Review Digest: Innisfree Skin Clinic Mask Series

I purchased these new masks from Innisfree a while ago and am just finishing up my series review on them. I posted the original reviews on my IG account and am now placing them in to a mask digest, so that it will be easy to find. Innisfree Skin Clinic masks are designed to address specific skin issues:

Peptide – Wrinkle Care
Vita C – Whitening

Innisfree Skin Clinic BHA I like the clean looks of the packaging design ~ Their It’s Real Sheet Masks are very organic with fruits, plants, veggies and the Skin Clinic line is, well, clinical and all science like, with the beakers! Salicylic Acid is the BHA ingredient in this mask and that will help exfoliate your dead skin cells and also unclog your pores. This 100% cotton mask does have a pearl paper protector as this is a thin mask, but not as thin as Lovemore or Annie’s Way. The mask feels soft and is easy to apply, and I don’t have any fit issues as it covers my face pretty evenly. The scent is different ~ I kept thinking I know this scent, it smells so familiar and then I got it ~ It smells like tonic soda water ~ you know, the one with quinine in it ~ it is a bit of a bitter scent. It isn’t unpleasant, however, just made me want a gin & tonic tonight. haha. This doesn’t have a lot of excess essence so I would not call this a dripping wet mask. It does dry out quickly, so after 10 – 15 minutes, I removed it. There was no sticky feeling to my face and my face was cool to the touch, while having a semi-matte finish ~ this is what I call an acne-control mask, so it makes sense it would not be a moisturize bomb or leave a dewy finish. This is what I am looking for in these types of masks. I did notice that my face looked visibly brighter after I removed this. I really am interested in using the BHA mask and I did purchase several of these so I could try them again. This BHA Skin Clinic mask is a two thumbs up

Innisfree Skin Clinic Catechin Catechin is found in green tea 🌱🌱🌱and is an antioxidant and it will help prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are what keeps our skin smooth, firm, moist and youthful looking, and skin elasticity will decrease the older you get. I need to bathe in catechin. Skin Clinic are the latest in Innisfree’s line of facial sheet masks and I picked up several of them to try. These do not contain alcohol, which I know that many people didn’t care for in the It’s Real line, but that never bothered me

This has the same bitter tonic water scent as the BHA mask I used the other night. It is a thin cotton mask, very translucent and is protected by the pearl paper, so it doesn’t lose form and has support as you try to place this on your face. Once you remove the pearl paper, sit and wait. This isn’t the most moist mask I have tried, but there is enough essence on the mask to make it adhere quite well to my face. This mask has excellent coverage on my face. After 30 minutes, I removed the mask ~ my face was moist and there was no residue or tackiness from the Catechin mask. It leaves almost a satin finish to my face and as I inspected my face with my mirror, I could see that my fine lines were plumped up from this mask. Of course, this is all temporary. So, despite the fact that these are not juicy masks, I do like how both this and the BHA masks have almost a mattifying effect on my skin, which as I have oily skin, this is a good thing.

Innisfree Skin Clinic Hyaluronic Acid is supposed to be a hydrating mask. I took a photo of the mask, so you can see how thin the cotton sheet is with the Skin Clinic Series and the “Pearl Paper” (the plastic insert) to help stabilize and keep its form as you are applying it to your face ~ it also makes it easier to apply as you aren’t directly touching the thin mask layer. Once in place, pull away (gently) the pearl paper and then pat any excess essence that might be in the bag ~ with these masks, there isn’t a lot of extra essence, but they are adequately wet and I can keep them on my face for a good 30 minutes.

The thin cotton mask is transparent and has a great fit for my face and adheres nicely. So far, the scent for the Skin Clinic Series (this is my 3rd mask I have tried so far) all have the same tonic bitter water scent to them. I don’t mind it and it is light, but I find it strange that they all smell this way!! After removing the mask, I waited a few minutes and took a moisture level reading and was at 51%. Not too shabby considering it is about in the 30’s outside so in the indoor dry heat is on full force ~ and at the end of the day, when my moisture level is at its lowest. These masks are the driest, wettest masks I have tried ~ if that makes any sense!! Not a lot of extra essence, but they do seem to hydrate nicely

Innisfree Skin Clinic Madecassoside What the heck is madecassoside? Madecassoside, also known as madecassic acid, is derived from centella asiatica ~ now that is an ingredient I am familiar with! Madecassic acid is extracted from the stems and leaves and it helps soothe, reduce redness and inflammation and helps heal your skin. It also stimulates collagen production and strengthens your skin barrier. I really like Innisfree Skin Clinic mask sheets, which are made from cotton, but they are so smooth and delicate, it reminds me of silk. This mask has a sweet scent to it, very light and it soaked in essence ~ it is a very wet mask, which is surprising to me, as the previous 3 I tried were not soaked in essence with excess in the packet. . This mask is very cooling and soothing on the skin and I did leave it on for 20 minutes, as the thin cotton does dry out quickly (dry heat in my home). My face feels very hydrated, looks brighter and no irritations.

Innisfree Skin Clinic Vita C Continuing with Innisfree Skin Clinic series, I am reviewing Vita C. This mask has Vitamin C which will help brighten your skin tone and niacinamide which will also even out your skin tone and reduce hyper-pigmentation spots. This mask does have peppermint, eucalyptus, juniper and clove oil, so for those who might be sensitive to these aromatic oils, you might wish to avoid this mask. The Skin Clinic series masks are a fine cotton weave that reminds me of silk and it is transparent with a really good fit around the eyes, nose and mouth. This mask didn’t have much of a scent and their was some essence in the packet, so I just patted that on the mask after applying it. After 20 minutes, I removed the mask, and was surprised to see my cheeks had flushed red ~ maybe it is the aromatic oils? I normally do not have any flushing like this, but it might have been a combination of the niacinamide, vitamin C and the oils. At any rate, the flushing did go away within 10 minutes and my face did look more brighter. No tacky residue, it absorbed quickly and had a cooling effect on my face.

Innisfree Skin Clinic Collagen The first thing I noticed was the scent ~ it is lightly scented with clary sage ~ a warm green scent, like a wild meadow. This is a collagen mask which is supposed to help plump, firm and revitalize your skin. This is not as wet as the last two masks, but there is some essence left over in the packet. After 20 minutes, I removed the mask and my face did feel hydrated … but I felt that there was a film of something on my face. My face felt slick and quite frankly, not clean. I washed my face after this as I could not handle the slick oily feel on my face ~ it wasn’t that my face felt sticky or anything, but had a coating on it. This is not my favorite mask ~ maybe it will work better for dry skin.

Final Thoughts

I did not purchase the 7th mask in this series ~ Peptide ~ as that had rose oil extract in it. However, six masks in this series was good enough for me! The ones that I really liked a lot are Madecasoside, BHA and Catechin masks; however, I did enjoy using all but one of them ~ the Collagen mask. It just is those three were exceptional to me. If you were never a fan of Innisfree’s It’s Real Squeeze Masks due to the alcohol content and scent of alcohol, I really do recommend giving these a try. The scent is very light and disappears quickly and these masks are thin like silk, but are made of cotton ~ really great fit around the face. They have 7 varieties to chose from, so you can find one to fit your own skin concerns!
