Goodal Waterest Tone Up First Essence Special Set Initial Impressions

I really liked my Goodal purchases that I have made at Memebox, from the Fun Fun Travel Kit and the Goodal Nourish & Exfoliate kit.  Goodal is the skin care line from Club Clio and they not only sell at the USA Memeshop, but they have their own USA website presence.    I purchased the Goodal Waterest Tone Up First Essence Special Set at the USA Memeshop the other week and I have to say, my initial impressions are very impressed.

Waterest Clear Up Gauze Pads ~ these pads are infused with antioxidant extracts and AHA ingredients, such as grapefruit, soybean, grape, orange, apple, lemon and lime.  The purpose of these pads is to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells to prepare for the Tone Up Essence.  You only need to use these weekly and you throw away the pad once you have used it.   8 pads x 2 mL

How To Use: Directly after cleansing, use Clear Up Gauze to prepare your skin for First Essence application by gently swiping outwards from center of the face to remove any excess dead surface cells and residue, then throw away (Each gauze is for one-time use only).

Ingredients: Water, Butylene, Glycerin, Alcohol, PEG/ PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean)Seed Extract, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexyglycerin, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Culvis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract,  Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Waterest Tone Up First Essence I want to bow down and worship this little bottle of fermented goodness.  I was worried that it would be oillllyyy….greasy….but no.   First, let me tell you something about this essence.  It is made with 86% fermented green tea extracts, which help with hydrating your skin.  Not only is this fermented green tea, it is organic and fermented for 24 days in a traditional Asian earthenware container!  Fancy.   It also contains micro-fermented oil, which contain nutrients that are beneficial to the care of your skin.  Adenosine helps with reducing UV sun damage and preventing wrinkles.  Niacinamide (Vitamin B³) is also a key ingredient, as it helps with reducing hyper-pigmentation.  This essence will help remove and dead and dull skin cells, improve cell turnover and claims to reduce the level of dead skin cells that appear on your skin.   The result of these benefits is that your skin will be able to more easily absorb the fermented goodness of this essence long term and will improve your skin tone.

So, after I used the clear up gauze, I then pour some of this essence in my hand and then patted it into my face and neck area ~ you can also use a cotton pad, but I prefer not to waste any of these precious fermented watery oil.   This essence goes on “dry” ~ like a dry oil, if you know what I mean.  Goodal Waterest is as described ~ a watery essence.  It does not leave behind any oily residue and absorbs quickly into my face.  The scent is amazing, just like all of the other Goodal skincare fermented products I have received ~ it must be the fermented products that makes it smell so lovely.   My face feels refreshed, moisturized and not oily and I have not experienced any skin “troubles” (zits) from this.   What is surprising to me is that when I read the info graphics, Goodal is marketing this towards dry skin that needs moisture.  The only thing I can conclude from this is that this is like my beloved Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence ~ it seems to work with different skin types and quite well.  I cannot say for sure, as I haven’t read a lot of reviews on this product. I do know this is lovely on my oily, but aging skin.   150 mL

Description: Improve overall hydration with 86% pure, organic Fermented Green Tea Extract to provide a rich supply of moisture for the skin, reinforcing the barrier function to improve cell turnover and minimizing the level of dead skin cells.  Micro-Fermented Oil such as Red Rice Yeast Oil is broken down and micronized into smaller particles, enabling deeper penetration into the skin.  Niacinamide and Licorice Root Extract, are anti-inflammatory ingredients that increases ceramide levels and lighten hyper-pigmentation. In result, replenish the skin and nourish the skin’s overall health to create a more bright, radiant and youthful complexion.   Brighten and improve your skin’s overall texture and tone, while boosting the skin’s ability to retain moisture.  Improve skin’s hydration levels that will last for a longer period of time.  Create an even complexion with less hyper-pigmentation, radiant, hydrated, and nourished skin.

Based on the prices I have seen at the USA Memeshop and Club Clio USA, this set is retailed at $40.00.  I did find it cheaper at Club Clio International, for about $30.00, but they also charge an arm and a leg for shipping EMS.   If you are willing to take a chance, I highly recommend this product.    Do you own Goodal Waterest Tone Up First Essence or any other Goodal products?  What is your opinion and experience with these products?  Let me know if the comments below ~ I am always interested in reading about K-beauty products and experiences.

  1. Out of all of these products, the gauze sheets intrigue me the most. I’ve never seen anything like that before. Goodal is also a new brand to me, and by the sounds of it, I need to keep my eyes peeled next time I’m kbeauty shopping. #kbeatuybloghop

  3. Hi!
Have you tried the new formulas with the fermented lotus water? And what do you think which is better, the Goodal Waterest First Esssence or the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence? Since both contain a lot of fermented ingredients. Thank you!

    1. hi andrea, I have a sample of the lotus water, but I haven’t tried it yet. To your 2nd question, they are both really good products ~ If you are on a budget, Secret Key Starting Treatment is a fine choice and its key ingredient is Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, so it does have a nice fermented ingredient. the original waterest first essence (the one pictured here) is the only one I am familiar with, and I love it too. It is more extensive and it has more fermented goodies, but if you can find the original and the price is not too much, I do recommend it. Either one is really nice and you cannot go wrong, imho
I don’t have the full ingredient list for the secret key, but its key ingredients are Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Albutin, Adenosine, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Leaf Extract , Grapefruit extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, chamomile extract, green tea extract, centella asiatica extrat, witch hazel extract, portulaca oleracea extract, ground cherry fruit extract, chopi tree (Japanese pepper tree) fruit extract
