I blogged about purchasing a few items from the last few months (Centella, Aloe Vera) from Wishtrend and those items, plus a few more, were part of my August facial routine. I actually started this testing in late July, as the muggy weather hit early this year.
- cosRX Centella Water Alcohol Free Toner
- cosRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol
- cosRX BHA Summer Pore Minish Serum
- cosRX Galactomyces 95 White Power Essence
- cosRX Aloe Vera Oil-free Soothing Gel
- cosRX Aloe Vera Oil-Free Moisture Cream
- cosRX Centella Blemish Ampule
- cosRX Centella Blemish Cream
- Ciracle Anti-Blemish TeaTree Wash
At the end of this blog post, there will be more information on these products with the ingredient list. I also added these two products in my routine, as I found that I needed a bit more oil control during a couple of weeks in August. I initially did not write up a haul blog post on these two products, but I will post additional information on them in the Detail Information section below.
- Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening : Glacial Clay Facial Mask
- Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening : Glacial Water Moisturizel
About my skin type and issues: Oily, older skin, hormonal acne, clogged pores, aging concerns, hyper-pigmentation concerns
Ingredients of Note
- Tea Tree Extract is known for its topical antiseptic and anti-fungal properties and help target and treat blemish-prone skin. It also reduces oil and sebum production on your skin, while not disrupting the moisture level.
- Centella Asiatica is a common herbal ingredient that is used medicinally to help speed up wound healing, such as blemishes and skin rashes. It also helps minimize the appearance of pores, and since it stimulates collagen production, it will make your skin more supple and firm.
- Aloe Vera is a powerful moisturizer that doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy. It soothes, treats inflammation, helps speed up skin healing and also has a plethora of antioxidants ~ beta-carotene, Vitamin C and Vitamin E, which help improve your skin’s firmness and keeps your skin moist and hydrated. It also contains over 75 different nutritious ingredients, including minerals, enzymes, amino acids, salicylic acid and much more.
- Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) is an intensive moisturizing ingredient which bonds water to keep skin hydrated. It is a natural substance found in the human body and it made up of amino and uronic acids, and helps retain 100 to 1,000 times its own water weight in our skin cells.
- Galactomyces are fermented yeast filtrates and are highly moisturizing as well as being a powerful anti-oxidant. They help fight free radicals and reverse and slow down the aging process in your skin, by reducing the appearance of existing fine lines and wrinkles while preventing new ones and also by brightening and evening out your skin tone by fading hyper-pigmentation spots. It also controls cell turnover and oiliness
- Salix Alba (willow) Bark Extract is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) which helps exfoliate skin by removing dead skin cells, contains salicylic acid, to help combat acne. It is also high in anti-oxidants, which tone and reduce inflammation as well as being an astringent, to control oil. Salicylic acid is fat soluble, so it can really get to the oil that is inside your pores.
- Propolis is a natural antibiotic (antibacterial and anti-fungal) that is produced by honey bees and it a powerful natural anti-oxidant, because it contains over 50 different flavonoids. It also is an emollient, so it is not only a good blemish and anti-aging treatment, it also moisturizes your skin as well.
My Daily Routine
During this testing period, this was my daily AM routine. I am not including any products that aren’t in my testing period, such as eye creams, exfoliators and sleeping packs in this daily routine review. Most of the other items were products that I already had in my skincare routine.
Cleansing would include Ciracle Anti-Blemish TeaTree Wash, which is a strongly tea tree scented foaming cleanser, with a pH level of 6. I really enjoyed this cleanser, as it controlled any blemishes that might be thinking of showing up on my face and controlled the oiliness on my face, without stripping my face dry. This is not a rich thick foam, but a mild thinner foaming cleanser, but it works well for me after I cleanse my face with a oil based cleanser and helps remove any oil residue left behind from that step. This is will be a repeat purchase for me as I think this cleanser is great in the summertime. I started using this cleanser in June, and I still have 1/4 of the bottle left.
