Unboxing Beauty

I received my MaskGenie pouch for April and I have been so busy that I am just getting to the unboxing of it!  This pouch has a lot of masks and a surprise too, as I didn’t know MaskGenie was having a promo if you purchased your pouch early.  I always pay for mine when I get invoiced, so I didn’t notice ~ lol.

MaskGenie is a monthly subscription of masks ~ facial sheet mask, body masks, wash off masks and hair masks.  The owner lives in Hong Kong and she (Genie) finds masks that are popular, trending, new ingredients and determines which ones she feels are worthy for her customers to try.   Shipping is extremely fast ~ within a week, I get my pouch.  You can order the 8-10 mask pouch for $23.99 and that includes shipping and she just doesn’t ship to the USA ~ MaskGenie ships all over the world.  The 5 pouch mask set is being discontinued starting January 2016, as there wasn’t a lot of subscribers to that and the 10 pouch is now 8 to 10 masks, as Genie wants to be able to add in higher end (more expensive) masks to the pouch ~ the value will still be there, however, it is just that some masks will be more expensive.  Genie tries to do her pouch reveal on Youtube  ~ you can watch it here.

Combos Skin Corn Fiber Mask Moisturizing Kiwi (Korea)   This is very interesting ~ I don’t believe I have had a mask sheet made from corn fiber befoe.  This mask is a moisturizing mask with the following key ingredients

Facezine Bubble Girl Mask Sheet Chocolate (Korea)    I really like Mediheal’s bubble mask, so I will give this one a try.  They can be hit or miss as I didn’t care for Tonymoly’s bubble mask version.  This one cocoa in it ~ so I wonder if it will smell like chocolate!  These masks are for the lower part of your face and the bridge of your nose and once the package is opened and the mask exposed to air, it will start foaming and bubbling up.  The theory is that the bubbles will help deep clean your skin ~ but they are a lot of fun to use!  RV $5.00

Beyond Brightening Rice Bran Mask   (Korea)  The handsome man on the mask is a famous K-Drama actor ~ I must confess, I don’t watch K-Drama ~ I should, as I guess they are funny, but I don’t have the time for it!  This is a brightening mask with niacinamide and rice bran oil, which is a lovely moisturizing antioxidant ingredient.  I am really love rice bran oil products (I am currently using a rice oil which I will be reviewing fully in another month or so)   I am looking forward to using this and Beyond is an eco-friendly brand too!  RV $2.63

SNP Prestige Mayu Ampoule Mask (Korea)  So, I have tried a couple of Mayu (horse oil/fat) masks and I totally adore Ciracle From Jeju Mayu mask.  I am surprised how much my skin likes this very rich oil, but I guess it can tolerate it fine in facial masks ~ I had horrible experience with a Mayu face cream, as it was just too much for my very oily skin.   This contains 500mg of 100% Jeju Mayu (horse) oil and it to help with wrinkles and fine lines.  RV $2.70

de herbs Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Neck Mask (France/Hong Kong)   Ahh, Genie is mixing it up here!  This is a neck mask, as your neck area needs TLC too!  Hyaluoronic acid will help intensely hydrate your skin. I do not have a full ingredient list, as I could not find one, but these are the key ingredients:

Skin79 Fruit Mask in Strawberry Girl  (Korea)    This is a printed mask!  How fun ~ I received Strawberry, which wasn’t one of the choices ~ but I am happy because I love strawberry masks ~ strawberries which are full of vitamins, minerals and are an antioxidant also really help with oily and blemish prone skin.  This mask will help rough, dull skin and exfoliate dead skin cells while hydrating.  RV $3.90

Blumei Flora Mask Goddess of Flower Mask in Peony (Korea)   Another printed mask ~ and if the photos are correct, this is just stunning.  This is an anti-wrinkle, calming mask that has a lovely peony floral design using 3D printing.  It is a hypoallergenic mask  that soothes and helps hydrate and purify your skin.   This is full of lovely floral and herbal extracts.  Blumei has a series of flower masks and they are quite beautiful

This mask is Day 4, which is a pore tightening and brightening mask.  All of their masks are 100% cotton.  RV $2.00

Bonus

As I paid early for my pouch, I received a bonus mask ~ which are foot detox patches. I received these last year and I am glad to have these again!   I will repeat my original findings below, but I will say these did make my feet feel more relaxed and not so achy in the morning when I used them.  And there was a lot of brown gunk on the patch too!! 

Steady Foundations  (Kinomegumi) Natural Detox Foot Patch – Chilli (Japan)  According to the info I found, it is “suitable for those who stay long term in air conditioned rooms“, which is basically how I do spend my days (work and all).   Genie mentioned that it improves blood circulation, something that I need as my feet do get cold.   I know that these foot patches are reported to remove toxins (such as heavy metals)  from your body overnight and that is why they turn such a dark color, as that is supposed to be the removed toxins.  As I couldn’t find any information on it except what Genie wrote up on her MaskGenie review and a Hong Kong Groupon page, I will repeat part of what Genie wrote (source)

These are detox foot patches, and each flavour claims to have different health benefits for your body. Recently, I’ve been feeling ice cold at night, and have trouble falling asleep due to how cold I’ve been feeling. Note that the temperature in Hong Kong is around 15-16 degrees at night, so it’s not as cold as I feel it to be. I felt so cold that I had to heat up my hot water bottle and hug it to sleep! This foot patch (which can also be used on the body) is the chilli flavour, which claims to get rid of the yin inside the body, increase blood circulation, and boost the metabolism. I tried to smell the patch, and I just kept sneezing! The ingredients inside the patch was quite powdery, but it stayed put inside the patch. I stuck the patch onto the sticky pad, and stuck it onto the soles of my feet. It stuck pretty well, and my skin didn’t feel irritated. I left it on overnight, and when I woke up in the morning, I peeled it off to find the soles of my feet feeling super sticky. It was so sticky that I had to wash it off with soap and water. I was so surprised to see that the patch had become a liquidy brown colour (is that the bad stuff from my body?). 

I couldn’t find any retailer selling this easily, but a quick search on eBay found that these detox foot patches are found by other manufacturers.   Value $1.25

Genie really outdid herself this month on the value of this pouch ~ these masks are not that easily found in the US and if they are found, they are expensive ~ I posted the value that the retailers are selling them for and that doesn’t include shipping.  I love the printed masks, even though I cannot use the peony ~ I am almost tempted to take it out, let it dry and frame it! It looks that beautiful – haha.  A mask made out of corn ~ pretty interesting and a chocolate bubble mask ~ which is always fun.  This pouch really is fantastic this month!  I paid $23.99  for this pouch, which included shipping, and received a retail value of around $25.83 and with the foot patches, it came out to over $27.00.
