Unboxing January 2016 On Trend Korean Beauty BirchBox

After looking at the PYS choices that Birchbox decided to offer for January 2016, I went with a safe bet ~ the Curated Box whose theme is “On Trend Korean Beauty“.   Yeah, I know, like I need more K-Beauty products, but seriously, there wasn’t a lot that I was looking forward to AND the last couple of months were not that great at Birchbox.

I love the bright yellow-green box with the botanical prints.  Very nicely done and I will save this box 🙂

My Box Revealed!

Informational Card

RE:P Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herb  Okay, I admit, this is the real reason why I chose this box!  I have never heard of RE:P before and I love a good facial clay mask.  This has a lot of herbal ingredients but I will have to spot test on my hand, because it does contain rose water.  As the ingredient is far down the list, I hope I will not have an adverse reaction to it.   This clay mask will help detox oily and blemish prone skin (which I have) and kaolin absorbs oil and dirt.  This has bits of herbs in it and you first massage it in gently, let sit on your face for 10 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.  Sample Size 20 g RV $6.40

Description: From casually touching our nose to diving into a chlorine-filled pool, we face lots of potential skin irritants everyday—which can then transform into buildup, clogged pores, and (shudder) pimples. Fortunately, we have this natural, soothing clay mask from the skincare experts at RE:P to leave us with a squeaky-clean slate. True to its name, the mask features real fresh herbs to gently exfoliate while kaolin clay works like a magnet to draw out impurities and remove debris. The result? Reduced redness and a smooth, happy, calm complexion.

IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer  This seems like a strobe cream ~ it does have SPF15, but it is shin-ey!  This flash cream has fruit extracts and pearl powder, which the latter explains the glow of this product.  It is lightweight and I don’t view it as a primer ~ it doesn’t act like one, nor feels like it.  This is a highlighting moisturizer, make no mistake about it.  Sample Size 7 mL RV $4.34

Tonymoly Delight Tony Tint in Red   This is an okay tint, but the color doesn’t look good on me.  I actually another product,  Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss in Velvet , and I will stick with that one. However, if you are on a budget and you enjoy a fire engine red tint, this will last on your lips.  I actually do not mind getting this as I will use it for my cleanser tests instead of my precious Chosungah 22. Sample Size RV $3.00

Description: This lightweight, super pigmented formula goes on your lips with a fruity smelling sheen, and dries quickly for a sheer, matte finish that won’t budge all day. It’s easy to create deeper color by adding layers of this non-drip formula, which moisturizes lips with rosehip and aragan oils. Plus, this long-lasting tint contains jojoba seed oil, which promotes cellular regeneration and elasticity for younger looking lips

Manefit Beauty Planner Cucumber Soothing + Moisturizing Facial Sheet Mask   I do not believe I have tried Manefit brand before so I am happy to try out a new facial sheet mask brand.  Also, this is in cucumber, which is perfect for soothing as well as hydrating.   This microfiber sheet mask will also help reduce puffiness.  If you have never used a facial sheet mask before, just apply to clean skin and leave on for 20 to 30 minutes.  Remove and pat in any remaining essence ~ do not wash off!  RV $2.00

Goodal Waterest First Essence   I love Goodal products and Goodal Waterest line contains two of my favorite items~ Goodal Waterest Tone Up First Essence and Waterest Lasting Water Oil.  This essence is a new configuration with fermented lotus flower extracts and I am not sure how I will like it, but I am glad I have it to compare.  The original config of First Essence didn’t have alcohol denat and contained a superior list of fermented ingredients, imho.   6 mL RV $1.20

Description: A favorite from Goodal, the soothing moisturizer purifies and hydrates skin with a blend of natural botanicals. Double-fermented lotus flower extract deeply hydrates while hyaluronic acid helps skin retain moisture. The best part? We don’t need to fly across the world to get our hands on it.

Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Bubble Peeling I actually have reviewed this product!  You can read my review here.  This is a fun bubble cleanser.  This is what I wrote originally last year (in January, no less!  Birchbox is sllooooww to KBeauty)  Yerba Mate contains potent antioxidants due to its high caffeine properties. This has a nice pump applicator and it comes out in a lightweight gel form. When I start to massage it into my skin, I can feel little granules in the gel and then … Bubble time! It foams up and bubbles on my skin. After rinsing this cleanser off, my face feels clean without feeling tight. This product doesn’t have a strong scent and it was very easy and convenient to use, as well as fun ~ I love the bubbles.”  Foil Extra 5 mL RV $3.30

Description:  There are few things as satisfying as baby-smooth skin, but harsh peels and exfoliators can leave our faces seriously irritated. Packed with natural ingredients that soothe instead of strip, this foaming cleanser from Korean brand Goodal doubles as both a peel and a scrub to gently remove dead skin with salicylic acid. Green tea extract brightens and evens our complexions while natural yerba mate leaves skin soft and nourished.

How To Use: Apply to damp skin and massage in gentle circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Rinse clean and pat dry. For best results, use one to two times per week.

Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Cleansing Foam I have received this sample in the past and the only thing I can remember from it is that its pH level is between 9 and 9.5, so if you have sensitive skin, you might wish to avoid this.  Sample Foil 5 mL RV 67 cents
