Unboxing January 2015 MaskGenie!

I am so excited to tell you of this new service by a really lovely and talented beauty and lifestyle blogger, Genie @ http://geniesfavproducts.blogspot.com,   She also runs ABCDEats, of which if you follow my blog, I have posted my snack box unboxings and reviews here.  Earlier this month, she started with her own mask subscription service, where you can select from a 10 mask or 5 mask subscription.  It does not automatically renew, but she will invoice you monthly if you request it from her.  All of the masks included have been personally selected and reviewed by Genie on her blog, so you know what you are going to get.  I am currently subscribing to the 10 mask pouch

I received my January MaskGenie pouch ~ let’s see what I got!

Dermal Syn-ake Collagen Essence Mask (Korea)  This was another mask that could have had a choice ~ Syn-ake Collagen Essence Mask or Collagen Essence Mask or Charcoal Collagen Essence Mask ~ and I lucked out and received the Syn-ake mask.  I would have been happy with the Charcoal one as well, but I really like venom products, so I will enjoy using this one.  This mask contains Vitamin E and 0.2% Hydrolyzed Collagen, which will revive your skin, making it bright.  Syn-ake is the official name fora minute peptide ingredient (The Swiss Technology Award) and is similar to real snake venom.  This mask contains 2.5 ppm Synake and is supposed to keep your skin smooth, elastic and preventing your muscles from contracting ~ kinda like Botox.  This mask is supposed to have a cooling feeling as well and help firm your skin.   Genie’s review states that this mask is soaked with essence and is really good for a lower end brand mask.  Retail Price .80 cents

They had this image inside the folder and I had to post it here.  These poor guys just have some boo-boos going on here…

I am very pleased with my first month with MaskGenie.  I like the variety of the masks, from the types to the brands.  This month, with the exception of the Hippo patch, was focused on the face.  I hope in future months,  she might add some other masks (just not hoo-ha masks ~ lol).  The masks I am looking forward to using first are Sasatinnie Honey Peach, Sister Diary Apple Polyphenol Platinum, Mediheal Mogongtox Soda Bubbling, Secret Key Snail+EGF and Lebelage Egg.  They are look great and I will use them all.  I think Genie did a fantastic job curating January 2015 pouch and I cannot wait to see what she will pick out in the upcoming months!  I hope she continues to include local Hong Kong companies that make masks.

If you are interested in MaskGenie, just go to MaskGenie FB page at https://www.facebook.com/MaskGenie and email Genie with your selection ~ either $22.00 US for the 10 pouch or $12.00 US for the 5 pouch.   This month’s pouch was worth about $18.00 or so (and this is based on what I found out there), but the $22.00 also includes shipping too.   It only took a week for this to get to me, so it was pretty fast shipping.  Since many of these masks I have never heard of,  I like that I will have a chance to try some new masks, specially curated, knowing that Genie has used them herself.  She internationally ships and the shipping is included in the price.   MaskGenie also has some special pouches ~ they have an Oriental Beauty pouch that is separate from the monthly ones.

“Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and in order to celebrate this, MaskGenie has decided to launch the Oriental Beauty Pouch (limited edition). Each pouch will contain 10 different masks (ingredients including ginseng, pearl, and other oriental herbs) all nicely packed into a red silk pouch with golden thread weaving.  USD 23.50 Shipping Date 2/9/2015.”

Spoiler for Oriental Beauty Pouch: Herba Saussurea Involucrata Revival Mask Sheet (Taiwan).  Genie’s review (source) “Let’s begin with talking about the ingredients of this mask ~ herba saussurea involucrata has always been mentioned in those imperial Chinese dramas being the only thing that can cure deathly poisons or deathly illnesses, and you need to climb high mountains and risk your life to pick it on a cliff ~ it so happens that this rare flower is the major ingredient of this mask, so it had to be somthing for me to try! It’s a very thin silk mask, although the part for the nose is rather big, it adheres to the face and stays put very well. There is no scent at all. After removing it after 15 minutes (recommended time is 10-15 minutes), there was still a lot of essence left on my face. After massaging in the essence, my face felt super smooth, and the bumps on my forehead felt less bumpy! My pores also appeared to be smaller too!!! I was so amazed by this mask that I kept touching my face the entire night!!! This has now become my favourite mask!!! This brand is well-known for using natural ingredients in their masks. Rating: 9/10”

  1. I am so fascinated by those “Soda Bubble” sheet masks. I actually almost bought one the other day and decided against it at the last minute, but now I’m regretting it! #kbeautybloghop