After cleansing, I would spray Centella Water Toner on my face ~ this is alcohol free, made with centella asiatica, which soothes and reduces any redness on my face. It also helps with normalizing the pH levels for my skin. This is toner is scentless, and works fine ~ I still think that cosRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner is better overall. I will continue to use this until it is finished, but this won’t be a repeat purchase, only because I love the AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner instead ~ you can read my review here. You can also use Centella Water Toner over your makeup, during the day, to refresh and moisturize your skin.
On really hot muggy days, of which there were quite a few in the last 8 weeks, I would add these next 3 steps just on my forehead, nose and chin area (T-Zone)
I would apply Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol on my T-Zone, by using a cotton pad soaked in this very watery toner. I thought this was a serum, but it is not! This is a BHA/AHA toner that contains propolis and tea tree extracts. This helps mattify my skin in this area, while controlling the oil. I then would apply BHA Summer Pore Minish Serum ~ another BHA product. This has powder on the bottom of the bottle and you have to shake it well first before using. I used a cotton pad again with this and I would dab this on my T-Zone. This acts as an astringent, as it contains white willow water. Both of these products have a slight alcohol scent and the A-Sol has the additional faint scent of tea tree. Finally, I would moisturize my T-Zone with Skin&Lab Glacial Water Moisturizel, as this moisturizer did not add additional oil or greasiness to my skin, while controlling oil and shine. Another bonus is that it felt really nice on my skin, as it did cool my skin.
These three products combined were used to control the extra oil that would be produced during the humid days. Did you know that your oil production will increase as much as 20% for every degree that your skin temperature rises? That is reason why it was very important to me to try and target my more oily areas with special products on really hot days.
Continuing with my skin routine, I would apply Galactomyces 95 White Power Essence to my cheeks, as that is where I can use more help with reducing hyper-pigmentation. This essence is very moisturizing and I love the slick way it feels on my skin. My face is brighter, but my hyper-pigmentation spots have not faded. I will continue to use this product until it is gone, as I do feel that products that claim to reduce hyper-pigmentation spots do need at least 3 to 5 months before noticing its effects. A little goes a long way with this yeasty fermented goodness, which also contains niacinamide and sodium hyaluronate, which helps with brightening and moisturizing and it is also an anti-aging product ~ despite having blemishes and oily skin, I also need anti-oxidants and anti-aging products too.
I then apply the Aloe Vera Soothing Gel all over my face and neck. This is a lightweight essence made with aloe and sodium hyaluronate, so it is not only soothing, but very moisturizing. Once that dries, I use the Aloe Vera Oil-Free Moisture Cream on my face and neck as well as my arms ~ this is very much a gel moisturizer, much thicker that the Aloe Vera Soothing Gel Essence. Aloe Vera water creates a moisture barrier on your skin which helps protect your skin from irritants. This moisture cream is also very helpful in soothing and healing any blemishes and acne, rashes and sunburns, as it contains chlorophyllin-copper complex. Chlorophyllin-copper complex helps heal your skin by slowing the growth of anaerobic bacteria on your skin.
On days when I notice redness or small bumps, I will add a few drops of the Centella Blemish Ampule, which is a thick serum that looks green, but is actually colorless. This serum will prevent new blemishes from occurring, while healing existing ones ~ as this ampule also contains chlorophyllin-copper complex.
Special Treatments
Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial mask ~ I used this product 3 times a week. Once a week, I would use it all over my face, avoiding my eyes and lip area. Twice a week, I would only apply this on my T-Zone, to really help with the oil there. This mask contains clay, which will draw out excess sebum and absorb it. Do not apply this mask too thickly, otherwise, the mask will not dry and you will not get the benefits of the clay ingredient. However, do not leave the mask on for so long that it flakes off your skin, because then the clay is actually drawing moisture from your skin, not oil. Your clay mask should be cool and a bit sticky to touch, but lighter in appearance ~ about 10 to 15 minutes after you applied it. If left on too long, your skin will feel dry and tight, even itchy. If this happens, do not overdo the moisturizing step ~ Just put on your normal amount and if you have any hydrating oils, add a few drops to your cream and that is it. Otherwise, you will clog up your skin with excess moisturizer.
