Memebox Special #70 Cleanse & Tone Review

This was the only box I had MemeEnvy when I saw the original unboxing’s from other bloggers.   I didn’t purchase this when it was first released, because I figured I had a ton of cleansers already and whatever.  I was able to nab this baby during a restock around the beginning of December and now I have it!!  This is probably my last Memebox review for the year 😉

Memebox Special #70 Cleanse & Tone

Walk the streets of Korea, and you’ll see that it’s all about flawless, glowing skin. And while impeccable Korean skin has been receiving lots of attention world-wide, it’s the notion that multi-step cleansing, toning, and prepping the skin prior to makeup application to achieve flawless skin that captured the hearts of many beauty junkies.  With this box, you’ll see that the mythical Korean cleansing routine is not actually a fable, and that the mysterious application techniques aren’t so mysterious after all. All products are gentle to use, even for the most sensitive skin types, to dissolve away even the most stubborn makeup, and extract all despicable pore-cloggers! The results? You’ll have sparkly, gorgeous skin that glows from within!

Informational Card

As these products are unknown to me and perhaps even to my readers, I am posting a description of the product under my thoughts for every product.  Normally, I just do a snippet or if it is a product that doesn’t really need a description, I won’t post it.  But for the purposes of my Memeboxes, I will make sure I find the appropriate description, usage and ingredient list if I can find it.   The descriptions will be from the webpage that is linked to the product name.  Not all of these products are sold in the Memebox Shop, so I had to look for them on various sites.   I really had a hard time finding these products, by the way, so don’t be thrown off by the Korean websites that are linked here!

banila co Clean It Zero Original and Resveratrol  Aren’t these just cute?  I love the mini banila Clean It Zero’s and I have a few of them in the original ~ they made great stocking stuffers and when I want to corrupt someone to K-Beauty, I just hand them one of these.  The Original Clean It Zero made my October Favorite Products and it is my HG oil cleanser.   There are several types of Clean It Zero

  • Original ~ suitable for normal skin.  Contains acerola and herbal essences for moisturizing the skin
  • Resveratrol  ~ effective for reducing large pores. Contains grape seed and olive oil tightening in the skin
  • Purity  ~ suitable for sensitive skin. Contains no artificial pigments and fragrance, no alcohol, mineral oil
  • Radiance ~ effective for whitening.  Contains viticin and moringa essence for brighter face

I have not tried the Resveratrol version and am pretty excited to try another “flavor” of this cleanser, especially since this is for pore tightening.   These are solid oil cleansers that just melt on your skin once you massage it in.    I am not a fan of oily cleansers, but these are the BEST ever as they do not leave my face feeling greasy, but moisturized.  I have oily skin, so these do not dry my skin out at all.   Mini Samples 7 g x 2 Value $1.54 and $1.82

My original review on the Clean It Zero in Original

Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm   This is Korea’s number 1 cleansing cream and it has a sherbet-like texture.  This is good for all skin types and contains acerola, papaya and herbal extracts to help moisturize the skin.  I like to take a small bit of this, you do not need a lot of cleanser, and massage it into my face.  This cleanser just melts into a liquid and cleans my skin.  It has a light cherry blossom scent, which does disappear once you start using the product on your face.   I  do not wipe the cleanser off, as I don’t like that method, so I use some warm water to remove the balm and then follow up with a cleansing foam and then my cleansing water.

Ingredients :Mineral Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Butylene Glycol, Water, Rubus Suavissimus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Leaf Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinesnsis Root Extract, Papaya Fruit Extract, Acerola (cherry) Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, BHT, Butylparaben, Acid Red 18, CI 15985,  fragrance

Oh no, MINERAL OIL!!  Actually mineral is not bad for your skin, as it is a noncomedogenic ~ its molecules are too big to enter into your pores.  It also has great hydrating properties for your skin as well.  I do not like to have mineral oil around my eyes, however, so I do not use this to remove eye makeup ~ I use my Secret Key Oil Free Lip & Eye Makeup Remover for that.    Other good stuff ~ Papaya Fruit Extract are exfoliant enzymes which help remove dead skin cells ~ Acerora Extract (aka cherry) is a potent antioxidant, with Vitamin A and C.

