Memebox Skinfood Unboxing!

I do like Skinfood skincare products quite a bit ~ they aren’t as “natural” as I would like them to be, but they do make lovely scrubs and facial masks.   When Memebox first came out this latest Skinfood box, I didn’t purchase it right away, because it is $50.00 (for Skinfood ~ REALLY??  I expect CosRX or Innisfree to be that expensive, but not Skinfood)   However, a week or so ago, Memebox had the 30% off Honey products and the Skinfood Box was included, as it does contain honey skincare items.   If you follow me on FB or twitter, you would have seen me announce the 30% off sale 🙂  I thought for that price, $35.00, this box would be worth it.   Let’s see if it is!

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.  If you are new to Memebox, you use my referral link here and get 20% off your first order of $25.00 or more!

Premium Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Emulsion  Emulsions are really great for oily skin types, as we can actually just use this and skip a traditional moisturizer.  I do that at times when my skin is really acting greasy.  Emulsions are very light weight in texture and usually come before the moisturizer step.    Skinfood does add alcohol to a lot of their skincare products, and this emulsion is no exception ~ if you have skin issues with alcohol, you should be aware of this.  This doesn’t have much of a scent, I was hoping for a cucumber scent, but then again, lettuce doesn’t have much of a scent, so maybe it is lettuce scented 😀    What I can smell is that it is fresh and clean.   This lettuce & cuc emulsion looks mint green in the bottle, but actually is a opaque shade (although the photo below doesn’t really show the opaqueness) emulsion.  This contains 5% lettuce extract, 20% cucumber water and 5% cucumber extract.

  • Lettuce in skincare products contain rich sources of vitamins and minerals which provide a variety of skincare benefits: Vitamin A increases cell turnover, allowing for new skin cells to appear. Potassium has nutrients and oxygen, which improve blood circulation, which helps for healthy and radiant skin. Vitamin E and C helps combat free radicals and reverse their damage. Lettuce also helps clearing up blemishes as well.
  • Cucumber in skincare products contain large amount of ascorbic acid and can reduce water retention and decrease puffiness, and it helps temporarily tighten open pores as well.  Cucumbers also help improve your complexion as it can help fade hyper-pigmentation and scars,  rejuvenating your skin.

This is, as the product name states, a watery emulsion, but not too watery that it runs all over the place and absorbs quickly into my skin, which is a good thing!   I don’t have 40 minutes in the morning to wait for all of my skincare products to dry on my face ~ haha.   This is nice as it is cooling, the scent is subtle and fresh and for my oily skin, I can tolerate alcohol products.  This is a nice moisturizing emulsion and I am pretty happy with it.  Full Size 140 mL RV $20.90

Royal Honey Hydro Cream  I do love honey products as honey is fantastic for oily skin. Honey has antibacterial properties, that can speed up healing in your skin ~ think acne, rashes, cuts ~ and prevent additional infection. Not only does honey keep moisture in your skin, but it is humectant, which means it attracts moisture too and trap it so that it stays in your skin.  Honey is also an antioxidant, full of vitamins and minerals,  which means it helps repair and combat any damage caused by free radicals and prevents premature wrinkling.  Skinfood’s Royal Honey line contains Southeast Asian wild raw black honey produced by honey bees that live in the rainforests (UNESCO World Heritage).    This cream also contains royal jelly extracts, which will promote the renewal of skin cells and tissue repair, as it contains vitamins and minerals such as  B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, acetyl-choline and zinc.   Yeast and ceramide 3 are also key ingredients, the former contains beta-glucan, which is an antioxidant and the latter helps repair the skin’s protective moisture barrier system.  Natto gum ~ fermented soybeans, which help attract and trap moisture in your skin; Vitamin E: a powerful antioxidant and our good friend, sodium hyaluronate, a powerful moisturizer and helps retain water.   This product, once again, contains alcohol, but it half way down the list.

