About the Brand

Like the ribozyme, an RNA enzyme that is a catalyst for change, Truezyme marries traditional Korean fermentation techniques, hanbang ingredients like Korean angelica root, and the natural resources of South Korea’s pristine Jeju Island, including camellia and green tea, to create a line that cares for your entire family’s skin, scalp, and hair in the gentlest manner possible but with the most effective methods. Truezyme believes that to truly effect change in your skin, scalp, and hair, you can’t just use a tiny amount of an ingredient. To that end, they ensure that each product contains at least 30-90% of an undiluted formula of active ingredients that are EWG rated green (safe). Created without harsh chemicals and potentially toxic ingredients, Truezyme is safe for everyone, including babies, pregnant women, those with sensitive skin. Truezyme is committed to the Earth’s health and longevity. To that end, they exclude petroleum-based surfactants used in conventional shampoos that are known to be toxic to the ecosystem. All Truezyme products exclude petroleum-based surfactants and petroleum-based chemicals, which are the main causes of water pollution. source from Beautytap

Truezyme Skin Calming Multi Tonic is a product I have tried in the past and I love it!!  I am almost given up on finding it again and now it is my lap! When I first starting using this, I wasn’t expecting much from this but WOW ~ I am sold on it.  This tonic is made with natural  raw ingredients from Jeju Island and domestic hanbang ingredients: 90% fermented liquid and 96% natural ingredients. It contains a lot of botanticals, such as

  • Licorice root is a brightening ingredient as well as reducing flaking and smoothing your skin. It is also an anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory.
  • Green tea is full of powerful anti-oxidants, due to its high concentration of polyphenols. Green tea   helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Full of antioxidants, soybeans moisturize, help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helps firm skin and can reverse UV sun damage over time. It has anti-inflammatory properties so it helps reduce blemish swelling and redness. The power of soybeans contain amino acid glycine, which helps repair damaged tissue and to speed up healing, which means it is great for blemish prone skin as well.  Genistein is so important as it is an anti-aging ingredient and soybeans can also boost elasticity in your skin as it can stimulate and aid in the production of collagen.
  • Antioxidant white peony will brighten and purify your skin
  • Mugwort has been used in traditional herbal medicine to help heal skin wounds as it has anti-bacterial and anti fungal properties and contains a rich source of antioxidants
  • Angelica giga helps with skin’s circulation, making your skin look more radiant. This extract will nourish your skin, making it look healthier and more balanced, without clogging pores.
  • Mineral-rich Jeju lava sea water will help maintain oil and moisture balance for dehydrated oily skin,  as it provides deep mineral-rich moisturization to your skin without being greasy
  • Fermented bifida ferment lysate is a probiotic and it is becoming quite popular to add this ingredient into skincare products now. The claims are that it works as a DNA repair agent when applied to your skin. Bifida lysate  helps revitalize skin so it is clear and radiant, increase hydration and prevent dehydrated, rough skin. It should also firm and restore elasticity to your skin while strengthening your skin barrier to help prevent damage from environmental factors.
  • Lavender has amazing wound healing proprieties due to its antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory compounds. It is also is a soothing and invigorating ingredient as well with a calming aromatic scent.

This mist spray has a nice light, very faint lavender scent to it, with a skin friendly pH level of a 5.  I initially started to use this on my upper arms, where I get those little bumps from my skin rubbing against my clothes. This stuff helped heal and get rid of those bumps! Seriously surprised by that and then I read I could use this on my face too, not just my body.

That time from when you wash your face to before you put on a toner could be several minutes, so what I do before I exit my shower, with my face still damp, is spray this pH balanced tonic on my face. This ensure that my face stays moisturized and healthy before I start my skincare routine.  It also helps prep my skin for my facial routine as well.  It is so calming and soothing, plus it reduces redness.   As long as I can find it, I will purchase it!

Ingrendients: Sea Water, Tocopherol, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Green Tea Extract, Camellia Flower Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate,Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Glycerin, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Germ Extract, Angelica Gigas Extract, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Extract , Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Cnidium Officinale Rhizome Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Sprout Extract, Lavender Oil cosDNA

Truezyme Active Enzyme Hair & Scalp Shampoo is a product I have been longing to get my hands for a long time!  This shampoo is for those who have damaged hair, either from frequent coloring, perms, bleaches or heat.  This is made with 97% naturally derived ingredients and does not contain SLS or SLES synthetic surfactants, which are used to create foam.  Truezyme only uses natural surfactants so it will not irritate your scalp. Along with a lot of ingredients that were in the Multi-Tonic ~ Jeju lava sea water, licorice, green tea, soybeans and angelica giga, this also has its own set of key ingredients