I am using my BIG jar of Clean It Zero (Original) to show you what this looks like

Top:  Just a little bit ~ about the size of an almond.  I put too  much on my hand here for display purposes

Bottom:  All I did was gently massage it in and it immediately liquified. analysis

Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Resveratrol   This is Clean It Zero version is for tightening pores and reducing the appearance of them.  This is a very light mint colored balm, and its scent is amazing ~ it is very fresh and sweet citrusy-green.  It works in the same manner as the Original Clean It Zero.    I was surprised to find out that resveratrol is actually an ingredient!!

What is Resveratrol? Like any antioxidant, resveratrol has incredible protective benefit for skin. In nature it is found in foods such as grapes, nuts, fruits, and red wine. When applied topically, resveratrol protects against sun damage, improves collagen synthesis, and reduces cell damage. It is a stable, potent antioxidant worth finding in a skin-care product. In addition, studies have shown that resveratrol inhibits tumor development. (source)

So, pretty good so far!   Resveratrol is the grape seed extract which is a natural antioxidant and anti-aging, and olive oil, which helps moisturize and keeps skin supple and healthy.    This has mild exfoliating properties and can deep clean pores.  I could not find the ingredient list in English or even Korean where I could easily translate it (images do not google translate well).   What I did find was this product contains resveratrol, grape extract, olive oil, other plant extracts and essential oils

Enesti Yuzu Foaming Cleanser   I always use a foam cleanser after I oil-cleanse with my Clean It Zero.  I am very pleased to get a citrus cleanser from Enesti.  I just received their Milk & Rice one in my Pumpkin Box, but that one is more suited for drier skin than mine…This is perfect for me.   I translated BOTH the image on the website and the label..sigh, they are different!!  This does feature hot spa water from Suanbo Spa Hot Springs (수안보온천) and on the website, they claim it is 49%, but on the product itself, it is only 30%.  See for yourself!

Ingredients (website): Hot Spring (spa) Water (49%), Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Myristic Acid, Lauric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-32, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Fruit Extract (12mg), Citrus Junos  (Yuzu) Seed Oil (12mg), Tocopheryl Acetate, Betaine, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance analysis

I don’t think anything past the fragrance (향료) are ingredients.  Someone please comment below if I am incorrect in that assumption.

Ingredients (product label):  Hot Spring (spa) Water (30%),  Water, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Myristic Acid, Lauric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-32, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Fruit Extract (12mg), Citrus Junos  (Yuzu) Seed Oil (12mg), Tocopheryl Acetate, Betaine, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance

Sure, it isn’t a big difference, water is water, imho, but I did laugh at that, as it took me about an hour to translate the website and then I looked at the product label and groaned.  It doesn’t matter when it comes to ~ it only recognizes water ~ lol.    I am pretty pleased as I do like a citrus cleanser.  One of my favorites is Missha’s Citron Fermented Foam Cleanser, so I am looking forward to trying this cleanser.   I did open the cleanser up to sniff at it, and yes,it has a wonderful orange scent to it!  Full Size 120 mL Value $14.00

A;T Fox Tea Toc Water Clear Tablet I actually LOVE these ~ I received this in my Tea Box.   These are great when I have painful skin issue (like a pimple that just hurts so bad) or just when I want  a nice soothing cleanse.  I must be one of the very few that enjoy getting these; my only complaint is that there is only ONE of them in this box.  A threesome would have been nice.   These are made with Jeju Island green tea leaves and green tea extract.    You just drop the tablet into a basin of warm water, let it dissolve (and it will bubble like carbonated water) and the water’s pH level becomes 4.9 ~ which is the best level for your skin and effectively cleaning and soothing your skin.   The green tea is a great detox, while also being an anti-inflammatory.   I personally add the tablet to a spritzer bottle and use it within a couple of days, to get more than one use out of it.  Full Size  4 g Value $2.00