This Clay Mask does feel cool on my skin, and it tingles sharply as it drys down. It feels like needles, but it is the clay drawing out the impurities from my skin. This product does have tea tree oil in it to help control oil and act as an anti-bacterial, as well as oatmeal, which is moisturizes your skin while the clay is working to remove the dirt and debris. You can actually see the oatmeal granules in the mask and I do think this is one of the nicer clay masks I have used in a while. It does smell like tea tree, so again, if you dislike tea tree scents, you may not like this product.
I used cosRX Centella Blemish Cream in the evening as the last step in my normal night skincare routine. This white blemish cream is very thick and almost a paste texture, but it does absorb quickly. I add a thick layer over my problem areas, let sit for 10 minutes and massage in the remaining cream that hasn’t absorbed by that time. I found this cream to be very excellent ~ it really controlled any blemishes that might be thinking of becoming a problem child. Anything that looked to be acne was gone in the morning, as it really targeted on healing any blemishes. This stuff is fantastic! This was one of the very few products that had a scent ~ it does contain tea tree, so it does smell like it.
Final Thoughts
None of these products, outside of the cleanser, blemish cream and clay mask, had an odor or if they did, it was so barely noticeable and unoffensive, I didn’t pay much attention to it. I will say this ~ normally during the summer months, I will break out in acne and have issues getting my blemishes to heal properly. Since I had such horrible muggy, humid and hot weather these past 8 weeks, I expected to break out again, which is why I choose these products for my August testing. I am happy to report that outside of a few zits trying to flirt with my skin, I did not have any major breakouts. There were times when I saw a whitehead try to form, but once I applied the blemish cream thickly over it at night or use the blemish ampule, they healed up quickly and didn’t come to head.
I honestly feel that these products did keep my oiliness under control, removed dirt, oil and debris from my skin, therefore, keeping blemishes at bay. I still have my normal shine during the day and I fear there is nothing that will stop that from happening ~ but my face didn’t feel like an oil slick and my skin did feel properly moisturized and hydrated. I was honestly shocked and happy when I did not have any major breakouts, as my skin type has not changed ~ I still have very oily skin. Do I need all of these products in the future? I don’t think so ~ but next summer, I will definitely want the following products ~ from cosRX: Returning A-Sol, White Power Essence, Aloe Vera Moisture Cream, Centella Blemish Ampule and Cream ~ Skin& Lab Glacial Clay Mask and Ciracle Anti-Blemish TeaTree Wash. All of the products were excellent, but for me, these were the standouts. I prefer using my Innisfree Jeju Bija Anti-Trouble Toner instead of the Pore Minish Serum.
I know this looks like a lot of products to use, and it is! However, I found that my skin was not greasy or oily, despite the amount of layering of skincare products. I did not have any adverse reaction and these items are very light weight products to begin with, but have deeply hydrating properties that help keep my skin moisturized without feeling sticky or tacky. I really liked using these products during the heat wave, as the Aloe Vera and Glacial products were so cool and soothing ~ very refreshing during hot and muggy days and nights! Plus, I love the scent of tea tree and aloe vera, so I felt very cleansed. Normally, there is usually one product that reacts badly to my skin but in this case, not one of them did. I guess I am picking some good products here ~ cosRX is an excellent line, imho.
Some of the Other Products I Used
These products are also part of my daily morning skincare routine during the month of August
- Goodal Waterest Lasting Water Oil ~ I use this for around my eye area during the summertime. You can read my review on this product here
- Eye Creams ~ I currently have two in rotation and use them interchangeably
- Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream ~ I use this after I apply the Aloe Vera Gel Cream and this is for targeted areas only ~ between my eyebrows, where I have those elevenses lines ( || ) and also on both sides of my face, as I do have more hyper-pigmentation there from the sun. My face gets a lot of exposure when I drive and my cheeks really do get the brunt of it. You can read about the product here..