Royal Honey Hydro cream is a creamy color which reminds me of whipped honey, but has a gel-cream texture ~ it isn’t a heavy cream.   It has a very light (very faint) sweet honey fragrance that does not linger, and the application of this cream is smooth and silky. However, it doesn’t absorb that quickly into my skin and leaves a bit of tackiness and a film that sits on my skin.     It does hydrate nicely and leave my skin smooth, but due to the stickiness, I will use this as a night moisturizer.  If you have dry skin or flaky patches, this might work for you as a daytime cream.  Full Size 55 g RV $32.30

Ingredientswater, butylene glycol, cyclopentasiloxane, honey extract, glycerin, octyldodecyl myristate, glucose, hydroxyethyl urea, phytosteryl/benenyl/octyldodecyl lauroyl glutamate, royal jelly extract, BIS-PEG-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane,  dimethiconol, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, beta-glucan, hydrolyzed viola tricolor extract, triethanolamine, yeast extract, cabomer, disodium EDTA, natto gum, tocopheryl acetate, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, alcohol denat, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sodium hyaluronate, hydrogenated lecthin, creatine, glycerophosphocholine, mannitol, sucrose laurate, ceramide 3, lysolecithin, sodium ascorbyl phosphate,  methylparaben, phenoxyethanol, fragrance, FD&C yellow no 5 (CI 19140), FD&C yellow no 6 (CI 15985) analysis

Honey & Sugar Jelly Body Scrub  I love scrubs and it is rare that we get one in a Memebox.  I have never seen this product before and am pretty excited about it, as I do love Skinfood’s Black Sugar scrub line.   This is an off-white scrub and there is nothing jelly about it.  It is a dense, sugar packed scrub with just a very faint sugary scent ~ once again, I am struck by the lack of scents in these products so far.   Since the scrub is so dense, I had to “dig” in a little and then I massaged it into my skin.  I felt the sugar grains and then added water, which helped soften the scrub up, and then rinsed off.  My hand felt smooth, soft, hydrated and no greasy film was left behind!   This is a nice big tub o’ scrub and will come in handy, as my legs and arms can use this!   Full Size 200 g RV $20.00

Ingredientssucrose, PEG-8, glycerin, PEG-75, PEG-32, isopropyl myristate, petrolatum, dimethicone, sodium chloride, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, cyclopentasiloxane, polysorbate 20, dimethiconol, honey extract, boswellia serrata resin extract, butylene glycol, caprylhydroxamic acid, 1,2-hexandiol, caprylyl glycol, CI 19140, fragrance analysis

This Skinfood box is a nice deal at $35.00, but I don’t think I would have paid $50.00 for it ~ and I refused to purchase it until Memebox came out with that promo.  I think this has some nice items from popular lines, such as the lettuce & cucumber watery and royal honey lines and some lesser known (to me, at least) product lines from the Omija Whitening and Miracle Food 10 Solutions lines.  I really am looking forward to using the facial sheet masks, as you know I am obsessed with them and I love the big tub of body scrub, as I cannot get enough of body scrubs!

I paid $35.00 for this Skinfood Box, and received a MemeValue** of  $87.20.  You can find these products at a much less expensive price that the RV that Memebox has put on this items, but then you have to take in account shipping costs as well ~ the scrub is very heavy ~ and that is if you can find the product out there.  I do recommend getting this box ~ but only if Memebox comes out with another great promo, as I would not spend $50.00 on it, not unless you really have a burning need and desire for all of these products.     This box is still in stock at Memebox  and you might try promo code MEME10, for 10% off.

Did you purchase the Skinfood Box?  What did you think about it (and the price!!)?

  1. Hm, you’re making me rethink Skinfood a bit here, as it’s been a long time since I paid attention to anything of theirs except all those excellent sugar scrubs. That cucumber emulsion thing is a lot more “natural” than I’d expected, since I bet the vast majority of the ingredients coming after the extracts are under the 1% line. I may have to pick up a bottle at some point!

    1. Their lettuce & cuc watery line doesn’t seem to be popular around K-beauty circles for some strange reason, but I do like that line a lot – better than the royal honey line. They have facial masks in that line and they are so refreshing.

      1. Last year I really liked their Watery Berry line, particularly the emulsion. But I’m awful about emulsions. I’ve no idea why, but I can only ever get down to halfway through a bottle of any emulsion before I get so bored of it!
