial cushion made from Rubycell has a unique shape ~ a pointy edge to get around the corners of your nose, eyes and mouth while the traditional rounded edge provides ample coverage to cover your face. The compact is compatible with Correctift, Glassyfit and Settingfit Cushion EX refills, but are not compatible with Microfit, Settingfit or Face Perfection Balm Cushion refills.

This is very similar to my Bonus review cushion below ~ The BB cushion’s texture is thin, easy to pat on and adheres nicely to the skin ~ making it a “second skin”. The Calmingfit feels very cooling and refreshing on the skin. I was concerned about the hydration levels and if it would make my skin dewy, but it doesn’t not. The hydration prevents this cushion from caking on the skin, while leaving the skin looking very natural and fresh.
Bare Skin, Calmingfit BB Cushion, Full Makeup
It plays well under makeup and retouches were no problem either, as I could pat over makeup. I found that it wasn’t as long wearing as other BB Cushions, but since it didn’t oxidize or cake upon reapplication, I didn’t mind that as much. One way that I made the coverage last longer was to use Moonshot Micro Correctfit Foundation (review here) first and then apply the Micro Calmingfit BB Cushion for touch ups and reapplication during the day. The Foundation is full coverage, and the BB Cushion is not, so they work really well together.
The shade match was very bright ~ I think I do better in #201, which is a bit more muted, as I felt almost like a ghost at first application. However, I will say that after a few minutes of letting the product settle in, it did tone down a bit with the brightness.
Bonus Review
Moonshot Micro Settingfit BB Cushion EX in 201 Beige (gifted) More Moonshot? Yes, please. I am on a Moonshot foundation streak, and this time with their Micro Settingfit BB EX. I fall between the Pink Ivory (101) and Beige (201), so I decided to go with 201, which is a light beige with warm undertones. I feel this is a better good match for my skin type. The Micro Settingfit is for oily and combo skin ~ dry skinned folks have other cushions from the moonshot line that they can choose from, such as the Glassyfit, Correctfit and Perfection Balm cushions.
Micro Settingfit is a buildable BB, that is more long lasting and has more blurring and coverage than some of the other Moonshot cushions. I found that that it does brighten up the skin, but most BB cushions do that as they are also SPF rated ~ this is SPF50+ PA++++ and it has titanium dioxide as one of the top ingredients. The texture is very thin, so it is easy to pat on, not heavy feeling at all. This looks very much like “skin”, as it is so lightweight & my skin doesn’t feel smothered. I found that I could easily pat away blemishes and spots and it works well over sunscreen and under makeup too. Very long lasting, as I didn’t have to touch up until 5 hours after I applied it and even then, it was just to touch up my nose, chin and forehead.
This has something called Aqua Fit, which means it is very refreshing and cooling as I apply it to my skin & it is non-creasing, not cakey and doesn’t settle in my pores. The BB sponge is also very nice, as it is made from Rubycell, an antibacterial material and the tear drop shape allows me to get into hard to reach areas, such as the sides of my nose & mouth, with the pointy edge. Notable ingredients are
- Four UV filters: Two physical: titanium dioxide (UVA/UVB), zinc oxide(UVA/UVB). Two chemical: ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (UVA/UVB), ethylhexyl salicylate (UVB)
- Niacinamide and adenosine are your anti-wrinkle, brightening ingredients
- Prebiotic plant sugars fructooligosaccharides, glucose and fructose helps keep the skin’s microbiome healthy while providing and locking in hydration
- Centella and chamomile help soothe, heal and calms skin
- Livonia acidissima (wood apple) is an inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial with cooling effects
All in all, I like the wear time, the coverage and the buildability without it caking or turning my skin orange!

Comparisons between 101 and 201 shades ~ 101 is truly brighter looking whereas 201 is more natural looking on my skin tone at first swatch, but then as it is patted out and has a chance to settle in, the shades seem very similar.