- Peripera Ice Jelly Sun Cream ~ My favorite sun cream for my face! I just got this in August and I love it. I received this in my Beautibi “Yes, Summer” box and you can read that unboxing here. It is currently sold at ClubClioUSA and I HOPE they do not discontinue this sun cream, as it is the only one that I have found that I can apply all over my face without fear of breaking out, more greasiness and clogging of pores. I did purchase another one at Club Clio and I should contact them about keeping this in stock.
When I review the Oily Skin Night Care Kit, I will add in additional products that I use in my nightly skincare routine.

Detailed Product Information
Ciracle Anti-Blemish TeaTree Wash This is a facial cleanser that is specifically for clearing up blemishes. This not only has tea tree oil in it, which has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, but Salix Alba (willow) bark extract. Willow Bark is a BHA, which helps exfoliate skin by removing dead skin cells and contains salicylic acid, to help combat acne. It is also high in anti-oxidants, which tone and reduce inflammation as well as being an astringent, to control oil. Rhus Javanica is Chinese sumac and that is a natural plant extract to help brighten your skin tone and reduce hyper-pigmentation caused by acne and sun damage. Artemisia Princeps (Japanese mugwort) has been used in beauty products for centuries, helping heal and reduce acne and hyper-pigmentation, as it rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and C and minerals iron, calcium and phosphorous. 250 mL $20.49

cosRX Galactomyces 95 White Power Essence (pH level: 6) I purchased this essence, as I needed something for anti-aging concerns as well as brightening and evening out my skin tone. I blundered with the purchase of CosRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol, as that is not an essence, really, but a strong and powerful anti-blemish watery product (toner? serum?) and that I will not use daily. I needed an essence that I could use daily, and this one, despite its awful name (white power ~ it means something totally different here in the States), seems to be the product I am looking for. Galactomyces are fermented yeast filtrates and are highly moisturizing as well as being a powerful anti-oxidant. Full Size 100 mL Value $16.32
Ingredients: Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide,Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Panthenol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol, Adenosine cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX Aloe Vera Oil-free Soothing Gel (pH level: 6.30) This is a essence in a gel form and it is made with concentrated aloe vera, and is very hydrating, while being light in texture. It is very cool on the skin and it will prevent any irritations, soothes and creates a hydration barrier. Full Size 100 mL Value $15.20
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine, Carbomer, Ethyl Hexanediol, Allantoin, Panthenol cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX Aloe Vera Oil-Free Moisture Cream (pH level: 6.50) This is truly a gel moisturizing product. It isn’t 100% aloe vera, so there is no stickiness that can occur with aloe vera products. Usually gel creams are more tacky to the touch, but this product absorbs nicely into my skin and quickly too, leaving no sticky feeling behind. This is full of concentrated aloe vera water, which is hydrating, soothing, calming, and helps prevent any skin rashes or blemishes. The aloe vera water creates a moisture barrier on your skin which helps protect your skin from irritants. You can also use this on your body as well. If you have drier skin, you may wish to apply this 2 or 3 times, as your skin will just soak up this gel. Full Size 100 mL Value $16.38
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Allantoin, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dimethicone, Arginine, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex, Ethyl Hexanediol cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX Centella Blemish Ampule This is such a cool looking bottle ~ reminds me of a chemistry lab type bottle ~ and the bright leaf green color is definitely something would be at home in Snape’s potions class! An ampoule is a concentrated skin care product that is focusing on a specific need ~ they are ampoules for brightening, anti-aging and other skin concerns ~ this one is for blemishes. 20 mL $21.15
Ingredients: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Betaine,1,2-Hexanediol, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulos cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol (pH level: 4.30) This has 60% of black bee propolis extract, which is a miracle worker for those with irritated skin, as it soothes and calms, while hydrating your skin. I love my AHA/BHA toner, and was looking for more of a serum product to help control my sebum and to mattify my skin. Even though this serum is marketed as a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) due to its betaine salicylate, it also is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), as it does contain lactic acid and glycolic acid. AHA/BHA products will help unclog pores and remove dead skin cells. Cassia Obtusifolia is a legume (sicklepod) and fights topical infections as it is an anti-fungal. This product is supposed to be non-drying to the skin as well. This product contains no parabens, artificial colors, artificial fragrances, trethanolamine or phthalate. 100 mL $14.67
