I am a Memebox Ambassador, which means that Memebox will send me, from time to time, some new products or items that I might be interested in to review for my readers. I saw these masks on Memebox’s Korean site and last weekend, they were giving a free mini of the Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask Hawaiian Pink Calamine with any purchase ~ and I did purchase some items to get that freebie 😀
I was waiting for the full size versions to come in stock so I could purchase ~ and out of the blue, I received these masks from Memebox! I thank Memebox for their generosity and I didn’t expect to get these. I am going to describe the scent, texture and the purpose of each mask, plus include the ingredients list. I will be adding to this blog post my reviews of each mask and when I am completed, I will host a little giveaway with the mini Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask Hawaiian Pink Calamine.

Description: Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask is a line of next-level jelly clay masks specially crafted to gently calm trouble skin, cleanse pores, hydrate skin, and brighten the complexion. Each variant contains their own star ingredient that has natural benefits to help you fight your skin problems! An innovative jelly-like clay that is 50% more hydrating than the traditional clay mask. It draws out dirt and impurities, removes blackheads, and hydrates.
Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask Hawaiian Pink Calamine (Troubled Skin Calming) Okay, Calamine is an ingredient that comes to mind for mosquitoes bites and poison ivy! Calamine is a very soothing ingredient, and will help reduce swelling and itchiness. It is also an antiseptic, which will help prevent infections and will disinfect and it is an astringent as well. This is considered an essential medicine by WHO (World Health Organization). Bonvivant uses 10,000ppm of calamine in this particular mask. This mask is also made with 30.9% kaolin clay (1000ppm), which will draw out impurities, such as dirt and excess oil. Due to its high content of silica, kaolin won’t dry your skin out, but keep it moist and according to the information on the box, it will increase the moisture on your skin by 50%. . It is no wonder that this mask helps calm and relieve flaky, dry, red and irritated skin with these ingredients.
- Papaya contains an enzyme called Papain, which is a natural exfoliator, making your skin smooth, vibrant and healthy. Papain cures a variety of skin issues, such as acne, dry skin and premature again.
This mask has no scent, has that calamine bubble gum pink shade and it has a very bouncy, pudding-like texture. It will be the first mask I try.
Description: The Pink Calamine mask calms and relieves red, dry, and flaky skin, thanks to its star ingredient Calamine that treats even sunburns and rashes. This calming mask also hydrates while detoxing skin, so you’re left with clean, moisturized, and supple skin.
Mini-Review: This pink mask has a cool bouncy pudding-like texture and it has no odor as far as I can tell. It applies smoothly and I left it on for 25 minutes as I had a thicker layer on my face. As it dried down, I could feel my skin tightening ~ it was not uncomfortable but you should know that it does cause that tight and slightly itchy feeling on your skin. I rinsed off the mask when dry, using a sponge to help remove all of the bits. I have to say, I was shocked by the results! I thought this would just reduce the redness and swelling from blemishes, but it also gave my skin a brighter and more radiant look! What strange magic is in this mask? Could calamine cause a more brighter look? I will have to research the ingredient list and look for what could have caused this amazing brightening on my skin!
Update: Yes, it looks like calamine can cause brightening of the skin tone as it is basically zinc oxide, which helps fade blemishes, hyper-pigmentation and give an overall brightening effect on your face. In fact, I learned that many people use calamine lotion to help fade and prevent blemishes, control oil and also as a moisturizer. It also helps block UVA and UVB rays, giving your skin some protection against the sun.

Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask Jeju Volcanic (Blackhead Remover) This is a traditional volcanic ash and clay mask ~ All of these masks contain kaolin and volcanic ash, but the Jeju Volcanic contains 1000 ppm of volcanic ash, 35% of kaolin clay and charcoal. Charcoal is a fantastic cleanser and detox ingredient, acting like a magnet to pull out and trap excess oil and impurities in your skin. This mask has the normal feel of a clay mask, it isn’t as bouncy as the pink version, but it is still jelly like in texture. This mask specializes in removing dirt and oil that is deep down in your pores and really giving your skin a good detox.
- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) has amazing wound healing proprieties due to its antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory compounds. It is also is a soothing and invigorating ingredient as well.
Description: The Jeju Volcanic mask stars exotic ingredients from Jeju volcanoes to dig out deep-seated dirt, debris, and oil from pores. The Jeju Volcanic mask stars exotic ingredients from Jeju volcanoes to dig out deep-seated dirt, debris, and oil from pores. It also controls excess sebum production, leaving you with clear, radiant, and naturally dewy skin. Plus, it’s the mildest of the three in this line, so it’s perfect for sensitive and blackhead-prone skin.
Mini-Review: This is the 2nd clay mask from Bonvivant that I am trying from the 3 jelly mask line ~ it is made with kaolin clay, volcanic ash and charcoal powder and helps draw out impurities and detox your skin. The clay is not as “bouncy” as the Pink Hawaiian Calamine mask I used last night ~ it is a bit more thinner in texture, like not-quite-yet-set pudding. It applies on smoothly and doesn’t seem to have an odor that I can detect. When it dries down it doesn’t tightening or pull at my skin, so it is a gentle clay mask. I rinsed this off after 15 minutes, and this was a mask that took a bit of time to remove ~ it really didn’t want to leave my skin! Once again, I went into using this mask as meh, another Volcanic mask.. big woop. However, I had two small little blemishes that were right under my skin and this mask actually drew them out and expelled them! That is a pretty BFD! I am pleased with this mask because it really is working to remove toxins and draw out impurities in clogged pores.

Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask Mint Tea Tree (Dead Skin Cell Remover) This mask is the most interesting to me as I love mint and tea tree! This mask contains .01 ppm of tea tree oil and it is a fantastic blemish fighting ingredient and mint (.08%) just smells great ~ and it is refreshing and it has a high content of salicylic acid. This is an exfoliating mask due to the walnut shell powder (1%) acting as some little scrubby bits in the mask.
- Montmorillonite (1000ppm) is a mix of another clay ~ bentonite ~ and fuller’s earth. Montmorillonite absorbs excess oil, toxins and other impurities from your skin, while helping to tone your skin and help reduce the appearance of your pores.
This is a thin green-gray clay mask, with bits of powder added for texture and exfoliation. It does smell like mint to me!
Description: The Mint Tea Tree mask treats troubled and oily skin, removing dead skin cells and absorbing excess sebum with its Tea Tree Oil. It also tightens enlarged pores and cools skin with a refreshing sensation, leaving you shining radiantly in a non-greasy way.
Mini Review: This is the last of the trio and one that I was most interested in (mint + tea tree + clay + exfoliating = HAPPY!). Unlike the other two masks in the series, Jeju Volcanic & Hawaiian Pink Calamine, the texture of this mask is thin and almost watery ~ with gritty little bits swimming in a light green-gray clay mask
It also has a scent ~ of mint! I love mint, so this is a really nice aromatherapy experience as well as an exfoliating mask. This has a cooling sensation due to the mint in it, and it really feels nice on ~ even the dry down on the mask is pleasant as it does tighten my skin, but not in that horrible “I need to remove this mask now” feeling. After 10 minutes, I rinsed it off, massaging it into my skin as it contains little walnut powder bits ~ very fine ~ and that will help exfoliate my skin further. Verdict: My pores looked smaller, my face felt smoother plus refreshed as I still felt the cooling effects of the mint. It helped smooth out some small closed blemishes I had around my chin area and my face didn’t feel dry or stripped but hydrated. Two thumbs up on this mask!

All of these masks have the same instructions ~ just apply an even layer on your face or targeted spots, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash off the mask, using a circular motion. Memebox has a great tip for using all three of these masks together
MEMETIP: Ready to change the way you mask? We all have different skincare needs on each part of our faces. For instance, our T-Zone is oilier than our cheeks, our chin area is more prone to breakouts, and so on. Cue in Rainbow Masking! This cool K-beauty concept encourages us to take control by tailoring our masking to suit our specific skincare needs.

Rainbow Masking: I decided to try out rainbow masking, which is to target my skin care needs/concerns with my wash off masks ~ Hawaiian Pink Calamine is a soothing and brightening (for me at least) mask, so I applied that on the areas where I have hyper-pigmentation concerns: the sides of my face and going up around on my forehead. Jeju Volcanic is a detox and oil control mask, so I used that on the bridge of my nose and my chin area, as that is where I get the most oil and blemishes. And finally, Mint Tea Tree is an exfoliating, oil and pore control mask, so I used that where my pores are larger ~ side of my nose, areas around my nose, such as the sides of it and above my upper lip and the middle part of my forehead. Your own needs might be different, so how would you rainbow mask? Which mask would go with what area on your face?
Final Thoughts
I have to say that Bonvivant and Memebox hit it out the ballpark with these three clay masks ~ I did received them for review purposes but I totally recommend these masks! Out of the three masks, I will say that the Mint Tea Tree is my favorite because of the ingredients, the herbal scent, the cooling sensation and exfoliating benefits. However, all three masks are quite different, so if you wanted to try them all, they wouldn’t be a “repeat” and they all are quite excellent. I am still amazed by the Pink Calamine’s brightening effects and how well Jeju Volcanic helped to purge blemishes from my skin. I have oily, blemish prone skin with aging concerns, in case you were interested in my skin type.

I LOVed the reviews everything. So would you then say more acne-prone areas should use the Hawaiian pink mask ?

Actually, all three are good for acne prone skin. My acne prone areas are my nose and chin, and I used the charcoal one there, with the mint tea tree around the sides of my nose and forehead for pore care. I found the pink to be more brightening and soothing care.