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Maltodectrin, PEG-150, Camellia Sinensis (green tea) Leaf Extract analysis

Mizon Cotton Shower Sheet Essence randomly selected For Dry Skin (Moist), For Oily Skin (Fresh)  As luck would have it, I received the dry skin version.  However, it is winter time here in the Northeast USA region and I do get a few flaky patches on my face from the wind and freezing temperatures ~ which currently are nowhere to be found…huh.  I won’t go on about how that is disturbing on a lot of levels ~ having 50 degree weather a few days before January here is very unusual and not that natural.   However, I am sure that January will bring our normal weather back and a hard winter will be ahead, so I will keep these on hand.   These are small pack sheets, little rectangles, that are soaked in ingredients like spa water (there it is again!!) and shea butter.  I assume the oily version had the witch hazel, because the dry skin does not.   The dry skin version is soothing (which my face does get irritated at times), moisturizing and nourishing.  These are used just like facial sheet masks, but they do not cover your whole face.  You can also use this instead of a toner, by using the sheets as a toner wipe.   Full Size 55 mL Value $7.00

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Olive Oil Glycereth-8 Esters, Glycerin, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Onsen-Sui (mineral-rich hot spring water), Butyrosperumum Parkii (Shea) Butter,  Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea (Common Purslane) Extract, Adenosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scuttellaria Baicalensis (Baikal skullcap) Root Extract, Cyclomethicone, Xanthan Gum, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Panthenol, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Licorice Root Extract) analysis

Charmzone Ginkgo Cleansing Tissues I am really happy to see a Charmzone product here from their Ginkgo line.  I received their foam cleanser in my Garden of Eden box and I do like it quite a bit.   That said, boy oh boy, was Memebox EVER stingy with some of the items.   First, with the mini Clean It Zero’s, then the Tea Toc (should have been 3 of them, that is how they are sold) and now only getting a seventh of a full size for the cleansing tissues!   Oh well!  I am happy with getting cleansing wipes because many times, when I get home from work, I just want to wipe away the day from my face without having to do a major suds-up in the sink with my cleansers.   I still have several hours before I go to bed, so I just want to quickly remove my makeup, dirt and grime from the day before I make dinner, do chores, watch TV, etc.   I actually like getting wipes unlike getting sunscreen in my Memeboxes ~ haha!   I didn’t realize that the Ginkgo tree is one of nature’s oldest plants either!  This has 2,050 mg of Ginkgo extract, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammation, antibacterial and anti fungal properties and it is a good ingredient to cleanse your face with.  Mini Size 10 sheets  Value $2.14

I actually love all of the products in this box.  My biggest complaint is the SIZE of the products.   The Tea Toc could have been given as it is sold, in a trio, and that would have been valued at $6.00.   The Banila Co Clean It Zero ~ maybe a random selection between the Original and the Resveratrol, which would have been valued at $22.00 and $26.00.  They could have also included the mini’s as well.   And finally, the Charmzone Ginkgo Cleansing Tissues ~ a 70 sheet package for $15.00 would have been greatly appreciated.  Why do I bring this up?  Because of the value of the box.  It is one of the lower valued boxes, and they could have given us full sizes here without breaking the bank.    This box’s retail value is $54.50.  Pretty low.  Even with the changes I suggested, the value would be $82.36, if we got one of the full size Clean It Zero’s plus both mini versions, 3 Tea Tocs and a 70-sheet Charmzone.  Since I have received Memeboxes with much higher value, I was a little surprised at the low value.   I mean, I do really love this box, which is why I wish that Memebox would have given us full sized versions here.    I do not regret getting this box, however, and am pleased with the products, especially the Neogen.

I paid $23.00 + 6.99 in shipping, for a total of $29.99 and received a  MemeValue ** of $54.50.  ** What is MemeValue?  It is my term to describe the value that Memebox puts on the products, which can be very over inflated.  You can usually find these products at a lesser cost, so I do suggest researching first if you wish to purchase them.