  • Nelumbo nucifera (lotus)  is full of antioxidants and will purifies your skin ~ helping to unclog hair follicles since lotus contains a natural source of AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), gently exfoliating your scalp, whisking away dead skin cells.  It is an astringent, an emollient, with anti-bacterial, antimicrobial and anti-fungal proprieties, so it will keep your scalp clean, moisturized and healthy.
  • Lactobacillus ferment is highly moisturizing and also have antibacterial properties, keeping a nice healthy, moisturized scalp.
  • Polygonum multiflorum (he shou wu) is supposed to help with hair growth and also, in some cases, grey hairs will go back to their original color.  I think it is better to view this as an ingredient that can prevent premature greying, but I am skeptical about the claims of eradicating grey hair.  It does help prevent hair loss and improves overall scalp health.
  • Houttuynia cordata is an herb with powerful detox properties as well as an astringent and anti-inflammatory.
  • Panthenol (vitamin B5) helps cellular renewal and is an effective moisturizer.  Panthenol is a natural humectant, which retains moisture and hydrates the scalp and hair.  It is also widely known to help strengthen hair and manage split ends.
  • Polyquaternium-10 is a moisturizing compound that has anti-static properties.
  • Aloe Vera is a powerful antioxidant, full of vitamins and minerals, to help keep your hair moisturized.
  • There are two essential oils in here ~ orange peel and Hinoki cypress ~ Hinoki cypress (chamaecyparis obtusa) has antiseptic, anti fungal and antiviral properties and purifies your scalp, while orange peel is a natural astringent and antibacterial with a refreshing and bright citrus scent.

The surfactants in here are quite mild ~  coconut derived disodium cocoamphodiacetate, coconut and corn derived glucose lauryl glucoside and sugar-derived decyl glucoside.

This shampoo is very watery and runny with a bright citrus scent ~ I did not pick up any cypress notes.  This has a pH level of a 6, which is mildly acidic.  I had to be careful about how shampoo to much to use, as due to its runny nature, I could use way too much.  It’s like dumping water on my head ~ haha.

However, I learned how not to overuse it once I got used to its watery texture.  This feels really lovely on, doesn’t really foam up a whole lot, but it does clean my oily hair and scalp quite nicely.  It doesn’t leave any residue after I rinse clean and my hair feels really soft and fine.  That said, once I blow dry my hair, I noticed that my hair felt a bit more thicker and had a bit more volume to it.  I am hoping to see if this helps with hair loss as well ~ I am very stressed right now and I have noticed more hairs in caught in my shower drain trap prior to using this. Since using this, I noticed less hair in the trap, so either it was just a coincidence or this helps with hair retention!

Truezyme Mild Feminine Wash  I recently reviewed a gel feminine wash and now I have a foaming one!  Now, before you poo-poo a feminine wash, if the formula is really good, you can use it on your face as well!  I wrote this up for my other review and I think it quite informative, even if I say so myself 😀

Okay, why USE a feminine wash?  Why can’t bar soap be enough? Well, it’s complicated and it all depends on YOU.  For me, I like using a feminine wash when I am on antibiotics as the good bacteria in your body gets destroyed with the bad bacteria ~ which causes yeast infections.  I find that I like a feminine wash instead of bar soap as it is more pH balanced and formulated for the delicate skin ~ your vulva.  Oh, and guys?  You can use it too!  Delicate skin and all!  Also, because feminine washes are normally lower in pH levels, they also can be used on your face!  There is nothing in this gel cleanser that states that it is only for your private areas, so go and use it on your face as well ~ I did!

This Foaming Wash has a lot of similar ingredients to the Multi-Tonic and Shampoo, such as sea water, green tea, licorice, soybeans and bifida ferment lysate ~ but there are a few ingredients I haven’t talked about yet.  Yes, Truezyme uses a lot of botanicals, which is music to my ears.

  • Camellia japonica (tsubaki) is a flower that is a rich source of  lipids, antioxidants, vitamins, omega-6 fatty acids, helping provide moisturizing and protection from free radical damage.
  • Algae kombu (laminaria japonica) is a type of kelp and algae in general have  moisture binding properties so it hydrates and softens your skin. It also is rich in essential vitamins and minerals as well as amino acids and also has anti-inflammatory properties so your skin is smooth, less red and less swollen
  • Cnidium officinale has also been used for thousands of years and topically, it can help clear up skin issues, such as blemishes, rashes and eczema while acting as an antioxidant.
  • Broccoli is a superfood it not only contains antioxidants like beta-carotene and vitamins C,  B complex, E, A and K, omega 3 fatty acids, amino acids and folic acid.  All of these vitamins help care for your skin and keep it healthy.

Like the shampoo, this does have orange peel oil and Hinoki cypress oils in here and mild surfactants: natural, non-ionic coco glucoside is a ultra mild, non-irritating and gentle, derived from coconut fatty acids and glucose; coconut and corn derived glucose lauryl glucoside and sugar-derived decyl glucoside.

This comes in a bottle with a pump applicator. The wash is actually just a liquid in the bottle, but once it is pumped thru the applicator, it comes out as a soft, dreamy float-y cloud of citrus scented heaven. Seriously, this smells wonderful.  This has a pH level that looks to be between 5.5 and 6 and it is very moisturizing.  So, the point of using this on your “Y-Zone” is to keep it slightly acidic as it will help keep the skin from getting infected or breakouts.  Since this is mildly acidic, it should bring balance back to your Y-Zone.  And you can use it on your face too!

The fine lather is really nice on the face and it cleans very well, without irritation for me.  It doesn’t strip my skin or leave it feeling dry after I use it.  This is a really lovely cleanser, whether you use it on your Y Zone or your face (or both!!)
