Memebox Superbox #84 SkinFood 스킨푸드 Box Review

I really like Skinfood  스킨푸드  products ~ they specialize in creating skincare and makeup products using fruits, vegetables and other edible items 😀   Hence the name!   The packaging is also very unique as they try to mimic food packaging ~ such as a honey pot for their honey masks.  Memebox hasn’t sent us that much in regards to Skinfood items ~ I think the only product I received was some bath salts in the Herbal box.  Imagine my joy when Memebox announced the Skinfood box last week ~ yes, LAST WEEK ~ with shipping within 3-5 days!  They also announced The Face Shop box, which I purchased as well.   Since I purchased the bundle, I received this the day after it shipped.

Informational Card which should explain what I got and its value.

Facial Water Vita-C Cream  This is more of a hybrid cream-gel ~ it has a nice gel-like texture that quickly turns into a watery serum on my skin.   It is recommended to store this in the refrigerator for optimal results.    This contains berry extracts and Alaskan (again, so exotic! haha) glacier waters.   I am very excited to try this one out and I will use it tonight as a hydrating pack.    Full Size 75 g  Value $13.00

Product Description: A facial water cream that instantly fills thirsty skin with vital hydrating energy of Vita C complex and Alaska glacier water.   Quench thirst by delivering a richly nutritious blend of Vitamin C complex and Alaska glacier water deep into skin.  The Vitamin C complex contains extracts from raspberry, acai berry, cranberry and strawberry and works to replenish healthy energy to dehydrated, dulled complexion.

How To Use:  Apply directly to clean face and let it absorb.  It’s recommended to be refrigerated for better moisturizing and soothing results.   It can also be used as a hydrating pack by applying a thicker amount of the cream.

Black Sugar Mask Wash Off  This is probably one of their more famous and popular items and I even own it!  I love this product ~ I just massage into in my skin and then let sit for 5-10 minutes and then I wash it off.  It smells lightly of lemons (at least to me!) and it is a dark sugar scrub that isn’t harsh on the skin.  My face feels so clean and refreshed after I use this, without that drying feeling of being “stripped”   I really am happy to find this in my Skinfood box, as I bet you are too!  Full Size 100 g  Value $9.00

Product Description:  An effective facial exfoliator, rich in various vitamins and minerals.   Use occasionally to cleanse away excessive dead skin cells, oil and skin impurities piling up in the pores to make skin sensitive and troublesome.   It’ll bring back healthy radiance and suppleness to skin with just a single use.

How To Use:  After washing, apply desired amount onto face, avoiding eye and mouth areas.  Mix with water or toner to reduce skin irritation, and massage.  Wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then wash off with warm water.

Ingredients: Sucrose, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candella) Wax, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Lanolin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Butyrospermum Parkll (Shea Butter), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Laurate, Butylparaben, BHT, Caramel, Parfum

Egg White Pore Meringue Foam   I have tried  Skinfood’s Egg White Pore Foam, which is different from this product ~ the Meringue Foam.  I did like the that sample, so I am very happy to find this in my box, as the Egg White series is specially formulated for oily skin.   This is a very light weight cleanser, so I will use this at night time.    This has 1,000 mg of Egg White (Arbutin) extract.  Full Size 200 mL Value $13.00

Product Description: An auto-pump foaming cleanser that gently cleanses skin and pores with luxuriant, meringue-like foam. Egg White is loaded with albumin that consists of amino acids.

[Egg white Story] Egg white, enriched with alumin, promotes firmer skin and smaller pores.

How To Use: Dispense a few pumps and gently massage onto face. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water.

Tomato Whitening Toner  I don’t believe I have ever had a skincare item made from tomato extracts before.  This is exciting!    This is a toner that will help brighten skintone, by the use of arbutin ~ an ingredient used to treat hyperpigmenation and is a natural filter against types A, B and C UV radiation.   It also contains 10% tomato extracts, which are rich in lycopene ~ a strong antioxidant and will protect skin cells from aging.   This product will also help with blemishes too, so this will be a fun product for me to try out.   This doesn’t smell like tomatoes, btw.  It has a light scent, almost floral.   Full Size 180 ml  Value $17.00

Product Description: Contains arbutin and tomato extract and helps fight various pigmentation and brightens skin tone.  Tomato extract contains vitamins A, C, B2 (riboflavin), organic acids, minerals, enzymes.  Helps increase facial skin softens, elasticity and freshness.  Toner helps clear away dead skin cells and prepares it for followup skincare ~ to help nutrients penetrate more deeply into the epidermis.

Yes, I swatched before I took the picture!!

Choco Eyebrow Powder Cake Randomly selected from 01 Grey Khaki Black, 02 Grey Brown.  This is a strange choice to be in a Skinfood box and I just received a HUGE eyebrow palette in my October Starlooks Starbox, so I was a bit disappointed in this selection for a makeup item, as it is a bit of a dup for me.    BUT since I cannot carry around the Starlooks palette, this is a nice size to put in  my makeup bag.     I received 02 Grey Brown, which I am pleased with this color.  This has the light pigmentation that many eyebrow products have, as you don’t want to go around looking like Groucho Marx.  In a pinch and perhaps wet, I can use these as eyeshadows, but they are very light.   This is made with cacao extracts, and yes, it DOES smell like chocolate!   Full Size 4g Value $5.00

How did I feel about Memebox’s first Skinfood Box?  I thought it was pretty darn good ~ much better than I expected it to be.  Skinfood has so many product lines, so I am sure there were many items that people wanted that did not appear in this box.  However, I felt this box was a perfect fit for my skin type ~ I can use every single one of these products as they will work with oily skin.

