Skinfood has been churning out some new products that I have been lusting over ~ the Freshmade masks have been one of those series where I could just randomly selected any of them and I would be happy.   Jolse, a premier Korean online store,  my bae, allowed me to pick  three of the new Freshmade masks.

There are six Freshmade masks

They are all 90 mL and under $10.00 USD .   I chose Lemon, Pineapple and this one, Apple as my Freshmade selections.

Description: Fresh made, fresh ingredient, fresh soothing care system.  A wash-off mask containing a whole ground apple that calms flaky keratin and instantly provides hydration and radiance to skin

Ingredients

Pyrus Malus (apple) is a vitamin-rich, anti-aging ingredient that contains antioxidants, promote cell health, moisturizes and helps heal sun-damaged skin.  It is a natural astringent and can reduce the appearance of pores, as it can tighten the skin.  Apple is contains AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and will gently exfoliate your skin, unclogging pores and removing dead skin cells, dirt and excess oil.  It will help make your skin brighter and smoother.  Apple fruit extracts are perfect for oily skin and blemish prone skin types, aging skin, dull and uneven skin tones.

Honey has antibacterial properties, that can speed up healing in your skin ~ think acne, rashes, cuts ~ and prevent additional infection. The wonderful texture of honey will keep moisture close to your skin, which makes for a glowing and radiant complexion. Not only does honey keep moisture in your skin, but it is humectant, which means it attracts moisture too! Honey is also an antioxidant, which means it helps repair and combat any damage caused by free radicals and prevents premature wrinkling.

This also has some hydrating ingredients of glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and aloe vera ~ these also attract moisture into your skin.   Squalane penetrates and absorbs rapidly into your skin and has anti-oxidant properties, helping prevent UV damage and hyper-pigmentation age spots, helps cellular growth and is an anti-bacterial. This is an excellent moisturizing ingredient.

These masks come in a cute “jam” jar packaging that would look right at home with the rest of my jams and jellies!    Tere is a safety seal so you know if it has been tampered with or not.

This wash off mask contains one whole apple ~ 401 ppm ~ all ground up ~ you can actually see the bits of apple pulp in the translucent honey colored jelly.   The mask is a very runny mask ~ very liquid-gel and it smells like warm apples ~ let me explain.  A fresh apple smells like granny smith apples ~ bright, sparkling, crisp and cool. Warm apples are like fall ~ think of an apple that is just picked off the tree in the fall season ~  warm, sweet and ripe, a smell that makes you want to make homemade applesauce.  It has bits of apple pulp in it that you can actually see and it actually tastes sweet ~ I tasted it by accident ~ it plopped down my face and into my mouth ~ honest!  I would not recommend actually making a culinary dish around this, however.

I did put this in the frig overnight and tried it again ~ the jelly did thicken up a little bit, but really not a lot of difference.  Just be prepared to deal with a mask that will plop off your face if you apply it too thickly.  Gently massage the mask on your face as you apply it and then leave on for at least 15 minutes.

As you can see below, this is not a mask that stays put on your face!  However, it smells so good and feels good, in a sticky way.   I left my mask on for 30 minutes and it doesn’t really dry down ~ it gets a bit gummy as it dries, but it is still easy to rinse off with warm water.  My face felt smooth, soft, very clean and moisturized.

Final Thoughts

I know that not everyone likes wash off jelly masks and feel that they do not do much of anything.  It is true that I have found some wash off jelly masks to be useless other than hydrating, but other wash off mask packs have helped my skin in terms of reducing redness, soothing, moisturizing and so on.  Skinfood Freshmade Apple mask is in the latter category for me ~ I felt that it moisturized my skin, leaving it clean, soft and very smooth.  I like the small bits of apple pulp in the mask, as when I massage it initially during application and then as I rinse it off, I feel that it is is helping dislodge excess dirt from my skin.  Apple extracts are really good for my oily skin and I also love that there is honey in here, as honey is also a great ingredient for all skin types, due to its wonderful skincare benefits.   This mask gets my seal of approval and I hope that I like the other two masks I received just as much!  Have you tried any of the Freshmade series from Skinfood?  Which ones did you try or which ones do you want to try?

You can purchase Skinfood Freshmade Apple Mask at Jolse,  as well as the other five varieties, for $9.33 USD.   Jolse also has free shipping and gives lots of samples too when you place an order with them.

  1. This review came in the right time, though I wonder whether you have tried lemon and pineapple as well, as I’m aiming for them. I’m really interested in your thoughts. Thanks.