Ingredients: Propolis Extract, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, water, Glycolic Acid, Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX BHA Summer Pore Minish Serum (pH level: 7.0) This is a serum that will help reduce the appearance of pores as 80% of this product is made from 100% natural white willow water, which is an astringent, as well as a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) . This BHA will not only control oiliness and remove excess oil, but will remove dead skin cells by gently exfoliating your skin. White Willow Water will also reduce inflammation due to blemishes. This does have alcohol in it as the second ingredient and it is apparent in the scent ~ it isn’t overpowering, but there is a slight scent of alcohol and then it disappears. This is a very watery serum and most likely I will use a cotton pad to apply it. You can see the powder at the bottom of the bottle when it is settled, and you do have to shake it quite vigorously to get the product to mix well with the rest of the ingredients. Full Size 100 mL Value $15.00
Ingredients: Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, Ethyl Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Arginine, Panthenol, Carbomer, Zinc Oxide, Xanthan Gum, Menthol cosDNA.com analysis
cosRX Centella Blemish Cream The cream helps heal blemishes and reduce the scars from blemishes, while hydrating your skin. The ingredients in this cream will also create a protective moisture barrier to keep moisture in. This product will work hand-in-hand with the ampoule, as the cream is focusing on healing and reducing the redness of existing scars, while the ampoule will help prevent new acne from forming as well as healing current blemishes. This also has Tea Tree oil in it, as that is a powerful blemish fighting ingredient. 30 mL Value $17.82
Ingredients: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Dimethicone, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Viola Tricolor Extract, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) oil, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Zinc PCA, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract cosDNA.com analysis
Wishtrend SkinCare Glacial Water Kit RV $24.29

This kit contains both the Glacial Clay Mask and Glacial Water moisturizer. You can also purchase them separately, but this kit is the better deal, as you save 40%.
Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening : Glacial Clay Facial Mask This clay mask is made from glacial Canadian clay (3000mg), which will help remove dirt and unclog pores, while absorbing excess oil in your skin. It also contains oatmeal, which will help soften and remove dead skin cells, while hydrating and moisturizing your skin, tea tree extract ~ which is an anti-bacterial and will help heal and soothe blemishes. This is a thick greenish clay mask where I can see the oatmeal grains and smell the tea tree extracts! It is strange that an oil control mask would have so many triggers for acne in it, but I’ve been using this without issues. 100 mL Value $18.49
Ingredients: water, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, kaolin, bentonite, glycerin, Canadian colloidal clay (3000 mg), stearic acid, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil, portulaca oleracea extract, pentylene glycol, triethanolamine, glyceryl stearate SE, cetyl ethylhexanoate, magnesium aluminum silicate, butylene glycol, saccharide isomerate, allantoin, cetearyl alcohol, xanthan gum, disodium EDTA, methyparaben, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben, titanium dioxide (CI 77891), chromium oxide green (CI 77288) cosDNA.com analysis

I just found your blog yesterday – I LOVE your breakdown of ingredients! And though many of the astringent CosRX products won’t work for me, I think you’ve convinced me to try their Galactomyces Essence. And no one else has talked about the Peripera sun cream so totally excited to hear about it and putting it on my list! Anyways – loved this post. Thank you!

hi nonsonoquitter! thank you so much for reading my blog 🙂 Just so you know, that particular sun cream that I like does have alcohol in it (which is why it probably works so well for my oily skin – haha) in case you have an aversion to alcohol based products. It doesn’t smell like alcohol and it is very watery and moisturizing. However, in case you didn’t follow the link to my unboxing review of that product, with the ingredient list, you might have missed that. The Galactomyces Essence is really nice and that doesn’t have alcohol in it.