I paid $29.00 + $6.99 in shipping, for a total of $35.99 ~ I am sure I had Memepoints and this box was much less ~ and received a MemeValue of $57.00    However, the $6.99 was one cost, as I did bundle it with The Face Shop (review to be up tomorrow!) and it was DHL express shipping.   Since I will use all of these products, this box was worth it to me, even though it didn’t have a HUGE value like other Memeboxes.

Did you get the Memebox Superbox #84 SkinFood ?  What did you think of it and what is your favorite product?

  1. I sure wish they’d leave the parabens, glycols and phenoxyethanol out of their food based products. The base is good but the chemicals not so much. My fingers are crossed that I get the brown eyebrow set!

  2. I didn’t pick up this box but I think I’d be most interested in the Tomato toner. I’ve got hyperpigmentation issues and besides, how awesome would it be to slap tomatoes all over your face?! The Vita-C cream sounds fun too. Great box!

  3. I would love every single thing in this box. I’ve searched and searched the Memebox site and can’t find it anywhere, not even in the ‘sold’ boxes. Is it just me or has it vanished?? What an awesome review – many thanks!

  4. While I think the products in this box are nice, I still think I would have been disappointed with this box. I think I expect way too much from the branded boxes, which is why I never buy them. I do think this is a great introduction to their line, and it is a nice variety of products. I might have to pick up that Tomato Toner! Anything with “whitening” in the name instantly makes me yank out my wallet! LOL #kbeautybloghop

    1. that is how I felt with the Tonymoly and Holika Holika boxes – once I saw the unboxings, I just didn’t want them. I feel a bit differently from Skinfood – but that said, all of these items were useful to me, if they hadn’t been, I might have been not as happy 🙂

  5. I have that black sugar mask too (most k-beauty fans have tried it probably, I reckon?) but it is pretty great. The Vita-C cream also sounds interesting, though I feel like I’ve been seeing a lot of Korean cosmetics boasting glacier water recently and I find the concept kind of funny. I guess glaciers seem sort of exotic?

  6. I completely agree with marcey. I purchased the box hoping the ingredients would be a bit more natural, since the brand seems to promote themselves as ‘healthy’ for the skin. I have a feeling I’ll end up swapping almost all the contents

  7. Still waiting for my box to reach me but I’m quite disappointed with it. They should have included one hair product from the Argan Oil range and one from the Pomegranate. And why the eyebrow powder???

    1. As I said, there were many product lines to choose from, and this box was going be disappointing for some. If they had added a hair product (especially one with oil), I would have been very disappointed. It is one of those boxes if you can use all of the products, you will like it, but if you cannot, you will be disappointed. The eyebrow powder was a *cough*cough* interesting choice. I have no idea why it was included, as this box only had 5 items anyway. I actually do like the item, but I would have rather had something from their “black” line ~ raspberry, pomegranate….

  8. GREAT review!! I don’t know what it says about me, but the facial cleanser is now my favorite cleanser. I love the feeling and the baby powder-ish smell. Also, the tomato toner is the only one I want to use since getting it and I LOVE the Facial Water Vita C cream much better than my former HG Lioele Waterdrop Sleeping Pack.

This all could change if the Innisfree box is curated with skin care basics as well, but for now, I have 3 new HG products in categories which are very important- cleansing, toning and night moisturizing.
I’m a bit unsure about using a scrub on my face as I haven’t used one in years that I liked, but will probably try this one since I have two Skinfood boxes too. I do love the Skinfood Rice Food wash off pore pack- micro scrub.

  9. I almost bought this box, but now I’m glad I passed on it. I just don’t think I would have been happy with it (much like I am not excited about the Holika Holika box I bought). I am making note of the egg white foam, though. I think my sister-in-law would like it. #kbeautybloghop

  10. At first I was disappointed with such a low value box, but then I wondered about the other boxes with high values. Usually the high value seems to come with one seriously expensive item (Like an $80 cream or something) and I wonder if they just have some connection with a company for a certain bulk deal. Probably they couldn’t get such an amazing deal from Skinfood since that company is so popular itself. Annnywayyy of course I love the black sugar scrub! I’ve been using it for years and it’s amazing. I have also been using that eyebrow cake for a few months and I like it. I was so scared to get the khaki one! Yikes! Overall though, despite the low value, it was a nice box 🙂

    1. I’ve noticed that the “brand” boxes are much lower in value and I think it is as you say – they are popular items and don’t really need Memebox to “sell” their products. That said, I have purchased 2 brand boxes and have ordered the Innisfree one as well, as I do think this is a nice way to introduce the brand to those who are unfamiliar or may not have a lot of products by that company. I do wish I had gotten the Banila box now, as that looks really nice…
