LE Chinese New Year Oriental Beauty MaskGenie revealed!

This LE came in a lovely bright red bag with gold embroidery.  All but one of the masks fit inside and that is why it is off to the side in the photo above.  I really think this bag is just beautiful 🙂

Tosowoong Rice Paper Pack Original (Korea)  This is the mask that I really got excited about it.  It is a DIY type of mask, where you take the enclosed essence and pour it into the container holding the rice paper mask and let it absorb into the rice paper for several minutes.  Then you carefully apply the mask onto your face ~ Genie recommends you get the facial placement correct the first time, otherwise, the mask will tear quite a bit as you try to remove it and reapply it on your face.  This is a pretty high maintenance type of mask, after reading the instructions.  However, what is really cool is that you can add ingredients to the essence and tailor the mask towards for your needs!  The core essence already handles anti-wrinkling, whitening, has Vitamins B and E, minerals, amino acids, wild rice extract, buckwheat extract, mung bean extract, fermented rice extract, rye extract and barley extract!  Maybe I should add some cream and heat it up as a hot cereal 😉   I actually DID translate the Korean ingredients list to English by hand.  I am not a professional translator, so if I made a mistake, please let me know in the comments!  Retail Value $10.00

Description: Made with Natural real rice paper and amino acid complex.  Rich nature derived vitamin B, E and minerals provide healthy bright skin. Gamma oryzanol of rice provides bright vital skin. Lovemore Herba Saussurea Involucrata Revival Mask (Taiwan)  Another Lovermore mask and this is a whitening mask.   This was Genie’s featured mask due to the main ingredient ~ here is her review on it plus why Herba Saussurea Involucrata is a fascinating  ingredient 🙂

Let’s begin with talking about the ingredients of this mask ~ herba saussurea involucrata has always been mentioned in those imperial Chinese dramas being the only thing that can cure deathly poisons or deathly illnesses, and you need to climb high mountains and risk your life to pick it on a cliff ~ it so happens that this rare flower is the major ingredient of this mask, so it had to be something for me to try! It’s a very thin silk mask, although the part for the nose is rather big, it adheres to the face and stays put very well. There is no scent at all. After removing it after 15 minutes (recommended time is 10-15 minutes), there was still a lot of essence left on my face. After massaging in the essence, my face felt super smooth, and the bumps on my forehead felt less bumpy! My pores also appeared to be smaller too!!! I was so amazed by this mask that I kept touching my face the entire night!!! This has now become my favourite mask!!! This brand is well-known for using natural ingredients in their masks. Rating: 9/10”   (source)

I am really jazzed to try another Lovemore mask, and that this is a legendary flower (Tianshan Snow Lotus)  that has a mythic stance 😀    This mask also contains white tea, peony, pearl and ginkgo extracts.   This mask is also made from 100% natural silk sheet.  Value $1.50

Ingredients:  saussurea lanicep (Tianshan Snow Lotus) extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, ginkgo biloba extract, butylene glycol, paeonia suffruticosa (peony) root extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, mica, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, hydroxyethyl urea, xanthan gum, methylparaben, chlorphenesin, fragrance, water  cosDNA.com analysis

These next two masks are samples, but they Sulwhasoo and The History of Whoo are pretty expensive, so I am happy to try these out in a sample pack first.

Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask  (Korea)  Sulwhasoo is part of Amore Pacific, a company that I just adore.  This is a sleep pack sample and Sulwhasso is a higher brand name.  This has a lot of plant extracts, including ginseng, mulberry, walnut shell, cocoa and licorice and is supposed to smell like fresh ginseng.  I have not tried this yet, but this is also on my weekend “to try” list of products.  There is an in-depth review over at SkinandTonics and she really has given this product a rave recommendation.   This mask is about $50.00 for a 120 mL tube, so it is on the more “expensive” side, but not out of my price range if I decide I like it.  Sample Size 5 mL  Value $2.08

History of Whoo Nok Yong Pack (Korea) So what is Nok Yong?  Nok Yong are deer antlers,  which are supposed to be nutritious for both body and skin, and help detoxify your skin.  This also contains royal jelly extract and both of these ingredients are to help improve circulation in your body, and it is a warm heating mask.  I have heard really good things about this product brand and I am looking forward to using this.  A full size tube is about $60.00 for 120 mL, so again, this is an expensive product, but not too expensive that if I like it, it is within my price range.  Sample Size 4 mL Value $2.00

Genie did review them and this is what she had to say about this product

Nok Yong is the Korean name for deer antlers, an ingredient which is also used in Chinese cuisine to help nourish the body. It was also used in the soup I had to drink after giving birth. I found it interesting to use it in my skincare regime though. This mask smelled of ginseng. This mask contains royal jelly too. It looked like a pink cream, quite thick in texture, but easy to spread onto the face. I found it surprising that I needed to apply toner before using this mask, but I did as told. The mask heated up instantly after applying onto the face, and although quite thick in texture, it felt nice to massage with. I turned on an episode of TVD and massaged my face while watching the show. Massage your face for 20-30 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water  (source)

Description: Extracts from young antlers of deer in the pack vitalizes healthy skin tone and restores translucent glow of beautiful skin. Scoop out a small amount on the palm and evenly spread it out throughout the face. This facial mask uses a unique combination of ingredients to provide you with a natural skin care product perfect for rejuvenating skin cells and enhancing your overall natural glow. By stimulating blood circulation, you are left with a soft, glossy and shimmering effect.  Gongjinhyang – a secret royal court formula that presents heavely skincare to empresses.  Containing “gonjinbidan” and “wild ginseng cordyceps sinensis”.  Gongjinhyang helps create a more attractive skin tone.  Through the principle of yin-yang harmony to keep skin balanced and the principle of increasing water and diminishing fire to enhance moisture within the skin while soothing it effectively, it gives skin a new radiance and smoothness.

How To Use:  Cleanse the face well. Squeeze out some of the product and gently apply it to your face. Softly massage the area, leaving a thick layer of the product. Once complete, wait 10 minutes. Rinse face with warm water first, then with lukewarm water.

Ingredients: sodium silicoaluminate, PEG-8, butylene glycol, glycerin, velvet deer extract (5%), squalane, ceteareth-20, carbomer, fragrance, methylparaben, propylbaraben, royal jelly extract, FD&C Red No.4, Yellow No. 5, FD&C Blue No. 4  cosDNA.com analysis

Genie also added a couple of traditional Chinese New Year candies to the bag 🙂

This is a fabulously curated bag! I love all of the unique ingredients in some of these masks, plus some familiar ones.  I have no issues with the 2 foil packs, as those brands are really expensive and it is great to try them out ~ I am really looking forward to using both of them.  Tosowoong’s Rice mask is another one that I am eager to try and I do love the addition of the Lovemore masks!  The heated eye masks are also extremely intriguing and I will use them this weekend.  My K-Beauty Sunday Spa Night will be a treat this week!

If you are interested in MaskGenie, just go to MaskGenie FB page at https://www.facebook.com/MaskGenie and email Genie with your selection ~ either $22.00 US for the 10 pouch or $12.00 US for the 5 pouch.   This LE  pouch was worth over $23.00 or so (and this is based on what I found out there) and I purchased it for $23.50!!   I have to factor in shipping costs and the personal time that Genie takes in choosing and trying out the masks. I always get my masks within a week after Genie ships, so I have no complaints on the shipping side of things at all.   Do you subscribe to MaskGenie?  Did you purchase the Limited Edition pouch?   What masks interest you the most from this LE?
